  1. Seriously???? I think they're trying to get a general idea is if the Bahamas water is warm in November. Come on. Why do some people have to be like this all the time???????? If you have nothing helpful to contribute then don't post.

Thank you! You took the words right out of my mouth (and probably nicer, lol!)

  2. So you want to know what the water temperatures will be a year from now?

Don't be so literal, silly child. Just want an idea of the average water temps that time of the year so I can take a dip. But if you know something the rest of us don't please share!

  3. I would not sail in Oct. for fear of tropical storms. I just got back from a Nov.16th cruise and the sea temps in St.Thomas and Antigua were nice and warm. As for Nov 30th and if you need to fly your airfare may be high due to the Thanksgiving Holiday w/e.

Thanks for the tip on the airfare on Thanksgiving weekend...never thought of that. UGH!

  4. I am ready to book our next years cruise and need your opinions please. I am wondering about the water temps at the end of Nov. first of Dec. for Half Moon Cay. I love the water and can book either Oct. or earlier Nov. but the price and cabin location plus Christmas decorations is best for Nov. 30 week. So what do you all think? Thank you!

  5. I am ready to book next years cruise. So now I have to decide on three dates....Oct. 19 or Nov. 16 or Nov. 30. I want to know if the ocean temps are much different and I love being at the beaches and FLOATING in the sea (I can't swim). The best price and cabin location is Nov. and would be able to enjoy the Christmas decorations as we never sail at this time of the year. This is the date I am most worried about the water temps.

The ship is FOS and would be the eastern caribean route, same itinerary. I really LOVE this ship! Your opinions are greatly appreciated! Thnk you!

  6. You are correct. November 2nd through the 9th 2014 is when the High Seas Rally takes place on the Freedom of the Seas.

To the OP, if avoiding large groups is what you want I suggest you pick a different sailing date. The High Seas Rally cruise is a "Biker Rally" cruise. Although they are cruising to support a charity, the group will be very large and very visible through out the ship.

Thank you SO much. We have cruised RC before in Nov. and missed this rally by a week two times now. I don't think I want to start now as I have read many reviews that had some issues with extra large groups. (Not this one necessarily). I really wanted this time frame. I now have two alternatives..two weeks earlier or two weeks later.

  7. I think you could cancel and rebook. But check the cabin prices first. If they have gone up due to the sale, it may not be worth it. If you are working with a TA, have them do a new booking to see the difference in price BEFORE cancelling the other...

    No, not allowed. Sorry.

  8. We returned from the 14 day Collectors Cruise 10 days ago. We ate dinner in the Lido SEVERAL times. From the dining room menu they offered two soups, two appetizers, two entrees and two desserts plus a multitude of other choices. I feel lke the dr choices in the Lido were not the best ones from each course. A few times the beef tenderloin and lamb were very good tho. The desserts were a major disappointed to what was listed for the DR, including the so called Ice Cream. No fruit soups were ever availaable. We ate here on formal night three times and lobster was never on the buffet.

My other observations were: no table cloths, limited beverage service to non existant for refills, very few staff were working as the Lido was less than haf full every time. One night our dishes kept accumulating on our table after a few course and no one cleared them as they were busy chatting among themselves. When I got up for my entree I commented to them about the poor service and they all scattered and started to do their jobs.

There was no question of poor behavior from any of the diners.

Menu is posted outside of Lido everyday after breakfast.

I hope you have enjoyable cruise!

  9. I am interested in the cruise on FOS for Nov.2, 2014. But I am hesitant. How can I know if a very large group will be on the ship this week? I have done a mock booking and almost all the suites are gone, The E-1 an E-2 are guarantee only and the balconies have limited selections. This makes me think there will be some large group booking together, something I try to avoid. Thank you for any information you can share.

  10. I think it's only on certain sailings. No early saver on the cruise I want to book.

I tried booking a Liberty cruise for next Nov and it still shows upgrades no early savor. All they do is upgrade you to the two upper decks that no one wants and you can't book the category of your choice with this deal. A mess!:D

Sorry, this is a repetitious question:

I am wanting to book a cruise on the Breeze next Nov. out of Miami. This cruiseport is entirely new for us and overwheming Could someone recommend a precruise hotel in a safe area for uner $150 a night that includes transportation from/to airport and possibly cruiseport?

I know a lot of you go into and stay at Ft Laudale and take some kind of transportation to the port to avoid Miami and it's conjestion. (SAS was mentioned). ( How bad is MIami airport anyway?) Is it worth the extra trouble to come from FLL?

I would look elsewhere to read about this but don't know where.

Thanks for your help as it will determine whether or not we take this cruise.

  12. I am trying to book for next Nov. and EVERY catagory I choose automatically upgrades me to a catagory I don't want. The only choices shown are the decks above the Lido deck not the one I selected. How can I get the category I want? Is my only recourse to call Carnival direct? Thanks, this is VERY irritating not given a choice of whether to upgrade or no on line. :D:D

  13. 2nd time trying to post this, let's just say this day has been terrible. We were led like cattle in a huge room after we went through immigration and stood in lines for almost an hour. 600+ people who were continuing on the ship for the Eastern Caribbean.

When we got back onboard....tried to use elevators but only 2 were open and packed, so we trecked up to 7th floor. I went to Neptune Lounge and that is where I broke down in tears. I was so out of breath from the stairs and just so upset in general. Oh yea, while we were waiting in the cattle line....I called Holland America and voiced our opinions of this and were told the ship was still not cleared, which I knew already. Back in the Neptune Lounge, they were very concerned and were so nice in calming me down.

We have decided this will be our last 2 week cruise where there is a turnaround day. It was totally not like we had read it would be. A lot of people were also upset. It turned out that 2 people chose to not go by the instructions and I suppose Holland had a hard time of locating their room to get them off the ship. I heard one gentleman say that the couple should be fined! I think I agree.

Anyway, with a few issues on the first week, overall, it has been wonderful. I pray the second week will be just as wonderful. We will be waving on the sail away today.

    JUST OFF THE NIEW AMSTERDAM

I completely agree with you, this was VERY uncomfortable for most people who are primarily seniors with bad backs, legs, hips etc. To being forced to stand in a large warehouse like room with NO chairs and NO noticeable AC and having no ideas how long we would be there was absurd. I thought I had read on previouse reviews that we would be escorted to a lounge type area where we would wait in comfort. HA!

Everyone was upset although our wait was a little under an hour (a few cruises before ours they waited four hours) it was a far cry from the type of conditions we receive and expect from Holland.

This was the one sticking point in a nearly perfect cruise.

  14. We are on a budget and don't really want to send $200 per night for a precruise hotel.

This Best Western Oakland Park seems to fit our needs. THe reviews are mixed but mostly good. How is it for cleanliness, location, cab charge to port and restaurants within walking distance (not a mile away please). You have been so helpful to many of us not familiar with Ft. Lauderdale and THANK YOU doesn't seem adaquit but a big THANKYOU anyway!:D:D

  15. we will be on the dream 5/5/2012 we booked a balcony on the 9th deck mid ship. is that a good cabin. this is our first cruise.

You might want to compare deck 9 deck plans with deck 10 and line up your cabin and see what is above yours. Pool areas and eating areas can sometimes be noisy when they are cleaning and moving chairs. Oth:Derwise this is a great deck to be on. Have fun!

  16. We have sailed out of Port Canaveral three times, once with Carnival and twice with Royal Caribbean around 10:30 am. After we received our Sail passes we were directed to an area with chairs set up in several rows and instructed to go as far as possible to where the last person was sitting. When it was time to board they started letting people from the front and each row filed in after the proceeding row was emptied. FOS had several thousand passengers and it ran very smoothly not crowed at all. They have a good system in PC.:D

  17. I found ctwo cruises with the itinarary I love on th eame date but can't decidebetween the two. The prices are similar.

Carnival Dream is newer and larger but has numerous complaints about the food, sewage smell and over crowding.

Nowegian Dawn has the same food complaints with only the extra pay restaurants being good but I don want do that. Their regular balcony cabins are much smaller than Carnivals.

    Both ports are ok.

I know there isn't the perfect cruise but I don't want to be disapointed either.

As mentioned, I love the itinerary but don't know if I will be satisfied with either of these ships.

Would someone please share their opinions, obsevations or expiriences that I might consider....THANKS SOOOO MUCH!! We are seniors on a limited income and just want to get the best bang for our $$$$:D
