  1. I just read a fantastic review from Cruisin Scottie on the Liberty. I had the Liberty on my bucket list for next year but they are moving her to Puerto Rico and am not interested in taking a cruise from there.

Which leads me to my second choice (only if it compares favorably with the Liberty)...Carnival Glory.

How do the two ships compare in the dining room and 2.0 addition? Is there anything on the Liberty that the Glory doesn't have? We have been on the Glory six or so years ago but never on the Liberty.

Thanks for any information you can share!!!!!

  2. Thank you for your review,

I would be interested in the hotel you choose in Cape Canaveral and the pizza place you raved about. We wil be in CC the last of November and like to get honest opinions from other cruisers.

Sounds like the rude but accurate assement of the employee on the phone hit the nail on the head as far as SOME cruisers. (A few bad apples, you know).

Don't get me wrong I love Carnival for several reasons but having sailed with RC and Holland America it seems SOME of the passengers on Carnival have less manners and more behavioral negatives than the others cruislines. Probably because of the usually lower cost . I have noticed this on every Cruise we have been on and shake my head in disbelief sometimes. Glad you had a good time!

  3. You couldn't have picked a better picture to start off your review. The Liberty was on my bucket list for next year but they are sending it to Puerto Rico and there's NO way I'm sitting on a cramped plane for another two hours. We live in Indiana and two hours total is more than enough in those sardine cans they call airplanes , LOL!

Your initial review has me all excited for what comes next. I love detail and food porn pictures.

We sailed out of Port Canaveral several times and love the port. Also we have stayed at the Best Western and were upgraded to a suite with a balcony overlooking pool #2. WE LOVED IT!..The people working there are SO friendly. We had a small problem with the door and it was fixed immediatley . Don't forget the great breakfast they provide with HOME MADE banana bread. We complimented the kitchen staff and they gave us a plate full to take to our room. YUM! We will be sailing on the FOS in Nov. and have booked the BW (and hoping for anotheer upgrade, lol!) On with the show!!!!!!!!

  4. We too have been on both ships (Glory and Legend) post upgrades. Both are nice ships but I liked the Legend better. It is so easy to get around. No obstructions midway on some decks (dining room) allowing you to walk end to end and not changing decks to get where you want to go. Also much preferred the adults only pool are at the back of the ship. Tampa was the easiest and fastest port we have experienced. Have a wonderful cruise on whichever ship you choose!

  5. If you go to the top of your Cruise Critic page you will see a box that says "reviews". You will then click on "member reviews" and will be prompted to choose a ship. After clicking "Freedom of the Seas" you will find all the latest reviews for FOS. Each of these reviews have loads of information concerning cruises and ports visited in the Caribbean. We are booked for NOV 10 and enjoy reading others experiences. You will absolutley love FOS!

  6. I booked in Dec with a WOW SALE. I received one price drop in Jan and an onboard credit only on the next drop because it was on another travel site and not a WOW sale. I see the other travel site again is showing a bigger price drop but Rc site doesn't. Final payment has been made. Is it possible to get another onboard credit? Same cruise, same room category same date.

RC seems to have restrictions that prohibit saving money.

  7. No offense this sounds like a fantastic idea, because I'd love to go to Alaska but since she refuses to go to other counties she doesn't have a passport and you can't fly to Canada without a passport, only closed circuit USA cruises, so this won't work, but thanks for the suggestion.

Check out Holland America cruises to Alaska. Some go out of Seattle Washington seven days round trip. This was our first cruise and was fantastic. We were in our 60's at the time it was a beautiful relaxing cruise. They have beautiful ships.

  8. Not sure I understand what you have.

If you give us your sail date and type of cabin (plus number of people) it helps.

When you book WOW sales now, if your get a reduction, they will usually take the WOW OBC away. So you have to balance that out with the new price.

Sail date is Nov 30 for two people Cat D1. The new price was $40 pp cheaper. They did say I would lose our $100 credit we got booking the WOW sale in Nov. to get this price. So I kept the price I have now and was given a $50 additional credit for some reason.

I find this is a way they don't have to honor cheaper prices. We also have cruised with Carnival and they give you the cheaper price before final payment with no hassle. Same Cat same date etc. of course. I'm happy to sail with RC but find it harder to get a reduced when advertised. Just swayin". In the long run, I guess I came out ahead considering I now have $150 onboard credit and the total price reduction would have been $80.

I have never sailed the same ship twice as there are so many interesting lines and ship choices but we LOVED the FOS and will be our second cruise on her before she left out favorite port. Thanks again for your input.

  9. I booked our Nov. FOS cruise in Dec with the WOW sale and got a price duction in Jan no problem. Last week on another travel site I found a sale price on our room category for less money for Indiana residence but they said it wasn't the same sale I booked so couldn't honor it. They did give me a $50 onboard credit. So is that the only sale I can get a reduced price? Final payment is due next week and there could be more reductions. I should know this but forgot. Thanks for your help!

  10. I've been waiting for the comment about driving the speed limit. Someone always pulls that one out. As I've said in the past, it all goes to intent. People who share the drink package do it intentionally. People who sometimes go over the speed limit do not leave their home with the intention of doing so.

Don't you mean?......"SOME people who go over the speed limit SOMETIMES do not leave thir home with the intention of doing so?

  11. We does so many people have issues with going to the windjammer?

The cruiseline encourages the passengers to go there on arrival.

I don't understand whats wrong with it...

It's the crowds you will encounter on embarkation day. Standing in long lines to get your food and finding a table to eat it. Many people sit at their table after lunch waiting for their rooms to be open making it even harder for people wanting to sit for lunch.

Most ships have AT LEAST 2000 passengers and most of them go to Windjammer as directed. Can be very frustrating. Nothing wrong with the food.

  12. I just read from a cc poster that the AC on the Magic only came down to 76 and was acceptable temp according Carnival mainenance. This seems way too warm for real cooling comfort. I know some of you have not had this issue but would like to hear from others on other ships that this has been a problem. We have been on three Carnival cruises and must say that we couldn't really regulate a cooler temp in the cabin on any of them. We have no trouble with RC or HAL.

  13. The attached PDF will explain it. It is a dining concept being launched on Quantum class ships. Early and late seating would be eliminated in favor of an expanded MTD concept. The single large dining room is being redesigned to be four smaller no charge themed restaurants with enhanced menus. There will be a total of 18 dining venues split 50/50 between no charge and fee based.

The menus look the same as the ones listed for RC now. These have been in effect for well over a year. What's different food wise?

I just googles it and found the whole list of restaurants, pictures and menus. WHAT A SELECTION! I'd never be able to decide. Looks very grand!!!!

  14. I am very worried about this:

. Have a cruise in Port Canaveral and flying from Indianapolis to Melborn, Fl. on Sunday Nov. 29 and have Delta flights booked for the day before. Delta has changed the schedule so our layover time in ATLANTA is only 35 min. My DH and I are in our 70's with bad knees. How in the world do they expect us to get to our connection (even if they are on time) in that huge airport? We were in that airport last fall and felt completley lost. ESverything I have read recommends at least 45 min. Map of airport is so confusing. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!.

  15. I bought this for our first cruise to Alaska and started out the first day or two using it. After feeling fine I stopped and was ok without it. I don't get airsick, carsick etc. so don't know if I really needed it or not.

I don't believe I used it on the last few cruises but always had it on hand. Last Nov. we were on a B to B on The Niew Amsterday and sailed thru some pretty rocky seas and began feeling really funny. I decided not to take a chance about feeling worse so applied Motion Eze , took a short nap and felt like normal again.

I will always sail with it and hope it works for you.

  16. Wow, communication skills? It was not a snarky remark. A reminder to my teenage daughter not to let the door slam because it bothers others was in no way snarky and it actually is prob better than leaning around the balcony asking the person not to let the door slam. You're pretty rude if you would slam doors after hearing a statement like that! A decent human being does not do something like that intentionally after overhearing a remark!

You are quite right, that WAS NOT a snarky remark. I totally agree with you and was about to respond if you hadn't.
