  1. You surprised me. I was certain that you would have gotten my spin. 😁
  2. Just to note: My January 15 day cruise dropped $600 (Club Balcony) about 5 months before final payment.
  3. You're not missing anything - as long as you do the activities that you want. As cruiseny4life posted, what you do may eat more minutes than you are used to, so the time may go more quickly than expected. As for the rest of the world, there are lots of things that folks do that you don't. Such as, many post tons of info onto these boards during a cruise (or otherwise interact with CC members). Personally, I like to read my hometown newspaper when I'm away from home. I don't do any social media at all; I don't plan on streaming anything. And I can't get by on 20 minutes a day, even if it doesn't run slowly.
  4. Quite the contrary! Apparently you missed MY humor and sarcasm.
  5. Nowhere Man - that's a different song.
  6. NCL has been paid in full for the cabin. NCL cannot charge extra. It does not matter whether there are 2 persons, one person or none. nothing should change. The other person will have a "private" cabin. The ill person should be refunded by their travel insurance (thank goodness they purchased it). By all means, NCL should be notified of the non-attending passenger.
  7. That makes perfect sense. 🙂 Sounds like yours is closer to 2.5 days.
  8. I read that itinerary as 3 days in Bermuda. Sailing @ 7 AM on Friday barely registers as anything but a wave goodbye.
  9. By all means, follow the Bird's advice. Just wondering, though, what's the problem with a connecting room? It's just a door that will remain bolted shut.
  10. While I have not nearly as many cruises under my belt as many pf the posters on these boards, I have travelled a lot over the years, to many parts of the world (NA, SA, Europe, Asia, North Africa) and a number of cruises, starting in 1975). Thanks, for the not you - given I suppose because I have a sympathetic ear on the poor advertising shtick. But I do think of myself as seasoned (and very close to your year count), LOL.
  11. I agree with your statements. One difference from your examples is that this brochure, for each cruise option, simply says "discounted fare per guest*". A simple "from" or "starting at" would be quite appropriate. The reader must follow the asterisk (fine print info on the back cover of the mailer) to find the qualifier. Any traveler with even minimal experience would likely know that the prices were not covering all possibilities, even without treading the back page. However, some folks may be mislead.
  12. True. Bur the brochure under discussion didn't bother to use such a phrase, as I quoted it previously. What it does have, under the (fine print) asterisk is "available on select sailings and subject to change".
  13. Why not have the other party reserve space now? It's not like you're getting seat #'s.
  14. Put simply, they are only saying you have to decide which FAS options you are choosing to use during the cruise; not specific reservations for dining or excursions.
  15. While not an outright lie, "free excursions" is a rather exaggerated phrase for their ad. Still, it's a $50 bonus if you use it.
  16. Sometimes it works, LOL I have one booked @ $49 full price; and my DW declined to go along. So, completely free excursion!
  17. Yup. Just a fliipin' phone. Hey, I did say cute, didn'y I?
  18. Following up on my previous comments: Turns out I have the exact same brochure - it's been sitting next to my desk here for a couple of days. As for the fine print - yes, it's pretty fine. Not nearly as bad as it show's in the OP's photo. I have to pull back my glasses and hold it close to my face - but when I do, it's not difficult to read. Now as to the ads. There are world wide offerings. Every one has ONE PRICE for each cabin class. There is an asterisk on the price column header. That header, highlighted in yellow, reads "Discounted fare per guest*". Most of the itineraries note that they are running for a month, a season, or more (POA is there, year-round). You have to be a very inexperienced traveler to think that the price quoted runs for entire seasons or even the whole year at only one price. Now, I will quibble a bit on the FREE AIR* part of the ad. It's the BOGO. Free? Yes, for one person. But is it really free? Not to me. You can't get the free one without buying one at the regular price. Bottom line is that it's a 50% off (of 2 fares). Half off is not = to free. But not all bad, of course. Advertising at it's finest. 🙄
  19. Cute. Not what I was going for. I was referring to the size and weight and the big bulge (and before you bring it up, Chief, way over to the side).
  20. Okay, fine print sucks. But when it comes to anything travel (cruises, hotels, flights) advertised prices will rarely be applicable to any and all dates, classes, etc. Speaking specifically on cruises, one example is let's say you want a balcony cabin. There are several different prices for balconies (different decks or deck positions or sizes) each at a different price. Often language will be "from X $" . That language applies to other forms of travel as well.
  21. Interesting observation. That would open up more possibilities for discrepancies. OP said it was from NCL - was it or wasn't it?
  22. The fares are, indeed, much higher. You made a blanket statement and I pointed out a different view.
  23. ' m not comparing anything. The quote was regardless of cruise line - not any particular rate category. You are infering that it meant mid-range. And I was not referring to river cruises either.
  24. I didn't say anything about not paying for the services, only indicating that they are included in the price.
