  1. My PVP extended one of ours by a week. I did not exactly ask for that either, I was checking on something else and mentioned it was going to be tough to pay them since we were on a cruise the day of final payment for another cruise.

I had planned all along to pay the balance before we left Charleston ( home port ) on the cruise. When I went in to pay, before heading to the ship I saw it was not due till after we got back. Still paid it, as I had budgeted too, but though that was really nice of them to give us a bit extra without us even asking.

  2. Cruising on the Vista in December and wanted to know if you can order their craft/micro beer they brew on board in the casino or is it only available is certain bars?

    Cheers and happy cruising.

In April the Casino only had ThirstyFrog Red ( not brewed on board), and Budlight on draft.

It is a short walk up to the Red Frog Pub to get which ever you like. I also found at slow times a few of the bar waiters would take a $2 tip to go get me one... They actually told me that they could not at night when it was busy.. I loved the IPA, and on the Trans-Atlantic cruise they had a Pumpkin beer for their seasonal. I think I might have personally drank half of that one...

  3. Any Diamond Lounge/Event? Just 3 a day now for Diamonds? We do miss the cocktail hours on Royal, but have more fun on Carnival. There are some benefits for Carnival Diamonds that we do appreciate.:D

There will be 1 event the Captain hosts for Diamonds on the cruise.

No lounge, no drinks(beyond the 1 free in the breakfast).

  4. I had been using the FCC for a long time but our last cruise was on Princess for the Alaska packages they offer so we didn't have a Carnival cruise booked. We got really good VIFP and Casino offers in between that we didn't get when we always had a cruise booked. Some were better than the FCC $100 OBC offer.

The VIFP and Casino offers are different from booking on the ship. You 'paid' for the casino offer (win or lose in gambling), the old day VIFP offers were better, but not in last 3 or 4 years.

Booking on the ship has just really became a bad joke... but if it helps someone then good for them.

  5. I would guess around 30x30, but the floors in the bathroom are designed to be able to get wet so it's okay if it goes outside of the shower area a bit

I agree... maybe up to 36 by 36.... but that might be stretching it...

Note that unless you have an accessibility room you will have a lip between the most of the room and the shower, its about 1 inch wide and 1-2 inches high..

  6. nothing extra... and in fact they basically took away any benefit from booking on board.

It went from a sliding scale of OBC based on length of future sailing, to flat $50.. has to be ES and you can not change it at all or you lose the $50. I have also heard people say when they price match as ES they still lose the $50... completely worthless.

I hate to say it, but had I not been a cruiser during the days of Future Cruise Certificates, I would never have gotten to over 150 days with Carnival. They used to offer alot to get you to come back again..

  7. yeah I've never had a problem getting my entire bank back either, including coins.

When you sit down at the slot and put in your sail & sign card (you'll have to go through setting up a pin number at the slot machine the first time), you'll press the button that says "Charge sail & sign", it'll then ask for your pin and dollar amount. I don't believe you have to even play because once it's loaded to the machine, you can't put it back on your sail & sign, you have to select the button "cash out to player bank". Whatever you have on the machine is the dollar amount that will go into your "player bank". You then mosey up to the cashier window and tell them you want to cash out or withdraw from your player bank.

You are correct, you do not have to play. HOWEVER, if you do this they will give you the cash, then lock your players club account. You will have to work with the Casino Host to have it unlocked to play in the future.

So, if you are only planing to be in the casino 1 time to do this, and never actually play in the casino you dont need to do a spin, but if you plan to play do at least 1 spin, I recommend 3 or more..

  8. Carnival will ask that you to use one of their cups to fill your large cup.. they want you to use a clean cup every time it is filled..

I personally have never seen anyone follow this rule, just wanted to throw it out there as some people get grossed out when people use personal cups they have been drinking from all day, to get a refill.

  9. Wonderful, wonderful read! We are booked on Elation for Aug 12, 2017 and we booked only 2 days ago. I read some not so nice reviews on another website so after reading this and seeing your pictures, I am so excited to set sail on Aug 12th!

I haven't cruised for a few years. Somebody tell me what FTTF stands for please.

FTTF is Faster to the Fun. a program that gets you priority boarding, tenders, debarking and a faster guest service line. Basically, paying to get a bunch of the benefits that Platinum and up loyalty has been given.

  10. In all of my many cruises I have never had this happen to me. The closest I have come was my last cruise when the cabin steward bumped my watch out of its charging cradle. He left the cradle plugged in, just the watch was on the counter in front of it...

I suggest to anyone out there reading this, if you get behavior like this, and then ask them to stop and they keep doing it, go to guest services. Ask to speak to the hotel manager, this is the type of thing that should not happen. The small things that add up over time, and cause people to have bad cruise experiences.

  11. What rate type did you book under? If it is early saver you will pay $50 per person ( $250 total for 5 ) to cancel or change to a different date/ship. The rest will be kept in an account for you to use with Carnival. If it is Past guest, or other fares you need to read the rules... Past Guest is 100% refundable before final payment.

Did you get insurance? If so does it have cancel for any reason clause? If you can still get that, you might look into it.

Carnival is well within their rights to change the itinerary for any reason, and if the US government decides to go back to the no visit policy the Carnival will honor it with no question. I totally understand booking for a destination, but I always warn friends that it can change for lots of reasons..

I suggest you talk to your travel agent on options ( even if that is Carnival ) if you self booked, you might want to call Carnival and ask them.

  12. Yes, that's right. You still have to collect it the last morning of the cruise. However if Carnival notes that most of the liquor collected that morning comes from port merchants it sends them the message that people are not happy with Carnival for not delivering it to their rooms.

I knew where you were going with it. I doubt they will care one way or another. Its less work for them and most people take the easiest route by buying on board.

  13. I am booked on labor day weekend, leaving Thursday and coming back Monday. Do you think there will be many children and booze cruisers or do most people get ready for start of school? Don't get me wrong, I like both, I'm just curious. I took a cruise in October and it was super quite. Thanks.

5 day cruises are not as bad as 3 day cruises... had this been a Sat to Mon on a holiday weekend I think it would be a heavy booze cruise..

That being said, we tend to find ourselves over holiday weekends, and what we see are a lot more 25+ somethings that are just starting their careers and dont have extra vacation days yet. It is nice to pick up a free national holiday on your cruise so you dont have to use one of the 5 or 10 vacation days that you might start your career with.

I have done a bunch of these cruises and they tend to be middle of the road... BUT it all just depends on the crowd that gets on the ship... one 20+ group of people that want to party and they might draw out others making it more a booze cruise, or it could just be a bunch of younger families that are looking for one quite vacation right before school starts again.

I will be on the Dream for Labor day weekend out of NO... Not to worried though as it is a 7 day cruise, and I expect it to be more laid back due to the length.

Have a great cruise and be prepared for anything... its all what we make it!

  14. Can you verify that we're able to get it from the cage?

I was thinking of getting a bunch of gift cards at 10% off, then going to the tables and getting chips for the 3% fee, and then keep the 7% profit.

If I did that at a table, they might let me only do it once if I don't end up doing any gambling. But if I get it at the cage, I suppose I can just hold on to the chips for a while and then cash them in later and they wouldn't know I didn't play?

Not only are they tracking your play at the table, they have started tracking your interactions at the cage. On the Elation, they required us to provide our S&S card for every transaction at the cage, from cashing in chips, getting my money out of the players account, to just simply making change from 2 - $20 bills to tip with the last day.

When we pressed the casino host about this, she informed us that this is a new fleet wide standard that is rolling out, and should be completed to all ships by end of June. It is being done to help Carnival track fraud, she claims more from an internal perspective than an external one. I am not so sure...

  15. The moral of the story is don't buy any liquor on a five or six day cruise - at least not from the onboard gift shop. Boycott the duty-free liquor on board and purchase it when you are ashore. When Carnival sees that they are delivering duty-free liquor from the Bahamas and their onboard sales are zero - they will get the message.

Well, for the price difference, i was not passing up the deal. 2 1 litter bottles of woodford reserve for $54 total. Even buying in KY, that would be $80, in NC its more like $95.

    Walking upstairs was worth it.

  16. I personally dont like it, but it is a bread pudding with dark chocolate in the bottom. They bring a white chocolate sauce that they pour over it, and as you eat you meet in the middle with white and dark chocolate mixing...

My wife loves this dish, and I felt I should warn folks who get it on American Tables ( longer sailings ) it is not the same dish as it used to be. She was disappointed because it had a bunch of nugget in it, not the right chocolates...

She did ask for the original recipe, and they made her some on the last day. The whole table enjoyed them (except me, I just stuck to a cheese plate)

  17. I saw a very large group... sit in the lido buffet area every morning. The women in this group stole so many pastries, croissants; and boxes of cereal...packing them away in gallon ziplock bags and stuffing them in their oversized bags. I saw this going on 3 mornings. I knew they saw me staring in disbelief. I guess they liked them so much they wanted a 2 month supply when they got home!

Not really sure that is stealing. Food is included... and no where does it list you can not take more than you can eat at one sitting.

Now if they tried to take it home, and US Customs found it, they would get fined ALOT of money...
