  1. Depending on which movie or novel one watches or reads they could replace humans in all areas. 😲🤭
  2. Than makes sense and that's how I understand it, but in the picture provided of Choose your Package provided in post 53 it doesn't use the term "specialty" but mentions "premium coffee" in both columns. Probably an oversight on the copy editor's part.
  3. Beers run $6-8, mixed drinks $8 and up. Using the calculator will help you to decide if it is worth it. Don't forget to factor in the time you spend ashore (and the package isn't operative on the private islands).
  4. Yes they do, but personally I would still check with the issuing authority to see how long that would take. I know here in Vermont if I go to the original town clerk's office where the birth was registered I can walk out with a copy that day (I'm not sure how long it would take to get a copy from the state itself).
  5. The regulations simply require "the original or a copy", nothing more, nothing less and the copy is a plain old photocopy. Bringing the original might be best but a photocopy will work. The State Department won't accept them for issuing a passport but they are still valid for use on a closed loop cruise, which only requires a government issued birth certificate attesting to birth in a state or territory (Puerto Rico certificates need to be issued after a certain date, one must look it up, because that territory passed legislation invalidating all certificates issued before that date due to rampant fraud). Over the years questions have come up regarding these credit card sized ones, short form, long forms, and even hand written ones and all have been accepted as reported by the questioner.
  6. You could always buy a bottle, likely having the drink package gives you a discount.
  7. Missing from the FAQ is the additional information is that the cruise has to travel in the area defined by the WHTI, which is generally Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
  8. I used the robot bartender on Royal and it was ok but not something I would like to see all of the time. A little miffed that I had to tip the machine but I do understand that a human has to restock things.
  9. Is there a copy of his birth certificate on file somewhere that you can get, or did you keep a copy when you sent off for the passport? I would also try to call the issuing authority, maybe they can provide it sooner than vital check can since vital check is just a middle man.
  10. Some lines do allow you to bring one bottle of wine onboard per person, so you can check on that. Whether or not you'll have to pay a corkage fee will depend on the cruise line as well.
  11. ID's need to be unexpired and I see @Ferry_Watcher answered as I started my reply, but she needs something to show that she is a US citizen and since she was born abroad that is likely a Naturalization Certificate. Since she wasn't born in the US her birth certificate doesn't establish US citizenship.
  12. If someone works for a government entity (local, state, federal) their work ID would also qualify.
  13. While a cruise lines might require an original the regulations do allow the use of a photocopy.
  14. It doesn't help that in the list pictured it lists "premium coffees" in both columns. I sail in a couple of years so things might change by then (given experience they will change).
  15. This varies by port and it is not universal.
  16. Normally don't make it to the course unless we're cruising with kids but I'll make it a point to visit during our upcoming Glory cruise.
  17. I agree with the first post, muster isn't just for the passengers, it's also to allow the crew to train and practice the event in real time. Whether or not this change will remain post COVID remains to be seen, the regulatory bodies involved may re-institute it at some point because it does have benefit from a safety perspective.
  18. Yes, much like anything else, really. It's still a good value for many though.
  19. Shortly after boarding we grab a drink from the Atrium bar (as mentioned, tax is charged in many ports and this applies even if you have the drink package and until you are in waters not controlled by the state you are sailing from). We usually sit for a bit with our drink and then we might grab a bite at the buffet. If the new muster procedure is still in use then we'll go to our muster station and get that done, then to the cabin once it's ready for us. If our luggage is there we will unpack everything after reviewing the receipts for our pre-cruise purchases. Then it's up to the top deck to watch sail away.
  20. Makes perfect sense since this would be an administrative and logistical nightmare to implement and any manager seriously putting this forward would find themselves working for NCL in rather short order.🤭
  21. I consider myself a corrector, not a hater because at the end of the day I don't care what you or anyone else does. The cruise line way is the right way because it is what is agreed upon by the employer and employee for how compensation will be handled, and that isn't going to change unless one of those parties insists on the change. And you are absolutely right on your last point.
  22. Check to see if your cruise line offers airport transfers on disembarkation day.
  23. I was going to suggest this because it's what we will be doing on our upcoming cruise.
  24. LOL, thanks for the suggestion. (Reminds me of the guy that got pulled over and the cop told him to say the alphabet starting with M. The guy answered, "Malphabet".)
