  1. I doubt it - the 'dress-downers' stuck out more than the 'dress-uppers', not that I took much notice really. I was too busy getting value from my drinks package!😁
  2. One or two smart days per week, however compliance with the 'smart' dress code seemed to be a lot less. I only wore a jacket once to a smart night and had no issues.
  3. Ambassador do have formal nights and nearly everyone seems to comply with the dress code more or less (quite similar to P&O). The average age on Ambassador is ancient BTW.
  4. We did 24 days on P&O Aurora last September and 22 days B2B on Ambassador at Easter. TBH, Ambassador is beating P&O hands down at the moment. Value for money, Ambassador is way better, food is better, entertainment is better, staff are generally better. They do still have a few maintenance issues with Ambience (particularly lifts and some air-con).
  5. Ambassador cruise line (the phoenix risen from CMV) have their second ship, Ambition starting to sail in a few weeks. They are sailing from other UK ports, e.g. Newcastle and Dundee in OP's neck of the woods. https://www.ambassadorcruiseline.com/
  6. No shorts in the dining room! (Even long, baggy ones).
  7. You beat me to it. I suppose the hatband could be in the colours of one's preferred Wendyball team...
  8. There is also a sartorial parallel here - baseball caps should only ever be worn in a baseball stadium (IMHO).😉
  9. I would think it is a function of geography and travel time (from Le Havre). To get to Omaha beach and the associated cemetery would probably be an extra hour's drive each way. It is not really feasible to do all of the Normandy beaches in one day. I did a battlefield tour of the Normandy campaign which easily filled 3 days. The American beaches, St Mere Eglise and other sites are at least a day's tour in themselves.
  10. This reminds of the time we took the sleeper train from Paris to Venice. As we boarded, there was a family who had put all of their cases into their room and were now scratching their heads as to how they were to get into their room. We giggled to ourselves and walked onwards.
  11. Did you call 'sockurity' to have them removed? Ah, my coat and taxi, thank you.
  12. Barolo grappa as a post prandial, after a dinner of guinea fowl - life is really rather good.
  13. This is how yoga gurus (or many other gurus) come about. Do or say stuff convincingly whilst 'under the influence', it is amazing how many people will just lap it up. BTW - I am currently under the influence...😉
  14. Drink the wine before you try to do the daft, bendy stuff - simple really!
  15. DW is asking - do they still do the 'stitch and *****'/'knit and natter' sessions? On Voyager a few years ago they had complimentary embroidery kits which she thoroughly enjoyed doing (and still uses the end products).
  16. There will also be a cultural bias in the sample, seeing as how Which subscribers will be almost exclusively British. This will affect perceptions of US styled cruise lines versus UK styled cruise lines.
  17. We have just booked our second RSS cruise for December on Splendor. I was a bit concerned to see the posts about the missing crab legs, as DW was all over them on our last RSS cruise. The soft shell crab will definitely interest us both however.
  18. I thought that most cruise lines add a fee of 3% to 5% to do this? I cannot believe Royal Caribbean do not do this.
  19. It will probably be the best pint of Guinness you will ever taste. I have been on a tasting mission since then and have not found one as good (yet). I shall be continuing my quest...
  20. Spoilsport! I had the popcorn ready for the ensuing confused meltdown (maybe this whole woke thing has put comments about that off limits?)
  21. I cannot say that I am salivating reading this, though it did keep me alive.
  22. Bacon grill was OK - I used to make a decent spag bol or shepherds pie with the corned beef. The Cheese processed went into/onto the instant mash on the shepherds pie. You did need some extras (onions mainly) to jazz it up a bit.
  23. As were oatmeal blocks. Let us not discuss baby's heads though...
  24. Anyone of a certain age who served in the British Army will remember this stuff.
