They did, 2016.   Relatively recent for a steel giant like a cruise ship.  They were actually sliding doors before the dry dock.  So they may seem outdated, but some interior designer must have decided they were "chic" or something.

Nothing says "make room for me" like smacking someone in the back with a tempered glass door, am I right?

Hi, yes I agree. We are recently returned from the Greek Islands on the Jade...with a sliding door . Looking at the video the Sun seems dated ..but the look  maybe is  "chic". We liked the Spirit so should (hopefully) like the Sun. Anyway it's booked now !!

  2. Our NCL took us by boat then by bus up the winding road (great views) to Fira and then on to Oia ... we were given one and a half hours to see  Oia -it was insanely busy .

We were then taken to a winery for sampling along with cheese and breadsticks (included) . Very welcome as we did not have time to grab any food in Oia.

We were then given a ticket to the cable car - no alternative. We stood for more then a hour and were very worried as the time on board was 2.30pm (I think we arrived at 7.00am ) so time was short.

As it was the ship did not leave till way past the time on board as I guess many many passengers were stuck in the Q.

We are on the Sun's transatlantic and many people on our Roll Call are already aboard doing B2B (Seattle to Miami/NYC) and then staying on for the transatlantic to Lisbon.  I specifically asked about the current situation regarding the odor.  The person who posted from the ship today reported that there is no smell now in the areas cited on the previous cruise (aft elevator lobbies and cabins/hallways from the aft elevators to the stern).

Thanks, Travelling2Some ...that's good positive news.

  4. September 26th  12.00 noon- the line down to the cable car along a very narrow street was 1 hour 20 minutes.

Those who opted to walk said the path was slippy and had donkey poo !!  very dangerous in their opinion but didn't want to wait.

OK we were on a cruise ship but believe me you could hardly move on Santorini . Too many ships in port.

Even booked NCL shore excursions leave you to take the cable car back down

  5. Thanks everyone for your advice. There is a basic NCL tour ...that gives you a ticket for the cable car down .

I will check if there are any other cruise ships in on the 1st October .

Great suggestion to use the NCL tour then ditch it ...also may get us a quicker tender.

We may be reasonably fit but I don't think two 72 year old will risk coming down the donkey path !!!
