We returned from this tour August 13th. Enjoyed everything except lodge in Fairbanks. We did this same tour years ago. The first three lodges were all beautiful and great to stay at. We were not overjoyed with lodge food so we sought, local eateries. While at Denali try pizza place across the street. Very good, atmosphere rustic and full of photo history. Easy to walk to. As you approach stores, go almost to end to the left. I think it was called Prospectors. There is only one such restaurant. We were told it is where the locals so. Another told where to go was "Humpy's" in Anchorage. Very 60's more important the fish was best we have had. Everyone was talking about the halibut. Also a dinner/horse drawn wagon tour was well worth the costs. There is such a tour in Kenai. Heard that one was just ok. We would do it again from Denali. All included tours were very enjoyable and informative. Some excitement on the train to Fairbanks. First delayed as train was approaching depot a guy jumped off train. Opened emergency and jumped. Entire train ride, the meal and beauty was great journey. Leading to the disappointment of accommodation. We have completed several Princess land tours and felt confident with any accommodations. We would rate this as at best a 2 star. Considering what we are charged per day that is not acceptable. Fairbanks is large so many lovely hotels available. Sure you will enjoy your trip. Joyce

Considering cabin aft (looking at wake) on the Sky Caribe. Do you know if there is an Ash problem. I know on some ships there is. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

On the Sky Princess is there a problem with ash landing on the balcony in the wake view cabins?

On the Sky Princess can someone tell me what the difference is between a Deluxe balcony and a Premier Balcony besides the price. .

As well travelled cruisers over the past 20+ years we have booked many non cruise tours. NEVER near close to missing the ship. Most private ones have been found on Roll Calls for the ship and date of your journey. We too have found most desired tours fill up way before travel date. We have also on CC asked If anyone has taken a private tour where ever and do they recommend it to others. Wish you well.

We will be traveling on the Sky Princess, if you know does it have the automatic night lighting? We recently travelled a ship that had the feature and find it most annoying. Is there a way to disable the feature. Can the cabin steward disable? Thank you in advance. Joyce

Glad I found this thread. It has been years since traveling on Carnival. Will be in Oct, and it surprises their are charges on room service items. The cruise line we travel on usually 3X a year only extra charge if ordering pizzas. $3 for specialty pizza. Also if ordering non package beverage item. Glad to be aware and will appreciate policy of other cruise line in July.
