Our 9am nonstop flight from Newark arrives 2pm (7pm our time). We intend to take a taxi to our hotel in Waikiki. I have never been able to sleep on a plane so do you think we would be too tired to do a luau that picks you up at 4:45pm? Or should we just walk around a bit, have dinner and do it the next day after Pearl Harbor and City tour? I just hate to waste any time. I'm sorry I didn't allot for another day before the cruise.

I just booked Maui with Alamo. The confirmation says shuttles start about 8am and do the loop every 15-20 minutes until 5pm. After 5pm you can call at 1-808-872-1470. Hope this helps. Ellie

Thanks all for you quick replies. I just booked rental cars in Honolulu for disembark day (our flight doesn't leave until 8pm) and for the two days in Maui. Do I need to book two or one day in Kauai seeing the ship leaves at 2pm on day two. Also, does it matter what times you put in for pickup and return, say you enter 8am but don't get off the ship until 8:30 or 9am.

How far in advance do you need to book car rental and tours? Our cruise is not until May, 2014 but on another forum someone said they book the same day as they book airfare.

Is it doable to pick up a rental car in Waikiki, drive the Oahu circle and be back at the hotel in Waikiki for a 4pm pickup for a luau. Not sure when the rental car place opens but will keep it until the next day to go to Diamondhead and return it before we board the ship. Thanks-Ellie

Will the rental car companies pick you up at the pier on debarkation day (POA) and you can return the car to them at the airport that afternoon? Our flight is not until 8pm.

Five Below has the drawstring backpacks for $3. I bought two. They are

exactly the same size as the ones in the sports stores that sell for $10-$18. They fold up so small you can put two into an old makeup pouch with room for the $1 ponchos. They even have a zippered compartment.
