  1. You guys are both funny, arguing over which sucker bet is worse.

What is even more funny is seeing our pal completely destroy a thread on the open forums. The term village idiot comes to mind. But that is okay though. We don't mind him here. Here can be our pet. THAT's my boy! We do have to learn to control him though so he doesn't get himself into more trouble. Anyone got a muzzle we can use to make him behave? :p

Now they do allow dogs in the casino if they are doing a service. And he certainly is. Cleaning the ash tray I am using for my cigars while I shoot my dice trying to roll my seven. :D

  2. Thank you Yo Eleven, your info jives with what I've researched. I asked on the Princess board if they accept hop bets on Princess ships and got only one reply, no. I guess the objective of the hops seven and eleven bet in the dark side strategy I was reading about is to hedge your don't pass bet on the roll out. If you survive the roll out, you lose your 7/11 bets but now the odds are in your favor. If shooter rolls out 7/11, you win $15/$17 and recoup some of your don't pass bet. This strategy make any sense to you?

Yeah princess does not do hop bets. But, I have found the staff there to be awesome. Dealers there were way cool on all ships I have been on.

You are correct. SOME darksiders will hedge their don't pass bet with the hop seven bet. I was in Biloxi and didn't see it going on that much at all. They have hop bets on their layouts there. It isn't a good bet, but better than ANY SEVEN. So if you want to hedge on the come out roll with a seven, it makes sense to hop it rather than doing any seven. Good luck!

  3. You guys are both funny, arguing over which sucker bet is worse. At lease you agree that they are sucker bets.

Yo Eleven, do I know you from the Sea Escape and Sun Cruz craps tables?

    Bruce

    I have been on both....

Very possible. Did Sea Escape a lot until they shipped out of here.

Then hit Princess, but they left as well. Supposedly a new ship is coming to town again and they should have craps. I am trying to see if I recognize you in your avatar but too small, but you probably seen me there. Thumbs up!

  4. Beg all you want, what I stated is true. I guess to a low roller such as yourself that extra $1 makes it a MUCH better bet. As you can now afford to supersize your next gourmet meal at McDonald's. For most people that have maore than $30 in their bankroll they would call it a slightly better bet. All the proposition bets payoff less than the true odds, that is why they are called "Sucker's Bets" I see now why you tout them.

Keep posting your nonsense, it is very entertaining....

And you got hired in Vegas as a dealer? Funny and sad at the same time.

Yes they are all sucker bets. Nor do I tout them. I am comparing the two. But, you are too ignorant to comprehend this.

But who cares anyway, as I said comparing them I would make a hop bet any day over ANY SEVEN. Just because it is a much better bet doesn't make it a good bet.

  5. On a $3 bet any 7 pays back $12 if the 7 rolls. A $3 bet on a 3-way 7 hopping wil pay back $13. If the extra $1 is your definition of MUCH better, so be it. On the hopping 7 you can choose to bet all 3 ways or you can choose that the 7 will come 6-1 5-2 or 4-3.

Oh please. This coming from a so called Vegas dealer?

Almost every casino pays out the Any Seven at 4:1 odds, which is worse than the true odds which are 5:1. This is a terrible bet to make in craps. Hop bets as I stated accurately is a much better bet. The house edge on the Any Seven bet is a whopping 16.67%. End of story.

  6. OK all you savvy craps players. I was reading about a dark side betting strategy where this guy bet $25 on don't pass, $3 hop sevens, and $1 eleven. He then pressed in some situations but my first question was, what the heck is $3 hop sevens? A little internet research revealed hop bets are single roll bets with 15:1 odds, not marked on table, bets are made verbally with the stickman. Anybody ever heard of this?

    Let's keep this simple.

Hopping sevens is a bet that a seven will be rolled on the VERY next roll.

Any combination of a seven on the dice on the next roll will be a winner.

    This being: 6 and 1

    4 and 3

    5 and 2

    This pays 15:1

It is a MUCH better bet than the ANY SEVEN bet which pays 4:1

Yes, most layouts do not have hop bets present. However, I have seen them on Biloxi casino layouts though, as hopping there is pretty common.

Royal Caribbean Cruiseline allowed me to make hop bets. Nobody there playing craps knew what the hell I was doing and kept asking questions.

    It ain't Vegas, baby. LOL

    Hope this helps.

  7. On the Oasis the craps min was always $5, never less. Single odds and I don't think they ever offered 2X during the week. The blackjack went to $6 for a couple of hours. There are 3 of the virtual blackjack machines for $2 min. There is also a Texas Holdem table game which looks like a loser to me. Lots of Texas Holdem tournaments. My DW hit a big win on Let it Ride.

Lots of one cent machines but you have to play max like 50 lines x 15 credits = $7.50 or more a spin on some machines to hit the bigger jackpots so they are not what they seem.

Andy, the Oasis is the big dog. I'm so glad we went and will go back again.

Considering the number of passengers did they have TWO craps tables?

And what was it like trying to get a spot during peak times?

  8. I just got off the Oasis and the table was like ice all week, they could have used it as a salad bar. The dealers were some of the best I've encountered. I really don't like it when the shooter is playing the Don't Pass line.

Players were trying everything, Pass, Come, Don't Pass, Don't Come, Horn, midnight, hop, field; nothing seemed to work for long enough to cash out a winner. Only two nights did I cash out a winner; even for the week.

Best news I heard in a long time! :D

  9. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO The other Idaho 21: Question 1: You are in the Come bet area and the point is rolled. After the Pass Line bets are paid off your Come bet is moved to the number just made. The dealer may ask if you want odds on that bet.

You are in the Come bet area and 7 is rolled. The dealers collect all Pass Line bets and any Come bets on a point. Also, they collect active Place bets. The Don't Pass bets get paid and the Come bets in the Come area get paid.

You are in the Come area and a 2,3,or 12 is rolled. The dealer will collect your bet. If a Yo or Yoeleven is rolled you will be paid for your Come bet. Remember, a Come bet is like a Pass Line bet. It pays off on a 7 or 11. Loses on a 2,3,12 just like a Pass Line bet.

I have played the Doey Don't system for years. Not at any casino I wish to be comped at though. However, it is not recommended by Scoblette or even The Captain himself these days. I have had the heat turned up on me in several casinos when using that system. I don't play at one casino and the other has changed ownership. I now use mostly the Captain's High Roller System. The Captain and Scoblette both use that same system.

Since when did ANY casino give a rat's arse about the system a player uses, especially a doey-don't. You gotta be kidding? Worried about not receiving comps because of your system? That is ludicrous. All they care about is what your buy in was, your average per roll bet and the amount of time you play. There have been more times than not I can coun't where I was killing the house and the other players who were playing the pass line were taking a bath. I was way up and asked for rewards and they didn't blink twice about giving me anything. Maybe they just don't like you. Hahahaha

  10. Great... how do I do that:)

    Paddy Anne

The same exact way you would for a pass line bet, except you put your chips on the table in front of you and tell the dealer to take odds on your come point. He or she will place the pet for ya. Simple as that.

  11. This question may have been answered, but I have not gone through all of the pages. If I am a "right" bettor on a 5$ table with 3-4-5 odds, and always take maximum odds, and occationally take some come bets with full odds, whats a good bankroll? Will $200 let me play for a little while, or would I need some more? I am leaving on the norwegian dawn on superbowl Sunday. I am hoping those are the odds for the tables in there for I heard it in some other forum.

"A little while" is very vague? If the table is warm then you can expect to play for "awhile" I guess. (1 plus hours). However, a cold table will eat away at your money real fast. If 1 hour isn't enough play time, bump it up to an even $500. Good luck.

  12. LOL.....Must have heard "Front Line Winner...Back Line Skinner" quite a few times....:p

I heard it all night!!!!! But what saved me was the atmosphere was awesome. I even gave the dealers tips at my expense for a job well done.

As for me, I wanted to kick the crap out of myself for not walking away sooner. Those pass line players really raked in the money when I was there.

My turn will come again. :D

  13. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Yo Eleven: How was your trip to St. Croix? How did you do in the Casino and at the Craps table.

Well the casino is in the middle of nowhere which was interesting. The staff was VERY friendly and knowledgeable. It was a lot of fun and enjoyed it a lot. Not a big place but they have all the major games. As for how I made out. After a few hours play I took a bath. Cruizincurt would have been laughing his arse off counting his stack of chips. There was no such number seven that night. Would go back in a heartbeat though and i highly recommend the place. Can't win everytime, but my time is a coming.

  14. Well I hope you people are happy. I've spent a huge chunk of my day working through all 23 pages of this thread :-)

Many thanks to all of you for the valuable info.

I'm going on RCCL's Liberty in three weeks and cruising is the only time I ever get to play Craps, so I'm looking forward to "making my donation" via dice again. With your help, and with a little luck, maybe my donation will be minimized, and my time at the table will be maximized.

Special thanks to Yo Eleven for all the info and for the review of your Liberty cruise. I will drop my expectations for the casino WAY back, so as to avoid disappointment. For all of the info you've given with me, I'm ALMOST prepared to forgive you for being a wrong bettor :->

For the record, I'm a right bettor. Just a basic pass line + odds + place the 6 & 8 guy, with the occasional hard way if I feel I'm not losing fast enough.

I also enjoy toking the crew. It's just fun when they're in the game with you and it seems to elevate the mojo of the table and pep things up a bit. I used to make hard way bets for the crew, but after reading all of this and watching some youtube clips, I think I'll just stick to keeping the tokes on the pass line + odds along side my bet.

I read somewhere today that the dealers income is 50 to 80 percent tips. I hope that's just land based casinos and not cruise ships, because from my observations, there wasn't much tipping going on in the ships casino. Anyone have any info on that?

I live in NC and there are no table games anywhere around here. There's a video based casino on an indian reservation a couple hours away. I went there once. ONCE. It just wasn't fun. It takes real dice, real chips, and real dealers to make it fun, for me at least. The place was packed so obviously others do not agree.

OK I've rambled on long enough I suppose.

    Thanks again everyone!

You are welcome!!!!!!! Let us know how you make out on your cruise. Hopefully your experience on Liberty will be better in the casino.

  15. Hey! Piemom9397 here. I adore craps. I won't say I'm a newbie, because I've been playing it since Vegas in 2006 (went from slots to 3 card poker to BJ to craps in the course of 4 visits to Vegas) but I do have to say that I couldn't tell you the odds and how much payout I'm going to get if I do a come or place bet. I just love playing and have found that the dealers have always taken care of me wherever I go. :D I never played the $5 tables until cruising--the first night on Voyager of the Seas, DH & I won $450! And I've been hooked ever since.

I have a quirky thing I do with the field--if a number on the field has rolled 3 times, I'll place a bet on it. I'd say that has worked for me 8 times out of 10. If the point is a 2, 4, 6 or 8, I'll do that number the hard ways. Ever so often I'll place a C & E bet but that's about it.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread--love it!!

    Welcome!!!!!

I will do my very best to convert you to the dark side! :D

  16. On our past cruises on Zuiderdam and Westerdam there were very few craps players. How was your experience on the Eurodam? I expected there to be lots of craps players among the older cruisers, but I guess they all went to bed at 9:00. So we will not be going on HAL for the foreseeable future.

I used to play PASS and two COME but lately I've dropped the COME since they get taken out too often with the random throwers. So now I'm PASS and place numbers.

Sounds like a recipe for becoming a full time wrong better from now on. Oh wait, you are bi and swing the bat both ways cuz you don't know which team to play for. Hahaha

  17. won $7200.00 on $5 slot machine Mariner of the seas. Won $1100. on Brilliance of the seas $5 slot machine . Then, won $4000. on $5 slots again on Mariner. It would have been $8,000. but just discussed lowering play from 2 coins to 1 so we could play twice as long. A lady hit $4,000 about 30 min. prior to us hitting this one. We weren't upset about the lost $4,000. we would have won because we made the conscious decision that we would be happy with half the jackpot if we hit in order to prolong play. Won $500. a couple of times I think on the Majesty of the seas.

How much tax did you have to pay on these winnings? :D

  18. just remember as a dark side player you should stand in the corner of the table and try and remain very quiet when you win. The dark side can be a very lonely place

The advice is genuine but I don't follow it. I roll my own dice and try to roll my own seven. If the right bettors are being jerks about my playing there then I start to yell seven and when they roll one I celebrate. Screw 'em! :D

In other words, there is no need to be too shy when you are playing the dark side!!!!!!

    :p

  19. Ok..I was talking to a friend that is going with us and told him that I was thinking of betting dark and he was a little stressed out. He said that he always is looking to promote the positive energy on the table. I think I am throwing in with you...I would rather pay for my cruise!!!!

Hahaha. He will no longer be your friend. I love it. Dark siders are a clique and work together quietly. We are like the surfer boys in that movie point break. But we only rob the casino by playing the dark side, not as presidents. LOL

  20. Thanks for both answers. We cruise on the victory in January and I know that as cold as I have seen the tables on cruises, and for reasons listed by cruzincurt, I am REALLY leaning to betting dark.

Now be honest if you go in and a table is hot you don't ever bet right?????

No, I do not. I simply stop betting and watch. When the time is right I go back in. Plus, remember if someone has a very hot roll I am usually out of that decision because all my don't points were probably rolled anyway so I wait for the next shooter anyway. And chances are the next shooter isn't gonna roll 20 times in a row like the last guy. But in general, no I don't bet right, ever.

  21. Oh and since 6 and 8 are the best odds on the right side of the table, do you bet odds on your dp bet if one of them is the point?

Most people won't. They will actually remove their bet from the don't pass line and wait for a decision to be made. I think that is a dumb move though in my opinion. The seven is still more likely to come out and the payout on the odds is higher if the seven is rolled before the 6 or the 8. If someone is too chicken to ride it out, then don't play the dark side. Bok bok bok bok!!!!! Cluck, Cluck, Cluck!

I laugh at those fools that pull off their 5 dollar bet because they are worried they are gonna lose it. Come on. Have some balls here! LOL!
