We made two bids.  I wonder if they are both turned down if we can still place bids on any of the suites that were offered in the first place.

I don’t think so. By the time you get your rejection emails, the bidding will more than likely be closed for you. Not to mention bids on the suites will have been received and accepted.

Does anyone have any experience boarding separately than someone else in their cabin? My fiancé has a class in Long Beach the morning we depart and would like to go to it and get over to the ship around 2:45 and board. Would give me a couple hours to get our sanctuary and other reservations sorted onboard.

Hopefully he won’t run into traffic.

  3. For those that wondered, here is Princess fine print explanation about an accepted bid:

Once a Bid is accepted, the Guest is legally bound to complete payment for the price stated in the Bid. If a Guest's credit card does not go through, is declined, or cannot otherwise be charged, PCL may (but is not required to) reach out to the Guest for an alternate method of payment or may disqualify the Successful Bidder and return the Guest to their original category, all in its sole discretion

apparently not with the phone number they provided...800-774-6237

The gentleman I spoke with did not have a clue what I was talking about.

The only point I was really trying to make was that I thought it would be a bit easier since you had already provided a credit card number when you bid.

Some people might have thought the same.

Sorry, if this post was beneath you.

Don’t understand your negative attitude. I was just pointing out for those that didn’t know, you don’t need your TA or to call Princess, to pay for your upgrade. If you had read the fine print of the bidding process you would have known you have to provide your payment information again. Congratulations on your winning a bid.

How do I check the bids that I made?

    Tom😀

Go to your acceptance email from Princess or go into your booking online on their website, find the bidding upgrade area, go through the process of providing last name and booking number, then your bidding offers will show with the meters to change it. That’s the long way. Easy is through your email acceptance.

Being far forward would be a reason that I would hesitate to bid at all.

Does anyone here know if Princess is keeping winning bids locked in.  So, you can't decline the upgrade?  I think that is how it is supposed to work.  But I am thinking that I have heard differently.

Yes. It’s part of the bidding agreement. No choice in cabin and you can’t change your mind once the bid has been accepted.

we  bid  the  lowest bid available for  our  club class mini and our  bid  was  excepted.

Hope your  bid is, as  well.

Thank you. We bid on club class mini but so far no rejection or acceptance. We cancelled the mini suite bid as we were concerned about location. We are happy with our D4 premium deluxe balcony assignment.

We got our cabin assignment today. No free upgrade, just the exact category of our GTY booking.  So I added a mini suite bid to our other bid categories but only offered the minimum  we are happy with our D4 but thought we’d try for a mini at minimal bid cost. There are mini suites open per their website. I will let you know how it goes.

Cancelled the mini suite bid. Got concerned it might not be a location we would enjoy. Happy with our D4 cabin. Just wish the bathroom was a little bigger.

Not necessarily, I would think letting others that are in mini suites bid for higher suites would open up lower suites for those booked in say balcony's to then bid on mini suites. That would then potentially open up more balcony's for insides and ocean views to bid on that they might not normally book therefore getting people into a cabin that might stay unsold rather than leaving them open at full price. I for one know I would never book a penthouse or owners suite unless I had a great casino offer or a chance to bid on an upgrade. Heck that's the only reason I booked a mini suite in the first place was because of my casino promo. Again this is just my opinion and I could be completely wrong

I meant they wouldn’t block a category just for upgrades, like full suites for example. They can get more money from people that book them at going rate. If they are still open around final payment time, then I think they might become available for bidding.
I don’t think they block any category for bidding. It doesn’t make sense. There could be people on wait list for a particular category too. My 2 cents. We are all guessing anyway.

Exactly, that was what I was implying when I stated that it also depends upon which cabin you currently have and perhaps your onboard spending patterns, status, how many are in your cabin (lifeboat capacity) and probably a host of other things. Your bid amount does count as part of it though.

It’s like the upgrade fairy. Nobody knows how they pick to accept bids. I’d guess it leans more toward how bad they need your booked cabin. IMHO

I know with other cruise lines it does not matter when you bid. The system often waits until close to sailing to award bids. It really depends upon the highest bid, your current cabin and luck! You may still win!

Actually not true. Per Princess, highest bid does not ensure winning.

Bid Acceptance Process: Throughout and after the conclusion of the Bidding Period, PCL will compile all then-existing Bids for the various stateroom categories for the Cruise and may accept a Bid from a Guest for each available upgrade room (the "successful Bidder"), taking into consideration multiple factors and items. PCL will review Bids based on highest positive revenue impact, but reserve the right to consider and review other and different factors. All Bids will be converted to USD at the time they are considered. All determinations as to which Bid (if any) is accepted, who the Successful Bidder is (if any), and what is considered in accepting a Bid shall all be determined by PCL in its sole and absolute discretion. Successful Bidders are subject to verification. The highest Bid may not be accepted and Guest that places the highest Bid for a stateroom category is not guaranteed to be the Successful Bidder.
