They booked directly with Seabourn, as we did. They did not file a credit card dispute and the refund went directly to their card. They are US based.
New news....Talked to Seabourn yesterday and they indicated our refund was processed on May 28. They even confirmed it in an email we received today. No sign of it on our CC however. We shall see........
Thanks for sharing that good news!!

I know this is not directed at me, but I find the question confusing. Don't all refund come from Seabourn? There may be a question:"did you file a dispute with the credit card company?"
As for TA - I have not heard of any of them refunding cruise fares.
What is your point?
Sent from my iPhone using ForumsSorry to confuse you. I'm afraid that has happened on multiple occasions.

The same, would have been great fun.
So get this, another couple that was traveling with us on the Antarctica trip canceled a few days after we did. They have no status and received their refund, which was also just the deposit, in about 4 weeks. We are Diamond and have been waiting well over 70 days. We also had another trip booked that Seabourn canceled and still waiting on that payment as well. Moral of the story at least for us if we ever book Seabourn again, it will only be one trip at a time and we will certainly limit our financial exposure in airfare, hotels, excursions, etc which can be booked safely anywhere.
Did your friend’s refund come from Seabourn. A credit card dispute, or TA?

Amazing....we canceled our Antarctic cruise scheduled for 12/20/2020 on March 22. We had only put down the initial deposit. It has now been 71 days of silence from Seabourn. Doesn’t seem to be much logic in how they are approaching refunds. Status apparently does not buy you anything.
It would have been much more fun to have met you on this cruise, rather than on this thread.

I received the refund for my Antarctic cruise on 5/28. It was three weeks to the day I cancelled my cruise.
Can you provide some information that might help the rest of us: Did you get the refund directly from Seabourn or from your credit card? What is your status level with SB? Do you have any theory to explain why you got your refund so quickly? Thanks!

And, now with nobody on the top effective tomorrow and without any press release not sure Seabounr will be around much longer.
Which is exactly why a credit card chargeback is the best course of action.

It is primary except when it isn't (in a number of cases). 🙂
There are 52 data points (cruise bookings) listed on the chart. For the first 26 of them by date, 11 have been refunded (42%), for the next 26, two have been refunded (8%). I'll leave it at that and you can draw your own conclusions.
Edit: Note that I manually reanalyzed the data with the most recent chart posted by OP. There may be an error or two, but the substance of the results are the same.

JPH814 is so kind as to create and maintain this chart. FYI, no need to add to his workload - it took me 3 seconds to copy and paste his table into an excel spreadsheet.
Good idea. Never thought I could just copy/paste! So, here is the chart, sorted by cruise date. Looks like that is a primary factor for refunds:

It may appear that way, But if your look, the refunds appear to be more closely correlated to the request date than the sale date. Here is the data for those 12 who have received refunds ( Again, beware of small sample size).

Thank you.
Meanwhile, my credit card dispute has at least temporarily returned my money to my account.

Looking at the spreadsheet, it appears that those with earlier cruises are being refunded before those with later dates. This conforms to what Seabourn has said to me.

It took Amex recharge to get $$ back, no communication from SB to me or agent.
Did AMEX issue a preliminary refund pending Seabourn's response to the dispute, or is your money fully and forever refunded by AMEX

Just got an email from Chase this morning saying you can dispute a transaction digitally, making it really easy to file a claim. We were "thrown" off the Encore prematurely over 60 days ago, and no refund received on the $10,000+they have promised to pay. Will be disputing soon.
Linda
FIled a claim yesterday with JP Morgan, my 60th day. We shall see...

So, yesterday marked the 60-day benchmark, so I called JP Morgan and initiated chargeback proceedings. We will see how this journey ends...

Just looked at my Allianz policy and just examined the language related to financial default and Whoa!
I purchase Allianz travel insurance for all my cruises. If you purchase the insurance in a timely fashion after making a reservation, one is supposed to be insured against the financial default of the cruise line. I had assumed I would be covered for all of my losses.
The insurance does not require covering anything except the amount which is non-refundable. So, since my cruise is still in the 100% refundable category, I went with the minimum coverage, intending to add to coverage as non-refundable benchmarks are reached.
In reading my policy today, it looks like I will only be covered for $750 pp in the case of a financial default, even though my fully refundable deposit was $14,000. Ouch.
Does this sound like a familiar situation to the group?
Many thanks.

in normal times you can have them refunded. I had one refunded when it was coming close to expiration and it was clear we wouldn't be use it before it did. These days .. I have no idea how long it would take to get one back.
1 hour ago, MightyQuinn said:In normal times, there has been no problem getting FCDs refunded within the 4-year expiration time frame. Even now in the age of covid, we recently requested a refund for two FCDs and received a credit back to our AMEX in slightly over a month. But if you look at the Refund Roll Call thread, there are others who are still waiting for their FCD refunds so there is no assurance that it will happen quickly. Best to get the request in ASAP so you're in the refund conga line. You want to be in the game before the music stops.
Thanks for the insights!

My wife and I each have two future cruise deposits (FCD-a total of $2K) with SB, and know that they are supposed to be automatically refunded if not used within four years. Does anyone know --in normal times--if one could successfully have them refunded?
Many thanks.
And, congrats to those who have gotten their specific cruise deposits refunded. I'm nearing day 60, so I will contact Chase after that time and initiate a dispute.

Hey Linda,
Long time no see! Hope all is well!
IIRC, FCD supposedly get auto-refunded if not used within four years of purchase.

We've been to Antarctica and several other destinations on the Quest. Great ship. We were booked on the December 2020 South Georgia itinerary, but cancelled due to COVID-19 health and travel risks. My hat is off to whomever is so confident about their own health risks and the travel situation in the coming months. Best of health to you.

Cruise scheduled for December 20, 2020
Cancelled through TA on 3/20/20. Told that it would be two months till refund received.
Excursions refunded 4/16
Nothing else to report.
-
A further update: Seabourn's cancellation policy re this tour has changed. While all other excursions allow cancellations outside of four days, this tour locks one in months in advance.

Just returned from Iceland, we used Your Day Tours. We were a group of 12 in a small bus with a great guide, Addy. Hit all the sites on the Golden Circle and also able to do a stop at a farm where we were able to visit horses and sheep in their barns, sheep had just had their lambs or were about to at any minute. We never would have been able to see everything on our own and the guide added so much to the experience - she even explained the naming process for children. We paid $92US each, organized by someone on our roll call - we ended up with 4 mini buses. It was a great day.
Thanks for sharing this information.

Highly recommend a trip to this area. Wonderful sights on way to falls. When you get to the falls, don't forget to stare at the beautiful bay just opposite of the falls. We spent more time staring at it, than at the falls.

Post of the Day!
On another matter, based upon some of the recent posts, last night I sent an email to Seabourn, requesting a status update. I just received from them a detailed listing of my deposit charges (along with amounts per cc) and a personalized response saying that I should receive my refund in 10-14 days. Not sure that this level of detail is because I submitted a CC dispute, but it was nice to see that someone actually looked into my account.
🙂
