  1. We disembarked yesterday after the 10 day cruise and we are booked for October 21, I cant wait to see the changes!! They covered sections of the promenade deck with plywood and had begun to sand the murals. We were in the DOS and the only complaint we had was that the windows tended to get foggy. (oh ya, one of the closet doors felt like it was off the runner).

  2. Our butler was less then great, he did the bare minimum and had to be asked several times for things. We had Patrick as our room steward and he got some of what we planned to tip the butler as he was always picking up the butler's slack. We asked our butler to have milk stocked as the kids drink it at bed time and naps, our butler promised it would be taken care of, we ran out several times and he seemed grumpy when we called to ask for it at bedtime after he said he was getting it that afternoon but never did. Our coffe machine got messed up on day 3, butler said he was going to clean and stuck it daily, on day 10 when we left the boat it was still messed up.

So sorry you had a crappy butler. Ours was great!! Mentioned that it was our anniversary and he had the room decorated with bells and baloons.

Windows got a bit foggy once and a while. And got attacked by bird poop.

  3. I was given an upgrade to 12502 in 2013, and yes it's worth losing the balcony to be in that suite. You're just footsteps from the pool deck, and those huge windows give you a fantastic view.

Being so far forward, the balcony would have been so windy.

I would do it again in a heartbeat!! I went to a get together in 12502 and it's great!!

  4. Scott knew something was up, but was pleasantly surprised!! It's going to be tough to be in a regular suite now. Lol!! It was just the 2 of us, we had plenty of room. Our next door neighbors had a little get together in 12502 after our cabin crawl. That is a different setup and is beautiful, too

  5. Is this some kind of strategy you folks play? Buy a lower tier room in the hopes of paying more for an upgrade later - with the gamble that the upgrade will be less than the on-line rate?

Y'all take those upsells. That'll leave our (as yet to be assigned) balcony room eligible for better assignment.

I am cruising this Sunday and this was my first upsell. As soon as I booked our DOS I posted on our roll call that there was a family suite with balcony open. One of our roll call was able to upsell to the suite we gave up. Win win for all

  6. I'll give you one recommendation, and pleas please please just google it and check it out. Omni Parker House. Coolest dam hotel I have ever stayed at. Old fashioned, cool bars, and great restaurant. It's even supposed to be haunted! We stayed 3 nights before our cruise. I can't wait to get back there!

    bbryan,

    Please come to Boston soon!!

    Patty and Scott

  7. path.... you notified your PCC so that leads me to believe he couldn't upsell you

mrobstad.... you use the word "upgrade" which a PCC can do but you still had to contact the upsell dept independently... so the PCC can do nothing for you concerning an upsell

Dont need a PCC to tell me to call the upsell department

Thanks for the feedback.. based on the two replies, the PCC still cannot book, hold, prioritize, or be involved to secure an upsell

I think you are right. This is my first cruise that I was able to upsell. When I did the first upsell, I forgot to ask about the suite luggage tags, I called my PCC and he had them sent to me because we were getting close to the sailing date. Now that I did another upsell, I took a sharpie, crossed out the number and wrote in the new number...I hope our luggage finds us, LOL!! That would be perfect, in the DOS and having to wear the same clothes every day!!

  8. PCC can circumvent the upsell process? I may be very wrong but I was told that the normal NCL PCC does not have access or ability to work the upsell since they are a completely different department

I called my NCL PCC after my upsell and he was almost as excited as me. I have booked most of my cruises through him and he knew how disappointed I was when I booked the cruise the suites were starting at 2600pp.

  9. On my first Getaway cruise, I received an email and took an upsell from a guarantee inside...just to de-bunk that "mini-suite and above" rumor. Maybe it's changed, I don't know...

Do you remember how close you were to the sailing when you did the upsell?

We booked in a balcony on the DAWN, about 30 days out we did an upsell to a family suite with balcony, then one week out we did another upsell to a DOS.

I mentioned on our roll call that a family suite with balcony was available and someone from our call called and did an upsell to the suite that we had given up.

  10. Good luck. When she said exchange, for free? Lately people have mentioned any thing that is requested not on the list they have been having to pay an upcharge for.

We correspond with the pre-concierge via email and they have always been friendly enough, have taken our requests, but nothing gets done. To clarify a bit about the delivery of soda, there usually is some soda there but we like diet so if there isn't what you want the first night, they seem to have trouble getting it right away.

For example, in Dec. we had requested Diet Sierra Mist - they had it at the bar two floors up but the butler had to get it from the "stores" so it was the next afternoon before it arrived. On the other hand, in March the butler brought in a full case of the water the first day which was fantastic in addition to what was already in the room.

She never mentioned a charge, when I asked for Captain Morgan Rum, she said she had to check a list of comparable bottles. I am so glad that water is included!!

  11. I just spoke with a lovely woman at the concierge desk, lets see if it works. The three items I wanted, Captain Morgans Rum, Baileys and Stoli Razz weren't on the list, but were on the "exchange" list. So we shall see if we get it, she also asked what mixers we wanted, what kind of pillow, etc. Wish me luck!! :)

  12. Yes, we ordered it thru the pre-concierge & it was in our suite when we boarded. So were our other requests.

And don't rely on the suite's computer...it's almost as old as I am I think:D

    Enjoy that suite...we certainly did!

I just sent an email with our request. If it works it works, if not I will let our butler know what we want.

  13. Yes, it is the upsell number. I have gotten offers for the one room but not the other.

I think that may have happened with some of the people that wanted to UPSELL on our cruise, they were able to upsell one week out. Sorry, I thought you were all in the same category.

  14. I was just told AGAIN that only our mini suite could upsell, they cannot combine the reservations(they told me to call the reservations number to try, but I might get stuck with a cancellation fee on the dropped cabin), and that rooms under mini suite level are not offered upsells until 3 days prior and she said it is NEVER into the Haven..... Sure.....

Were you told this by someone at the UPSELL phone number? I am on the DAWN (no haven), went from a balcony to a family suite with balcony then did another upsell to the DOS.

  15. Congratulations! That is awesome! So happy for you. Come back and tell us how he responded. I love stories like that.

Thanks!! This will probably be the only time we can afford it. Scott is spoiled. When I first started cruising, we cruised in small insides. His first cruise was in a suite!!
