  1. I'm looking at the schedule for next year, and the cruises stop in April. Does anybody know if more sailings may be added for 2017? Perhaps later in the year? Or if all of the sailings in 2017 are out and no changes are expected.

NCL Dawn repositions from New Orleans to Boston in April, then its back to New Orleans in November.

  2. Seems like it's been a while since anyone has posted a vacation video on these boards. I thought it would be fun to relive one of my personal favorites (mother/daughter cruise) from my collection of cruise videos. Hope you enjoy!! :)

PS. Stay tuned for a new video with our upcoming July cruise which can't come soon enough!

I cant wait to watch it, cant watch from work. One year we had booked the "Jade Suite" on the Dawn, then I found your video, I must have watched it 100 times before our cruise. Thanks for posting them all!!

  3. Anyone have an idea of when to call upsell dept? I have Casino offer for comp inside, upgraded to Mini Suite, would really like to upgrade to M9 Haven Spa Suite. Called Casino last week and they quoted me an addl' $1500pp. I am looking to knock this down by at least half. I keep watching the suites daily and with 45 days out today they still have 14 available. Just wondering if they have even started trying to upsell yet or not and when I should call?

About 30 days out seems to be the norm.

  4. This hotel is in the Garden district but has easy street car access to get to the French quarter area. If you stay 2 nights before, after or 1 before and 1 after you get free parking during your cruise. It gets good reviews and is in your price range. Might not be what you're looking for but check it out just incase. http://www.prytaniapark.com

On our two cruises out of NOLA we stayed here both times, two nights pre cruise, one night post. Its a 2 minute walk to the streetcar. If you take a taxi to the ship its a set $8 per person.

We love both the Prytania Park and the Prytania Oaks!!

  5. So it would be $350 total, or $175 per person? If so, that is a surprisingly excellent deal. I wonder if it's because most people want a balcony. We didn't miss the balcony because of the amazing views through the windows, and the fact that the pool deck is just a walk down the hallway. In addition to the regular suite perks, the owner's suites include complimentary liquor (three bottles), mixers, sodas and bottled water.

It is $350pp, we had already paid $400pp to upsell from the balcony to the family suite with balcony. So it would have been a $750pp upsell if we had taken it. There are still three owners suites available for our cruise, if they call and offer it for 0, I may give up my family suite with balcony....The complimentary liquor doesn't really matter, we have the drink package anyways and don't usually drink in the suite.

  6. We were in an Owner's Suite -- although it is larger, it is similar in that it has no balcony but has floor to ceiling windows with beautiful views. Such an amazing experience to be able to wake up in the morning to the sight of the ocean and great puffy clouds above.

And if you have any special requests or needs that you could not have anticipated, it is invaluable to have someone in your corner like Hanno who not only knows how things work and how to get them done, but follows up to ensure they are done.

You should consider yourself fortunate to have received an upsell offer. We've stayed in suites on other lines, and the NCL suite experience is excellent. We loved it.

I called to see what the upsell would be for the Owners Suite and it was $350 (in addidition to the $400 upsell we already took), if there were 4 of us I probably would have taken it.....Maybe next cruise!!

  7. You will love it!! We were in the family suite with a balcony January and family suite without a balcony in November and loved both.

The family suites are on deck 12 and very close to the pool and the sundeck...

The butlers don't hover, lol. We only saw ours if we were around when he dropped off our afternoon snacks and we had in-suite breakfast once.

We are on the DAWN May 8 for our first 10 day cruise :), we are in a family suite with balcony, just the two of us, its the same one we were in last January.

    Bon Voyage!!

  8. When I called, the suite I wanted was offered at $500 pp, I offered $750, they countered with $800 (total) and we accepted....I am so glad I took it when I did, the category (SD) sold out!!

And for the person who asked, it all depends on how many rooms are still available. I am booked on the DAWN in October and they are almost sold out of suites already (no upsell on that one)

  9. Just curious... How did you verify how good of a deal this was? Did you do a mock booking in the future to find the difference? Does the offer include taxes? Did they specifically tell you it was a certain percentage off?

I know for my cruise, the category I wanted was $2600pp, which is outrageous!! I had booked a balcony for $1200pp, upsell was $400 each, so $1600pp for the suite I wanted.

  10. Congrats on the upsell.... not sure if NCL communicated with you that your DSC increases from $13.50 to $15.50 per person per day in the Haven. Also, the Butler and Concierge are NOT part of the DSC Payout Program so they are an additional tip

Not a huge deal but something to remember

I did an upsell last week, balcony to Family suite with balcony. My only extra charge on top of the upsell was my cruise insurance, which I had purchased through NCL. My DSC were prepaid....Maybe we will be charged the difference onboard.

  11. We love Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. Would this be similar? Nothing makes me happier than a beautiful beach with soft sand and clear water while being waited on. Would this meet those expectations or is there another place that would be more to our liking? We will be there in July on the Getaway. Our ship is docked from 8-5. My husband and I love to lounge in the sun and sea and our son (19) burns easily and prefers the shade.

We have been to both. Nachi Cocum was very nice, Maya Chan is great!! I will be there for the 3rd time next month!! The 2nd time we were there the waster was cloudy, but it didn't take away from the great day we had.

  12. Yes, a shuttle service will pick you up at the hotel and take you back to the airport. You can buy either a one way or round trip ticket when you arrive. For the return, you call them and they will tell you what time they will pick you up. Sometimes, I have found that is much earlier than I want to leave as they have others to pick up too.

Since there are six of you, you might consider splitting up and taking 2 cabs. The fare for 3 or more is $15pp.

In response to the OP, a shared van service will almost always stop at more than one hotel. If it is just the two of you, it is faster (and a little cheaper) to just take a taxi direct.

    Thank you!!

  13. I have a question about the emails that I hear about people receiving. I don't recall receiving them in the past. I was wondering if it has something to do with how you book your tip. We use a travel agent as it generally gets us a better price than what is listed on NCLs website.

Are you booking your trip directly with NCL?

Also, our sailing is May 14th so I would think based on what was said above, we potentially should have or will be receiving these emails soon, providing our booking method does not dictate receiving NCL emails. We are currently booked in an AFT balcony and would be interested in the Haven if the price is right.

My cruise is may 8 and I received my offer this past Monday. I did book with NCL not sure if that matters. It all depends on what is still avail for your sailing. I am also booked on a cruise in october that doesn't have many unsold suites, I won't be counting on an up sell for that cruise

  14. Lamanai was a great excursion. The bus ride to the river dock is long, but I enjoyed the ride. I got to see the real Belize on the bus ride. We received lunch before embarking on the river. The river ride is a fun high speed ride with many veers in the river. The ruins are a walking tour through a very hot and humid jungle. Bring water. I climbed the temple and got a great view of the surrounding countryside. It is a long tour, but one of the favorites of the my many cruise excursions.

Thanks for posting!! I can't wait!!

  15. Hi everyone! I am sure this is asked 10 times over on CC but how far out is the best time to call upsell for the getaway? What are some opinions and success stories from everyone? Thanks for the help!

I called the first time six weeks before my cruise, I was told to try back the next week. I did, still nothing, then at just about 30 days I received an upsell email.
