  1. Thanks annieuk, I noticed that B2 suites on Riviera deck are available at the same price, have you experience of staying in these?

I have & personally I would avoid them at all cost!

So much so that as I cannot (currently) get an aft suite on our 2019 cruise, I am therefore considering booking a Superior Deluxe Balcony cabin instead of booking a B2 mid ship suite.

We stayed in R401 on Azura a few years ago & it was a nightmare. The balcony is long & narrow & you don't get any sunloungers.

However, the main issue was the noise from the deck above. Every morning we were woken (very early!) by the scraping noise of the staff dragging the sunloungers out. In addition, we were virtually below the smoking area & again you had the noise of people dragging chairs. You can also hear people walking about overhead.

  2. Hello All,

Just a quick update on the internet package.

I called P&O this morning to purchase 'The Browse Package' for the duration of our upcoming 12 night cruise.

I can confirm that the cost was £10 per day LESS my loyalty discount (I'm currently in the Mediterranean tier so I get 10%) so the package cost me £108.

    Hi Bigfoot

I also have 12 day cruise shortly, P and O tell me cost is £108 but def. no loyalty discount if booked prior to boarding. Mediterranean discount is eight and half percent not ten percent.

So will wait until on board and then discount will apply.

Just been looking at the help & advice section. I may be wrong but nit sure if you'll get the Internet package for £108 if purchased once on board.

It seems to read you only get the discounted rate if purchased pre cruise.

    How to purchase Satellite Internet

When you buy The Browse Package before you sail, you can save up to 15%*. You are able to purchase pre cruise on a single 24 hour period basis and as a full Cruise Plan. Multiple purchases of the single 24 hour option can be made should you require a shorter duration than your full cruise.

    • Daily Internet Browse Package - £10 per 24 hours
    • Full Cruise Plan Browse Package - From £28 for a 3 day duration up to £246 for a 30 day duration.

To purchase and to find out more, please visit our website for contact details. If you would prefer to use The Connect Package or The Works, these can be purchased on board your ship.

Once on board, there are two ways to buy a satellite internet package. Open a browser on your device, log on to the ship’s Wi-Fi and type ‘login.com’ into your browser. Follow the on screen instructions and choose a daily or full Cruise Plan for your preferred package. Alternatively, pop along to the Library; a good option if you need a little help.

If you are on a back to back cruise (two or more consecutive cruises) please note that the satellite internet service may be unavailable during turnaround days when the ships changes from one cruise to the next.

  5. Hello,

I was in B165 last year, we were lucky enough to have it in the USA and Canada, it gave us amazing views during the sail-in to NYC. This would be my preferred choice of suite for the following reasons:

    No smoking on Starboard side

A deck can be noisy and overlooked

C Deck suites are smaller (I have also had the C Deck port aft-wrap on another occasion)

    D deck is completely covered

E deck has a huge balcony (and I mean huge) but we worry about noise

We found the B deck suite was spacious, had a generous balcony, not overlooked, good balance of sun and shade, great location, no noise, only had soot on one day. Hope this helps.

Thank you Florry; that's really good to know.

  6. We did a ship visit on Arcadia on Sunday and visited the aft corner suites on D and B deck. The interiors are identical (very dated compared to Britannia but OK) but the balconies were massively different. The D deck balcony is entirely covered and feels quite dark and gloomy. Because it is very deep, the huge metal 'ceiling' also gives it quite an industrial feel. It also compromises the view out from the suite a little. We then went to B deck and the difference was marked. The balcony is still huge, but the overhang covers just half the depth of the rear facing section and all of the side section. This, we thought, was perfect. You have plenty of shade when you want it, but can also get some sun if you want it. The whole balcony is much much lighter as a result and looks far better. The suite is lighter as a result and has a better outlook. Overlooking is not an issue. People don't lean over their balcony to see what you are doing! We were very relieved as we have booked a B deck corner aft suite for the Fjords next year and feel that our choice will be perfect as the views are upwards as well as outwards.

    Hello,

Thank you; sounds like your ship visit was perfect timing for my question!

I'm so glad I know about this as initially I would have been tempted by the huge balcony on D deck, but knowing what I do now, I think I will give it a miss.

    I really appreciate your comments.

    Joan

  7. We've not stayed in it yet, but have D deck aft corner suite booked for a 2018-19 Caribbean round trip, because it IS shaded and not overlooked (we don't do well sitting out in the sun for hours and will go up top for full sun)

I believe from comments, that E deck can be noisy and have more vibration from the thrusters...

I believe A deck can be noisy from chairs on the Lido deck above, but some people say that doesn't bother them

I'll let others compare decks A, B and C cabins and balconies (I know some are on YouTube)

Thank you, that's exactly what I needed to know about D deck.

I've seen a couple of videos of A & C deck suites on YouTube but couldn't find anything for B deck.

  8. Hello,

I haven't cruised on Arcadia since her maiden season.

At that time we booked a midship suite, but have since found that we prefer aft staterooms / suites.

Can I please therefore ask those of you who have sailed on Arcadia which of the aft suites you prefer & why?

I note there are some size differences between them & that D deck appears to have the largest balconies, however I can't tell if these are shaded or not?

I love the sun so a big wide open balcony would be perfect for me.

    Thank you.

  9. How do I purchase the package before I go

I think you have to call P&O. If you log onto your cruise personaliser there should be a section there called 'Staying in Touch' it might be under 'Little Luxuries' but there should be a contact number somewhere.

I'm going to do it before my cruise next month & then I'm going to share the internet with my Parents who are also cruising.

The only thing you have to remember is to log off when finished so the other person can log onto their device.

I have visions of having to remind my Father about this ;)

  10. Morning All,

I've finally heard from CPS regarding the issue of access to my car on a turnaround day & the answer is yes I can access it.

    Good morning.

I have contacted the terminal and having access to your car is not a problem at all.

    Kind regards

I asked if I would need to let them know when dropping the car off & received the following reply: -

    Hi Joan.

No it’s fine, management are aware of this now.

It's good news for us as we can nip off the ship early & take stuff directly to the cabin.

  11. Thank you everyone for your comments & advice it's really helpful.

We'll have to see what the itineraries are when the 2019 cruises are announced & then (more importantly) see what time our bosses will allow us to take off work :D

  12. Hello All,

I am after some valuable advice from you seasoned cruises.

In 2019 both Hubby & I will be celebrating our 50th Birthdays & want to do a special cruise. We've had the email advising us that the 2019 cruises go on sale shortly so are keen to get something booked.

We cruise fairly regularly & are looking at the possibility of doing a Caribbean cruise.

However, we don't fly, so it would have to be a round trip from Southampton.

Apart from knowing we'll need to take 3 weeks off work, we know absolutely nothing about the Caribbean in terms of what time of year is best to go (obviously sailing from Southampton we're limited to when the ships sail!) & what ports are considered a 'must'.

Basically, I'm after any advise from those of you who have been to the Caribbean to help us make an informed decision.

If we decide the Caribbean isn't for us then we'll look at doing the other med ports we haven't done so far.

    Thank you.

  13. Purchase everything at a port prior to the home leg sea days, and leave in the stateroom. Simples.

Only trouble with that is that the first cruise is only a 2 nighters to Guernsey & we all know how doubtful it is we will tender there!

I was going to try popping to a supermarket in Southampton however, have now booked tickets to the boat show in the turnaround day so not sure I'll have time.

  14. I very much doubt it because if you have pre booked both cruise and parking at the same time for b2b then they will leave your car on the turnaround day where they park your car for the duration of cruises and not return it to the car park for your disembarkation as if you were only doing one cruise. The only way you will have a definitive answer is a quick phone call to CPS and ask.

I am waiting for a response from CPS, but thought when we last did a B2B they asked if we wanted access to the car.

We didn't then & it was some years ago, so I just thought I'd ask on here if anyone had done so whilst I'm waiting.

    Joan

  15. Hello,

When doing a back to back cruise sailing from Southampton & using CPS car parking, do you have the option to access your car on the turnaround day?

I'm not necessarily looking to drive it, but thinking more along the lines of stocking up bottled water, lemonade etc for the cabin & doing this on the turnaround day when hands will be free of hand luggage etc.

Any advice / info gratefully received as always.

    Thank you

    Joan

  16. The Entertainments Manager is Natalie Milverton. Captain Marcin Banach is due to come off on the 17th September, don't know what happens after that.

    Thank you.

    We're doing a B2B 15th - 17th & 17th -29th Sept, so looks like we'll have a change of Captain after the 2 night cruise then.

  17. i understand that these are being phased out or indeed may have stopped altogether now.

Can anyone please tell me what benefits you now get when booking on board as I'm struggling to find anything in the "help & advice" section on the website.

I'm looking to book a B2B for 2018 & my TA has suggested I should do this when I'm on Ventura next month as I'll get "low deposits & added OBC".

    Many thanks.

    Joan

  18. We did a back to back on Azura and definitely received everything on the second cruise that we'd been given on the first. It is lovely doing a B2B, especially on the day before the end of the first cruise when you see all the luggage in the corridors and know that you won't be leaving! You don't say whether you are doing a cruise from Southampton or a fly cruise. Ours was flying out and sailing back to Southampton at the end of the second cruise. On the first evening of the second cruise when it was all open seating due to planes arriving in the Caribbean at different times, we booked at one of the Select dining venues which worked well.

Thank you, that's good to know.

    We're doing a B2B from Southampton; 2 nights followed by 12 nights.

We're hoping to retain the same table in the MDR as we're on club dining & have made a request to have a table by a window.

I guess if we don't get one on the first cruise we can speak to the Restaurant Manager & hopefully secure one for the longer cruise.
