  1. Yes, we always book early so we get the cabin and spot we want on a ship. I'm sure we are paying more than most but we never look back. We've enjoyed OS on a few recent cruises and, for us, it was worth the extra dollars.

We're sailing on a cruise this coming Friday with GK and it will be a different cruise than sailing by ourselves but it will be a fantastic time. This time is a 2 bedroom suite. We're in countdown mode.

  2. Simply ask the question at Guest Relations for the procedure - - -

    As others have noted:

A zero head count must be ascertained -

So everyone except the crew of course must log off the ship.

When you take your existing old cabin key card and swipe it you have left the building elvis -

When NCL permits re-board the ship with your new cabin key card.

You may get your new card at Guest Relations (Registration Desk) or off the ship where you

checked in like the first leg of the B2B - probably in a special area designed just for that.

Your luggage will be transferred by your old cabin steward to the new cabin. ***

*** remember to keep your medicines and valuables and the alike with you or locked in your

transferred luggage - As noted DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LUGGAGE OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR

the night before disembarking and remind your CS that you are moving within the ship to new quarters ***

*** NCL may provide luggage tags for this - ASK ?

Any further questions - ask the NCL staff - it can't be complicated it is NCL after all !

Since this is happening inside the good ole USA there is NO Customs or other government clearance

hurdles flaming loops snake pits volcano Heiau's to pass muster - OH the muster term may still apply

to you before sailing off into the Hawaiian sunset but you may be exempted - ask ?

Now that you are out of breath and wonder what is next - take two drinkies with dem brelly things -

relax and enjoy the 2nd leg of your cruise !!!!!

Thank you all for the info. I like having some idea what to do but I'll probably work with ship staff to iron out all the details.

  3. Hi

If my wife and I change cabins on a B2B cruise in Hawaii, how does that work in terms of luggage and getting off the ship? Do we have to take luggage or will the crew just move it from one cabin to another? I'm assuming we have to get off the ship, at least for an hour or two. Is this correct?

    Thanks for any insight.

  4. We had Roel last August and thought he was great! We are also on the 6/30 sailing. Glad to find out he will be on board, although we aren't in a suite this time :(

Yes, he was on our Labor Day cruise last year and it's good to know he'll be on our 6/30 sailing. We have our granddaughters with us in a two bedrooom suite. In fact it is an extended family vacation. Can't wait.

  5. Pretty much covered above. Lazy J's is now called Cagney's - Deck 6 aft. Since you are forward take the forward stairs/elevators down to 6 and head aft. Unlike the other NCL suites they don't let you order Cagney's for breakfast or lunch to your room but there is still a room service menu.

The POA just went through a major drydock in March and looks really good. They swapped to the interactive tvs so you can see your onboard account, make dinner reservations if you didn't do already (or you can ask the concierge to do), and free for suites PPV movies.

Just curious, why can't you order room service, from Cagney's, on POA? We'll be cruising POA in 2018 (in a suite) and usually do breakfast in the cabin a few times a trip. My DW loves the eggs Benedict.

  6. We were on the Dawn last week in a suite. I tend to give the butler more since he/she does more for us. On this cruise we had the best butler ever (Dominic). we did $10 per day, per person, for the concierge and $18 per day, pp, for butler. He did a number of meals, brought us crazy amounts of snacks, chased down bottles of wine and other requests to earn his tip. He really pampered us.

In the end it is how much you feel each is worth when your cruise ends. How much did they add to your enjoyment.

    Happy sailing!

  7. Yes size matters. I'm not a fan of bigger ships. My DW and I like the ships Gem and Dawn. We are big fans of large balconies and both ships offer choices both bow and aft. We use them a lot to escape the large crowds at the pool. We don't sail with young kids so we don't need the extras the bigger ships provide.

That's a shame for the lobster lovers. It's a plus for me because I'm allergic to lobster. Le Bistro has always been a favorite.

It was for us too but they changed the venue to the former LaCucina space and it's less intimate then before. This is just one couples opinion.

  9. I think it is fair too.

The new concession did raise the price but they bought new large lounge chairs. They now carry the chairs and umbrella to where you want them placed on the beach. We don't have to carry them out ourselves anymore. They set the umbrella in the sand. And we don't have to return them like we did in the past. They pick them up. A deposit is no longer required.

We rented an umbrella. We didn't need the loungers, although they looked new and were very nice. They brought the umbrella to our spot, which was pretty far down the beach and yes he said "just leave it we'll get it". I thought it was well worth it.

  10. No lobster in a long time. It was on the La Bistro menu.

Just off the Dawn yesterday and lobster is gone from LeBistro. The recipe is now done with shrimp and costs the same. LeBistro used to be our favorite resturant but no longer.

  11. Most were 7 and 9 but I think the Elements show is 6:30 and 9. Patti and Jose play in the Atrium and feature oldies and some classic rock. I'm not sure if they're on the Dawn in November. My dw and I enjoy their shows.

  12.

If your butlers name is Dominic, then you have one of the best!!

My dw and I just got off the Dawn yesterday and we had Dominic. You are correct. He's the best we've ever had when cruising in a suite. He sat down with us the first day and went over all our likes and dislikes. He would speak with us each day to see what we needed. Some days not much, other times we wanted extra snacks. He always brought what we requested. I hate waste. His best quality is he listens. He is definitely amazing.

  13. This past March my DW and I were in 9006 on the Gem. We went up to the Haven maybe six times during the trip. We loved our cabin. It offered a couple of balconies and plenty of room. I don't think we would have had that space in a Haven cabin. The Haven area was nice but not a space we needed daily. We would do an Owner's Suite again over the Haven

    Enjoy your trip.
