  1. Thanks MrPete! Your review got me excited, even if it's from 5 years ago. We haven't been to Bermuda yet and I'm looking forward to docking there overnight.

Anyone else have any newer Explorer 5-night Bermuda reviews? I imagine that things have changed a bit recently. Do they still do formal night the evening of the first sea day? DW bought a tux for me a few Christmases ago and I need an excure to wear it!:D

I have a review of the EOS .... link is in my signature.

Gulf Stream V Notice the tail symbol - Philadelphia Flyers Plane

I have never seen this plane or a picture of it. Unbelievable shot.

Posting it to Facebook and I am also stealing it.

How appropriate, the Flyers open the NHL season today against the Pittsburgh Weasels.

    Thanx, made my day.

  3. Tom, we are interested in hiring a driver. There are a total of ten of us (five adults and five children) --- can he accommodate us all?

I am sure they can ..... Depending on whether they are booked or not.

Just email them with your details and ask.

  4. Opps.......

    DAY TWO:

I am a early riser and decided to walk around the ship and take a few pictures

    Same here.

Nothing like a cruise ship, especially the Allure or Oasis at 5:00 AM.

The ship, it is my ship, all mine, nary a soul in sight, except my crew!

  5. Oh my gosh! What a day! Thankfully you got your camera back but Drivers licenses are a pain in the butt to replace!!

Well, this affirms my opinion that a passport locked in the safe is the way to go.

Also, if I was sailing with DL and birth certificate, I can't imagine what would have happened. Would I have gotten back on the ship?

If I did get back, when we finished the cruise, I would have had no ID to fly home.

    But, everything worked out.

  6. I know! Well, I took lots of pictures on the Mariner and then we lost the camera along with the SD card on the ride up. The ONLY pictures I have from that cruise are the 2 that we bought from formal night! :) Still makes me sad. So now I bring my iPad, SD card reader for the iPad, and 3 SD cards that I switch out everyday after uploading to the iPad!

In Cozumel, I got back to the port, and found out I lost my drivers license and sea pass. Oh what fun that was.

Anyway, I did manage to get back on the ship, then proceded to lose my camera. I had taken the America's Cup Yacht Race in the morning, then we did the East side, I literally took about 500 pictures, and it was the best port day we ever had.

But, someone turned the camera in, and to say I was relieved is quite an understatement.

  7. Psh, I'm sure you take great pictures!! I wasn't really planning on writing a review before we went but then I remembered how much fun I was having reading them so I just started to take notes here and there..and I took like 1200 pictures! No kidding!

Doesn't everybody take thousands of pictures???;)

Your next project should be doing a photobook through Shutterfly, Blurb, or one of the online photo sites. They really come out great.

  8. We are going to Cozumel soon and planning to hire a driver for the day. what would people suggest that we do?

We are thinking, Tequila Factory, the ruins, and a beach/snorkel stop. Would anyone recommend these and/or different ideas?

Plan to do the East side.

Stop at a couple of the bars, we did Coconuts and Playa Bonita where we ate lunch, which was excellent.

I have a lot of pictures on our trip in my Oasis review, link in my signature.

  9. For the person who asked about Marco, we just got back and had Marco for the day. Marco was waiting exactly where and when he was supposed to, had a sign with our name on it. He was very nice and courteous, but my only comment would be to have an idea of what you would like to do and don't expect him to be a "tour guide" I was hoping the driver would have great suggestions, but once we said we really did not want to do tequila factory, he did not have many suggestions for sites we should go to. Asked about the ruins, he pointed out the entrance, but kept driving. In his defense though, we did say the only thing we knew we wanted to see was the east side of the island, we were just hoping he would have more suggestions and give us some history as we were driving around. I don't want you to think he was a bad driver or anything, he was just more or a driver than tour guide, and I think we were expecting more of a tour guide than driver. Van was clean, AC worked well. The bars and overlooks he took us to on the east side were beautiful. Had some food and drinks at Coconuts, none of us had any illness problems after. We were done in three hours, he dropped us off in downtown square for shopping and we took a taxi back to ship.

That is a good heads up. We had Alberto. After we got into his car, he brought out a map and suggested a lot of stuff.

However, I did a lot of research on Cozumel, and knew exactly what we wanted to do, told him, away we went, and did everything that I had planned.

  10. Here;s another one (not explorer specific but this thread seems to draw traffic.)

If you book an excursion through RC, will you be asked to meet your group at a location onboard or will you be expected to meet somewhere in port/ on the dock? (Specifically interested in the answer to this for the Biolumnescent Bay tour in SJ,PR.)

Just get off the ship. There will be a number of uniformed RCI personnel directing the masses. Just ask one where your excursion is meeting, and they will show you where to go.
