  1. The only thing I didn't see written up was about the "surfing" or "rock climbing". Did you partake? Long lines? The grandaughters snowboard, so I hope they will have the opportunity to do the surfing.

Thanks for all the info - you are wonderful to provide so much detail.

You might consider booking a flowrider lesson. That way, you get an hour of time (with a couple of others), so no line, you get to participate and use the flowrider for that hour.

  2. We booked 5 hours for December but now I'm thinking we may need more time. We want to do: San Gervaiso, the Chocolate Factory, Punta Sur and the lighthouse, the east side, lunch and possibly some Rx and vanilla shopping. Can we do all this in 5 hours or are we pushing it?

Don't know, but, if it takes longer, you just pay for the extra hour.

As long as the extra time you take on the tour does not keep you from getting back to the ship on time.

  3. We enjoyed Playa Bonita too. The have the biggest margaritas! I ordered a shrimp cocktail that had about 50 little shrimps in it...no kidding. We ran out of time to go up in the lighthouse so we're going back and doing it again. :)

We did America Cup Yacht Race in the morning, then did the private driver in the afternoon, about 4 hours.

If ever I go back to Cozumel, I will book for a minimum of 6 hours, maybe 7 hours.

What a great way to do Cozumel.

Absolutely fantastic, wish we would have had more time.

  4. If you are flying then it will be stamped when you go through passport control after you land. On the cruise itself it varies. Some cruse lines hold the passports and sometimes they are stamped while other times they are not.

    Keith

This is not an uncommon request.

Ask on the ship, or go to the Port of Call threads, do a search on "stamp".

    If no results, ask.

I can tell you on St. Martin, you have to go to some dump of a place about a half mile from the cruise terminal, wake up whomever is there:eek:, and they will stamp your passport.

  5. Thanks for the reply...Looks like you did exactly what we want to...

BTW, we just got back Saturday.

I am currently doing a review of the cruise, have not gotten to the Cozumel excursion we took, but, I will be posting a number of pix of what we did.

Alberto was our driver, good guy. Perfect trip.

Review link is in my signature.

  6. Thank you for the info..Would you mind saying how long of a tour you took ? We have been all over Cozumel, but want to go to the east side, and that is really all we want to do . other than maybe shop a little at El Centro. Thanks

You book a three hour tour. Total cost is $95. You pay a $50 deposit when you book it.

At the end of the tour, you pay what you owe. We booked the 3 hours, wound up taking a total of 4 hours, paid it and tipped our driver Alberto.

Very simple to do. When we got off the ship, he was waiting, got into his cab, left the port area, parked, and he went over a map with us and made recommendations, such as Mayan ruins, tequilla factory, etc.

All we wanted to do was hit the east side, hit a couple of bars, have lunch, and then a beach for about an hour, which is what we did.

Fantastic time, just do your research, know what you want to do, and it is smooth as that.

  7. The machines you are talking about belong to this company.

Notice halfway down this page is a section labeled "cruise ship" with some photos.

I have yet to identify which cruise ship - but I would think if you called them they might be able to tell you.

BTW - RCI or the owner of wherever these machines are placed has no influence over lines or has any stake in the win / loss. The "house" is only paid a percentage of handle - basically rent.

    Interesting.

  8. Oasis had sports betting when she first sailed but RCCL removed it shortly after she came out.

Odds were probably similar to the slots and other games, i.e. heavily favoring the casino.

In the real world, you bet a game, risk $110 to win $100. Wonder what RCI wanted you to risk to win $100?

  9. Thanks. Since you mentioned there were a lot of others out at that time, how much of a nuisance is it to get around the walkers?

First, the most exercise I get is bending my elbow tossing beers down.

    I am an early riser, 5:00 / 5:30.

There are not a lot of people out on the jogging track before 8:00. Those that are .... most are jogging. Those of us that might be strolling around are very aware of the joggers / runners, and we give you wide bearth, as we believe you are all crazy.

  10. We need a D1 cabin with sofa bed to hold 3 next to a D2 cabin to hold 2. We are currently booked with this configuration on deck 7 all the way forward. I just saw that 8652 & 8654 are open for our sailing. In your opinion, are these 2 cabins in a better location? I am nervous about being so far forward because some members of our party tend to have motion sickness, but at the time I booked the 2 cabins we have were all that the RCI rep offered.

Interested in hearing the thoughts of those experienced Explorer cruisers...

8652/4 are towards aft. I would think they would be pretty good location. Forward, you are going to get more motion. Also, this location would be convenient for the pool and WJ.

Also, do you really need to have cabins next to each other. My experience, having sailed with groups of about 20, I never went to another's cabin, and no one ever came to mine. Matter of fact, I had no reason to go to another's cabin, and no one had any reason to come to ours. If children are involved, that is another thing, but with adults, absolutely no reason IMHO to have cabins near one another.

  11. Thanks. Yes we have always brought our own water and on Princess just taped a luggage tag with shipping tape and no problem. On our RC cruise in 2006 the same. But then I had that RC booking agent say that you can't floored me. I guess first no wine now no water! We will pack a few in a duffle bag as well. Thanks!

The RCI policy (and in the contract) has always been "no beverages, either alcohol or non-alcohol are permitted to be brought on board".

The other policy is that RCI does not consistently enforce any policies.

BTW, there is an incredible amount of free exceptionally good water available on the ship.
