Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. The quickest and questionably '..easiest way..' between Paris and Le Havre will be an SNCF train-- https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/ -- from PARIS--Gare Saint Lazre station to LE HAVRE. The train travel time between PARIS--Gare Saint Lazare and Le Havre will be appprox. 2:15--2:30 hours. Transfer between the train station in La Havre to the Le Havre cruise port terminal may be done via public bus (not really a prospect while toting luggage) or via regular metered taxi from the taxi rank from train station to cruise port in approx. 5-6 mins...fare approx. 7-8 € As noted above, you will probably need to take a taxi from your hotel in Paris to Gare Saint Lazare and carry your luggage from the curb, through the train station to the platform for your trian...then reverse this between train and taxi rank once at Le Havre. There are also Metro and public bus connections to Gare Saint Lazere but toting luggage on the Metro or bus through Paris probably is a non-starter..
  2. You can certainbly take other 5 or 7 day cruises to other destinations from northeastern US cities (Boston, NYC, Baltimore) BUT....you'll probably have to fly to Florida first to board your ship and fly home. Bermuda is really the only tropical or semi-tropical destination within convenient cruising distance for this length of time. . Unlike many other cruise ports, tiny Bermuda has a lgreat deal to offer beyond they immediate environs of the gangway of your cruise ship--incredible natural beauty, many charms both great and small, genuinely friendly, welcoming, hospitable atmosphere, relatively safe environment, at almost any time of day or night, almost anywhere a visitor might venture. The island has an excellent, economical and easy to figure out and use public transportation system that will take visitors to, or close to wherever they might want to go during their brief port call. Bermuda is a remarkably '..comfortable..' destination to explore, experience and enjoy. She has a broad selection of sights and attractions and absolutely magnificent beaches. Because of these factors (and others) it's no accident that so many cruise lines offer Bermuda cruises and so many cruisers choose Bermuda cruises as a multi-repeat visitors..
  3. >>>...I'm looking for a list of private tour operators if one exists...<<< To the best of my knowledge, NO such list of Taxi Tour Guides exists. Even years ago when such a list did exist it was NOT available to the general public. Bermuda's nuslear launch codes were more widely available (contrary to common belief, neither Gibbs Hill nor Saint David's lighthouses are JUST '..Aids-to-Navigation..'). Almost any taxi driver will offer private taxi tours of Bermuda.. Most are just fine, pleasant, knowledgeable, relliable. Most private taxi tours will run 3-4 hours but longer if requested). The current--2023 fixed rates for these tours is $50 per hour for 1-4 passengers/$70 per hour for 5-to-7 passengers (BUT...expect a rate increase of 20%-25% for sometime during 2024) Most taxi tour guides will have their own pre-determined tour itinerary BUT...they can customise their tour itineraries to accommodate your own personal preferences/interests (i.e. art & arcitecture, parks & garden, general & military history, flora & fauna, beaches etc.) if requested. Private tour companies offering Bermuda tours are NOT licensed, metered '..taxis..', so NOT bound by the government taxi fare rate schedule ($50 & $70) and will be more expensive. Among regular licensed, metered taxi tour guides-- LEWIS FOGO-- RELIABLE TAXI SERVICE Email: lewis_foggo@hotmail.com Tel: (441) 704-2109 SAMUEL O. MATTHEWS PIECE of the ROCK TAXI SERVICE https://www.sambdalimo.com/ .
  4. You may stay at Horseshoe Bay Beach as long as you like/all night BUT...the last Horseshoe Bay Bech Shuttle departs at approx. 6:00 PM...the last #7--Hamilton-Via South Shore Beaches-Dockyard public bus will pass Horseshoe Bay at approx. 9:45 PM. The taxi fare between Horseshoe Bay and Dockyard will be approx. $35 (you'll probably have to telephone for a taxi pick-up after 6 PM or so.) The BLUE--Dockyard-Hamilton public ferry route operates on a SCHEDULE. It si NOT an '..on-demand..' service. During the Summe season (may-thru-Oct.), the last run-of-the-day from Hamilton back to Dockyard goes at 8:30 PM (except Wednesday Harbour Nights at 10:30 PM). During the WINTER season (Nov. thru Apr.) last-run-of the day is at 6:00 PM (ONLY when cruise ships are at Dockyard) FERRY SCHEDULE-- http://www.marineandports.bm/ The last run-of-the-day for public buses to Dockyard will be the #8--Hamilton-Via Middle Road-Dockyard at 10:45 PM BUS SCHEDULE-- https://www.gotobermuda.com/sites/default/files/2022-10/Bus_Schedule_EFFECTIVE_31January2022[1].pdf Taxi fare between Hamilton and Dockyard will be approx. $50-
  5. The 88-odd steps at Crysstal Caves are '..manageble..' for most-- See photos-- .. https://*****.com/3hk5hwbs There's NO regular taxi rank at the CRYSTAL CAVES attraction but taxis come 'n go during the day dropping off visitors. As noted, you can always take any #1(most scenic), #3, #10 or #11 public bus from the Caves to downtown Hamilton (approx. 35-40 mins.)....then transfer to a #7 (MOST SCENIC) or #8--Hamilton-Dockyard (NOT '..Barnes Corners..') for scenic ride back to Dockyard (approx. 60 mins.....OR...strol down though Hamilton (approx. 3 blocks) to the main Ferry terminal for a scenic boat ride back to Dockyard (approx. 20 mins. Taxi fare between downtown Hamilton and Crystal Cave wil be approx. $35...20 mins.) Taxi fare between the Dockyard cruise port and Crystal Caves will be approx. $63...55 mins.) Taxi fare between the Dockyard cruise port and downtown Hamilton will be approx. $50
  6. It's always a good idea to have a '..plan B..'. For indoor activities there's CRYSTAL & FANTASY CAVES-- https://caves.bm/ BERMUDA AQUARIUM & ZOO-- https://bamz.org/ BERMUDA UNDERWATER EXPLORATION INSTITUTE-- https://buei.bm/ BERMUDA NATIONAL MUSEUM (at: Dockyard)-- https://nmb.bm/ OR....take the BLUE--Dockyard-Hamilton public ferry route to downtown Hamilton (approx. 20 mins. across the Great Sound, into and through Hamilton Harbour) and poke 'round the stores, shops and attractions of downtown Hamilton (carry light rain gear or an umbrella for ducking between shop doors)...enjoy a leisurely lunch in town...stop up and tour through the National Cathedral...through the Art gallery in City Hall...take a #7--Hamilton-Via South Shore Beaches-Dockyard public bus route back to Dockyard (with spectacular views of many of the magnificent south shore beaches, western ocean and Great Sound water views along the route--approx. 60 mins)
