Yes - one should be careful on the stairs!
We also love the Observation Lounge and especially prefer it over the Main Bar for cocktails in the evening. It's quiet - no live music. The service is excellent. In rough weather, it's quite a ride!

Congrats on the 20 years!

Is this yet another reason to buy trip insurance from an independent insurance company?
-
That would be wonderful.

Laundry for man's shirt $6.50 Dry cleaning for same $8.00 Pressing is $4.50
These are the prices from November, 2013.

So, why not do it again with this fun group?
It is tempting especially if someone will guarantee good weather (or at least better than we had in 2013).

I believe they prefer if you order items from the lunch or dinner menu during the hours that the restaurant is open. However, with advance notice, you can get anything you want.

Glad to hear that Philippe is on board. Thanks for a great blog.

Believe it or not. We really need some warm. I didn't want to fly very far so Ft.L. Fits. I hear things have improved!
Great news!

I've known Judie for about ten years, and have worked with her many times as a lecturer and destination consultant aboard Silversea ships all around the world.
My wife and I were with her last fall on her last contract. She was tired and she was looking forward to what she promised would be her final, real, actual, and unchangeable retirement. . . but none of us really believed there would ever come a day when she was not the queen of the seas.
We exchanged messages as she was about to begin treatment back home in England.
Judie is the most gracious and talented cruise director and performer I have ever known.
If you truly seek the measure of Judie Abbott, know this: amongst the crew of Silversea she was known by another name: "Mother."
We join with all of her friends in wishing her well.

Nicely said Corey. We had the pleasure of cruising with you and Judie on the Norway cruise last summer.
We certainly hope that Judie knows just how many people's lives she has touched in a most positive way over the years.

OMG - Overnight in Cannes - how fabulous. Rent a car and drive inland to Cabris or the Gorges de Verdun. Go to Grasse, Vence, St. Paul, Biot etc.. Don't waste the opportunity to see some extraordinary scenery and lovely quaint villages.

There are also certain no frills travel agencies that offer attractive incentives such as additional on board credits.

WE usually travel in a veranda suite but opted for a vista on the Cloud in Norway because we felt it would enable us to block out more of the midnight sun due to the window's smaller size. The lower price was also a plus.
While it did make it harder to take early morning photos, we felt it was a good decision.

Bob is going to e-mail you with his thoughts. In any event, it should be a fabulous trip.
Make sure you watch "To Catch a Thief" before you go.

Think of it as a wonderful adventure. Not everyone gets to do it!

If I were doing it, I would either rent a car for several days or hop in a cab. I wouldn't make it complicated by trying to find a limo. We travel with way too much luggage and have rarely had a problem fitting it into a cab.

We were in 418 and heard no noise from the laundromat.

Thanks for the pictures - I wish we could have done it, but we were there before you could buy tickets in advance and the timing of our arrival made it impossible to do. Maybe next time...........

My husband did climb huayna pichu on our 2nd day. Not something I felt that compelled to do, so I stayed below while he went up with a group of Israeli soldiers. We were both happy.
Did he feel the trek was worth the effort?

We did the tour mid-cruise with Silversea. We spent two nights in Cuzco and took the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu from a station somewhere about 90 minutes away from Cuzco since the rail line was washed out.
There can be a lot of walking if you choose to do it, so by all means take a cane or hiking poles. The day we arrived in Machu Picchu, we toured around Cuzco and took the train the following day.
We took medicine to prevent altitude sickness and apart from being a bit tired, we had no problems even though we did drink several pisco sours! I don't mean to scare you, but several passengers on our excursion were not well when they left the ship, and one landed in the hospital in Cuzco and another couple turned right around at the airport and went back to Lima. All three left the cruise and went home. I would check with a doctor before going if you think you have any health issues that might worsen on the trip.
Having said all that, it was a bucket list trip and I'm very glad we did it.

I thought Jimmy retired to work onshore.

We stayed in a cute guest cottage/hotel in Bathsheba on the Atlantic side of the island. If you're in for relaxation and a beautiful coast line, you might want to consider that area. Be forewarned, it is remote and unless you have a rental car, you will be forced to chill out and enjoy your surroundings.

We'll be there - boarding in Civitavecchia.

Thank you Observor and CTTWin for those lovely memories.
CTTWin - Hope to cross paths with you again some day.
Merry Christmas to all.

Day room in a nursing home - hmmm! The Panorama Lounge chairs are very comfortable, but the room is too small to accommodate the number of passengers especially if many play trivia. We still prefer the Observation Lounge during the day and bar in the evening.
In some ways, we prefer the dining room assuming that you aren't seated at one of the larger (but way too small) oval tables. We like the fact that there are short walls near the windows that block some of the noise.
Keep enjoying your time on board. It certainly beats being home given the challenging weather.
