I drank very little iced tea/lemonade (which I like to mix together :) )...and of course some juice in the morning (not sure if that is mixed with the ship's water)..and I did start out drinking the 'water' in the dining room with dinner - but noticed a slight swelling - so switched to my own bottled water which I think did make a difference for me!
I also carried on an 8 pack of diet pepsi cans - and left 2 behind....
Okay, I think I might try using bottle water as much as possible also. I'm a big ice cube person with my drinks so its going to hard!!

Just back from a 10 day cruise where I ordered 2 cases of bottled water (24 bottles) and I am happy to report that the swelling was minimal and very manageable due to drinking more of the bottled water and less of the 'ship's water'.
While the ship's water is desalinated I believe it is still 'saltier' than bottled. Of course it is hard to avoid all ship's water due to cooking and other liquids however this did seem to work for me (had about 3 bottles left at end of cruise).
Plan to do this again on next cruise (maybe only 1 case cuz it's 7 days)...and hoping to have similar results :)
You didn't drink ice tea or lemonade? Do you think its risky to drink that?

Do not drink water from the tap, just from the buffet. A HUGE difference!
The water at the buffett has less salt? So the lemon aide and tea are okay also?
What about the MDR?

Recycled salt water? About half the water produced onboard is pure distilled water, the remainder is desalinated by reverse osmosis. There is some salt still in this water, but generally not more than say NYC water which gets road salt in it.
Anyway, my feeling is that this is caused by salty food, and the chlorine in the drinking water.
Possible remedies:
Either drink water from dining venues, bars, or drink dispensers, as these have the chlorine removed, or de-chlorinate your own water by keeping a pitcher of it open in the fridge or on the desk for a couple hours. Chlorine can contribute to water retention.
Put your lifejackets under the mattress at the foot of the bed, to elevate your feet at night.
Stand in the pool. The additional water pressure on your ankles, over that on the rest of your body (at lesser depth) will "redistribute" any retained water to other locations around your body.
Drink more water. Contrary as this sounds, water retention can be caused by low water intake.
Thanks, lots of great ideas

Do you think its the salt in the air? Some people think its the drinking water because its recycled salt water?? Any remedies that helped keep your swelling down?

We were on your same cruise, I loved Essencia (the Classical trio) and the Run For Cover band. We tried to stop by and listen to them as many times as possible. I also enjoyed when the three piece horn group performed with the Run For Cover band.
What kind of music did Run for cover play?

First, so sorry to hear about your associate.
Next really enjoying your report, we did this itinerary in March and its nice to relive it. Plus got to enjoy Grand Turk this way, we didnt get to stop due to winds and choppy water.
imessage worked well. Hubby and kids used it on the Social plan (I had just switched to Samsung so I had to either use the HUB app or WhatsApp to talk with them) kids talked to their friends via imessage both on and off ship LOL.
Did the kids use their regular iMessaging app?

I just got off of the Breeze yesterday. I was incredibly impressed by the amount of live music available. Every late afternoon and evening, there was music available in the main atrium, Red Frog Pub, Ocean Plaza and Piano Bar -- in addition to all of the other entertainment offerings going on. There was also live music by the pool during a good portion of the daytime hours.
Thats great news, thanks. We'll be on the Breeze in Jan 16.

Are the eggs Benedict better in the MDR then lido? I thought the lido ones were good.

[quote name='BenjiRodney']La Romana is a port you need an excursion or stay on the ship.

Did you feel unsafe in La Romana? We are doing the Carnival Anani beach tour -
Never had Indian food. What do you recommend?

Now I want Pad Thai for lunch, with no way to get some and it's all your fault :(;):p
I hear ya! I have 86 more days of dieting till I can pig out on the Breeze!
-
No Pad Thai, they don't have the right noodles, peanuts, bean sprouts or sauce. They don't have anything that even comes close to the flavor of Pad Thai.
Thats a bummer. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if the Wok can make chicken pad thai? And Is Guys the only place to get french fries for lunch on the lido deck? (Not a fan of thick cut but love the burgers)

I remember reading the floors are really slippery somewhere on the Breeze. Anyone know what area it is?

The hotel said taxi's are cheaper? We have 10 ppl total and lots of luggage but yellow cab has mini vans we could split up into for $25 per car/van
-
Any shuttle van recommendations from MIA to Holiday Inn Port of Miami?
-
Any idea who is on Breeze in January? We said the 16th.
-
I hope they have it January.
-
Where did you hear this from? Is there another thread or newspaper article? We are headed there in Jan.
-
Thank you

Do you know how to get ahold of the special needs dept and Maitre D for the Breeze?
-
What is procedure for letting the MDR know that someone is allergic to tomatoes and lemons? Can we tell them ahead of time? Will they make special dishes for this person? Thanks.

My silver set I bought two years ago is in perfect condition but I don't wear it all the time. My friend wears a silver bracelet she had made more then 5 years ago in the shower and everything and its still perfect. Weird. Maybe the silver lasts better then gold?

My gold and silver has held up really well also. My friend wears her silver bracelet every single day, even in the shower, pool and lake.
