  1. Hi there,

We are going on our "first real cruise" next week on the Carnival Breeze (I worked on a cruise 10 years ago for about 6 months, DH and I have been on one free Bud Light 3 nighter, which really doesn't count!) and were thinking whether the upcharge restaurants were worth it or not?

We will be doing a 6 night cruise with 3 ports. We are doing excursions in all 3 ports.

Since he doesn't eat sushi it would be a question of the Steakhouse and or the Italian. Are they worth the extra money and do they add to the experience of the cruise?

Thanks so much for any and all input!

Do you by chance have a picture of cabin 8336 on the Breeze? I noticed you wrote a review on it. We are in that cabin in January, cant wait!

  2. We stayed here last year and will be staying again next weekend (I can post an update in early March if you'd like).

The number one reason to stay here is location. Multiple restaurants are close by, along with the CVS for any pre-cruise needs.

The negative during our stay last year was only two elevators were working and the stairs were not conveniently located. It wasn't that big of a deal for us.

My Dad and I ate breakfast at the restaurant pretty early last year -- maybe 7:30 or so. Service was good. We ate off the menu rather than getting the buffet. I thought prices were very reasonable (less than $10/entree) for a hotel breakfast. I plan on eating breakfast there again this year. I'm pretty sure they also offered room service.

No Holiday Inns offer free breakfast. HI Express, on the other hand, do. That's the way of things -- the more you pay for a hotel, the less you get in return!

This will not be the best hotel you've ever stayed at, but it is perfect for what you need it for -- place to stay close to the port with food/entertainment options. My husband and I did walk around Bayside after dark and felt fine doing so.

$10 isn't a bad price for breakfast at the hotel. I think the location is worth it. Thanks

  3. We enjoyed our stay here. Our room looked like it had been recently updated and didn't look run down at all.

To solve the breakfast problem...There's a starbucks at Bayside across the street. We bought muffins the night before and saved them for the next morning to have with our in room coffee. Best breakfast ever? No but it was enough to tide us over until a great lido lunch!!

I would recommend this hotel again for a pre-cruise stay. Maybe not for a longer vacation but a short stay it's perfectly acceptable!

Great idea, we'll be at bayside for dinner the night before. Thanks

  4. I have strawberry ice cream with chocolate melting cake instead of vanilla. Strawberries and chocolate belong together! I was in the mood for a BLT and did not feel like going back to the cabin to order room service. The breakfast buffet was just closing and we were on the Liberty which had Guy's Burgers. So I saved 2 pieces of toast from breakfast buffet and as soon as they set up the toppings bar at Guys, I made my own BLT with the mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and bacon from there. :p;):D I also like my soft serve ice cream a bit different. I get a bowl, put in the ice cream, then I crumble the cone in it. If there is chocolate sauce at the sweet spot at lunch, I put that on top too!

I usually get butter pecan ice cream, but strawberry is a great idea. I mixed the cherry jubilee in with the warm melting choc cake one time too.
