  1. Been there and done that. Not the solution. This appears to be a continuing problem, with a new glitch every time you try something new. I expect HAL will get this usable in time. Can't waste more time on this.
  2. Can anyone remember if the shoreside people are being very strict about check-in times. Ours assigned time is very late and we do not relish the idea of sitting in the cruises terminal for 2 hours right after a 14 hour flight. Any other info about how Auckland works the boarding would be appreciated, too.
  3. Not Guest Services, but tell them you want to see the IT person onboard. On the WC this person was helping pax fix their app problems, among other things.
  4. Never done the photos and would never bother. Last year at Canada Place there were problems with HAL taking the photos and they used old photos from our past cruises which were still in their computer system.
  5. No. Not something I have ever bothered with, but I tried jsut now. Another problem with this version!
  6. As you asked: my android phone just updated itself to 4,.23.1 No corrected itinerary, no menus for MDR, Pinnacle or Canaletto. Before, once I got 4.17 back by myself, I had the menus and the old itinerary, virtually everything. HAL is getting closer. I hope I get it all soon, or I will have to go back to 4.17 Thanks for your help :)
  7. So, should I bother to try the new 4.23.1? Will it do the same as 4.23 and not let me sign in?
  8. This is how we have been charged always. Price $200 x 18% = $236 - 50% of price (50% of $200 = $100) = $136 to charge. If all ship do it the"new" way it should be $200 - 50% = $100 + 18% = $118 We will be happy if our ship does it this new way :) About time, too.
  9. I did download 4.23 but it would not let me sign in, which rendered it totally unusable. So I went back to 4.17
  10. I had the same problem, the menus plus wine list were not showing for a day and a half. Then, it was all back, including our next cruise's events list (daily program)
  11. Insides are designated "I" down to "N" alphabetically. It is about price (more expensive down to less expensive) and of course location goes with that. Take a look at the deck plans on the HAL website for a good overview of it all.
  12. The inside and outside cabins definitely need updating. Bathroom especially: old peachy walls, old peachy tub, old not-so-great shower curtain which flaps around. Newer shower and sink fixtures. Nice wall-mounted, large TV. Older furniture, older chair and table, excellent bedding. Rest of interior is fine. This is not a Pinnacle class so you can have moderate expectations only. I believe the 2022 drydock upgrades suites and maybe the next level down. See photos on HALfacts.com Vista #4084 (from 2019), #4091(2019), #4199 (2022) and others. Most are older so not helpful.
  13. Yes! I did that yesterday. I'll see what happens today, and try that again. Not sure why so much on this app is fine, just like before. I noticed that besides the food and wine sections being blank, the day-by-day events sections for my cruise is completely gone, as well. Good thing I looked at it a few days ago. Thanks very much for your help!! :)
  14. Haha. Didn't think of that, actually not sure how to do this :) I don't want to blow this completely so could you let me know exactly what to do? Many thanks!
  15. This works! Thank you so much! Updating to 4.21 (Android). No way to use it as sign-in page kept disappearing instantly, so could not get into the app at all. Used the above link and back to 4.17 now. No menus for MRD, Lido, Pinnacle or Canaletto or wine list. Rest seems OK.
  16. I have Android with the 4.17 version. I have a ton of info for my next cruise on this app and version. How to date and will updating destroy what I have on the older version? Thanks!
  17. Congrats on your imminent 4 star status! With your sense of humour and and excellent writing skills you deserve those perks :) Thanks for the good ideas and the fun read. We think Package 2 is a better buy, better wine choices, but you know what you like - enjoy!
  18. Keep the bottom copy of the form for checking off items when they are returned. HAL should know about your purchase. Room attendant doesn't care about this. The Front desk places the charge (or not). They will need to look up your account and I hope they get it right the first time :) Take your receipt for having bought the package! First day is fine, may take a couple of days for return, or not! HAL uses quite harsh detergent and I like to wash my delicates myself. Hot water + hot dryer can "tighten up" some items and "loosen up" others. I pretty much have to throw out my DH's woven undies after a month cruise since the inch wide elastic stretches out. Have a lovely cruise!
  19. Haha! I know about that from teaching in university :) You rock!!!
  20. I miss the chocolates and coffee drinks nightly in the Explorers Lounge. Not that I need the calories, but it was a very elegant room and service then.
  21. Yes, you would think so! Too many newbies who are not well trained could be part of it. That this type of accounting problem is so persistent I find embarrassing for HAL. If they made these errors consistently with cruise reservation accounting I am sure they would get it fixed!
  22. Thank you for this post! Fascinating, hilarious, scary and disgusting all in one. You are very long-suffering and how you handle this so stoically and politely impresses me!
  23. Interesting thread. 10 years ago on a HAL Australia/NZ cruise our bar server was telling us he had been up until 3 am when his bar finally closed. A lot of drinking on that cruise and HAL was keeping guests well supplied! Things change!
