  1. I've been on her twice in the last three months and will be again in December. Blu was disappointing this last time, but everything else was fine. Of course, I'm addressing only the things important to me. Others might have problems with things important to them. 2015 is a ways off, so lots can change in the interim

  2. I became elite in Sept. of 2011. When I boarded my next cruise in January of 2012, the system didn't recognize me as elite, probably b/c when I booked, I was only select.

I was rather flabbergasted. The CC hostess, Karena, was lovely and did of course fix our status; but we had already not received the correct coupon offers and welcome letter, and our key card had the wrong status. All easily corrected, but I never dreamt it wouldn't happen automatically. And who wants the annoyance of having to request what you already should've received? Not I.

    .

I don't want to hear this;) At this very moment I am anxiously awaiting credits I have earned which would put me in a higher CC category in time, I hope, to give me the benefits on a TA next month. I doubt an angel of a CC hostess will be helping me, if they don't appear. Maybe a real angel will intervene

  3. If we had done B2B on the same ship we would have been recognized as elite on the second cruise. The CC host didn't make a big deal out of it, she just said she would email the other ship for us. We appreciated her help and thanked her, but it didn't seem like a major favour.

It was easy for her to do, but had she not done it, you might not have been recognized as Elite on the second half. I have had similar problems twice in the last year and had to spend a lot of time trying to iron things out with Celebrity headquarters. And there's no place to sit when you're using the concierge's phone. :( She did you a big favor.

  4. Thanks. We are a bit concerned that we would stand out dragging our luggage off amidst the other passengers who's luggage would be waiting for them in the terminal. Im pretty sure on RCI last year they stated that after a specific time there would be no self-disembarkation allowed.

If I were you, I would opt for the earliest time possible after self disembarkation. That way, you won't have to drag your own bags but the luggage will be in the terminal. Then you can wander off at your leisure sans bags, the best of all possible worlds. as Pangloss would say. We once disembarked but our luggage hadn't yet been offloaded. We had to wait until it was, not a serious problem, but a lesson learned.

  5. We just got back from a lovely cruise on the Connie in Aqua class on 11. But the only thing that was really difficult is sitting out on the verandah. Yes they hang out nicely. Yes they get lots of sun. But don't try sitting out there in anything but calms seas. Every time I was out there with any sort of swells causing the cabin to move, the sliding glass doors would slide open or slide shut repeatedly. They could not be locked open or closed. All day long you could hear the doors of other cabins repeatedly sliding open and closed. I finally wedged my cane between the slider and the frame to hold it closed. They should have put in a locking mechanism from the outside (as there is from the inside.) Not a super big deal but annoying.

We just came off the Connie and noticed we couldn't lock our door even from the inside. It wasn't a big deal and we didn't even tell the steward about it. It would be annoying if the door mover in rough seas, but we were in calm waters. I once got locked out on the balcony when a loose handle slipped from the open to the closed position.

  6. One reason might be that a lot of people don't like booking Europe in August because that's a big month for family holidays over there (lots of kids). Also very hot in August.

Sounds like a cruise we took two years ago, knowing that it would be hot from start to finish, but the chance of rain spoiling the trip would be virtually nil in August. Venice was hot but quite bearable, and we visit there frequently, so no problem. But Dubrovnik was practically unbearable, even for us who have lived in the south of the US for most of our lives. The walk around the wall was brutal but we finished it, never having done it before. But here's the good part, the rest of the trip was in Greece and it was delightful. Corfu, Olympia, Athens (we didn't go in the city, as it's another frequent stop), Mykonos, Santorini, were beautiful, and it was the wind, not the heat, on Delos that was a minor problem We were among the most traveled on the ship, probably because there were so many Europeans on board. I'm not sure whether is was a full cruise, either.

  7. Why do you say that the CC host did them a favor. They were Elite after the first cruise, correct?

Yes, technically they were Elite, but the Celebrity system allows 14 days for the points to be registered. That being the case, the computer wouldn't have shown them as being Elite on the second half of the back to back. So the host did them a big favor.

  8. If you live in the U.S. call the Captain's Club. If you are not a member they can sign you up before you sail and they can send you tags.

Maybe yes, maybe no. We had two cruises coming up in two weeks and the tags had not arrived. So I called the CC and, presto, the tags for one did arrive, the tags for the second never did. Such is life with Celebrity

  9. Nope, didn't work for me either.

Since it's a tailor-made list, it might be something that times-out.

    Dont-ya just love technology.

    Try again:

If that doesn't work (says "sorry, no matches"):

Go back to the "Britain" forum, and on the right-hand side above the questions & announcements click on "search this forum".

The page will flick down, you'll see a box "search this forum".

Type "Smiths" into the box & click on "go".

    JB :)

Thanks again, JB. Buggy whips and anvils, they're my idea of high tech.

  10. It may or may not be significant, but I favor being on the port side of the ship on a westbound TA and starboard side on an eastbound. TAs are mostly in April, October and November when the weather might be cooler and a bit of sunlight more appreciated. So it's 1606 for us next month on the Eclipse and 1111 on the Connie in November. We did an October crossing on the Grand Princess in a starboard cabin and enjoyed it, too. Maybe it isn't all that important after all

  11. in Port Evergladw

We will be coming off the Century and going to the Silhouette in February. Have seen lots of advice and topics about doing B to B on the same ship but not 2 different ships. Has anyone out there ever done this before? Any advice on what is the easiest way to do this. Did you just take a cab in the port area to the next ship? Any help would be appreciated to alleviate any problems. Thanks in advance.

We did exactly that in December-from the Connie to the Eclipse in Port Everglades. Celebrity provided a free bus, as there were quite a number of us, but there was a half hour wait to board it. Maybe this is uncommon but it worked well for all of us including a couple who was dragging scuba gear. Some passengers took cabs, rather than wait for the bus.

  12. Bonus points for Feb 3rd cruise not posted. Problems was that they didn't code the promotion and there will be major delays in posting. Dueto earn things that will take me to. zenith on March 27th. Will be taking first cruise at that level on April 19th. Been assured that they will contact ship if points are not posted. Had 3 people at Celebrity verify points.

We might be on that same cruise if it's a TA. What are the odds of their contacting the ship?:D

  13. It's on the TA's invoice.

It's under 'Pre - Paid Gratuties/ Captains Club Points P.P'

The booking is for April 5th 2015 on Century.

So you haven't yet gotten the 25 points. I completely misunderstood your initial post. This is shaping up to be another Celebrity farce. I can only say that in 28 years of cruising with Princess, I never had such problems.

  14. Terigo, you're certainly not going against my tide. Breaded scallops, risotto, escargot, and filet mignon, all of which can be good food, if well prepared, do not qualify as really upscale where I'm from. Heck, I do every one of them rather routinely, and I do not claim to be the greatest cook. They are widely available in every decent restaurant where I live. More and more I see that a good veranda and the MDR with a periodic specialty restaurant will be adequate for me. But I do like the poached eggs in Blu.

  15. We too are awaiting these bonus points for an Aqua class booking. The points for the actual saling were posted quickly but it's been almost 6 weeks since we returned and still no bonus points. We were counting on those points to make Elite+ before our TA cruise in late April. I guess I'll wait a little longer before I start really bugging them about it.

As seems to be the norm lately promised update calls have not materialized. I miss the good old days of great customer service.

It appears we are all in the same boat. I was told the bonus points had to be entered manually and there were lots to be added. They'd better be working overtime, if that's the case. The promise made when I booked this cruise on board was that the points would be added in 14 days. That was a major selling point and, fortunately, I retained the paper that made that promise for what it's worth. Highlighted by the future cruise agent. I don't like the looks of this and I'll be really upset if I don't have the higher CC category when I board in April.

  16. Yes.

I got my 25 points for booking C.C on Century, but there is no Aqua on Century.

There was talk at the time of different booking conditions in UK.

When did you take that cruise and do you recall how long it took Celebrity to post them to your account? I need to get mine added quickly as they will put me in a higher category for a two week cruise I'll soon be taking. Thanks
