  1. Hadn't realise we (Queen Elizabeth) would be sailing same time as the QV. Will we shadow each other all the way to Bermuda? How exciting.

    We were on the QV when we passed the QE off the coast of Africa. We were heading north and they were heading south. The Captain announced that each ship would sound the horns, and the other would respond, to commemorate the event. It was very special. :)

  2. The Plan was for gthed ship to hurry hurrry to B oston, tie up and ride out gthe storm.

    A family member said their ship would head out to sea during a hurricane as it was not safe to be "tied up" in port. I'm thinking you mean they set anchor. Did you receive any credits for the changes?

  3. The duck was supposed to be at Tall Ships Philadelphia-Camden a couple of years ago but before we got there it had snagged on something underwater and the air all leaked out. They tried to repair it (with Duck Tape?) but it didn't hold, so all we saw was a pile of yellow up on the shore.

    NOOOOOOOO :loudcry::loudcry::loudcry:

    Oh wait. You said a couple of years ago. I can relax again. lol

  4. Sorry, I DO think you're crazy! ;p I looked at a half-dozen my edoc pdfs and even a few blue-pouch docs dating back 12 years (18 cruises) and can find no mention of check-in or boarding times varying by deck. Even our Koningsdam cruise last November, for which we got an email stating that boarding time would vary by deck, listed a fixed Embarkation time of 2:00 pm in the boarding pass. (That was because of the inspections expected for her first time in a US port.) Everything else I could find said 1:00 pm. :D

    :') You special.

    But seriously though. My check-in times were always different! I swear! :') I remember feeling jilted about getting a 2:30pm boarding time once.

  5. :confused::confused: This is very strange. We've been on 20 HAL cruises starting in 2002 and have never seen staggered check-in or boarding times before our K'dam cruise last November. Are you sure you are not thinking of some other cruise line?

    Here's a recent thread on it. Just so you don't think I'm crazy. ;p lol

  6. Not sure HAL has any cruise itinerary that meets your criteria of Hawaii, round-trip from the US (and not Canada).

    Off the top of my head, San Diego is a round trip US port.

    1. Holland America is "midwestern", for people who don't even live in the mid-west.

    2. Princess has a more California vibe

    To me, a "California vibe" is to be healthy and take care of your body. Is "California Cruise" an oxymoron? :confused:

  7. This is not the same as getting a boarding "group number" at check-in, it is an attempt to not have everyone arrive early for check-in. HAL only started doing it around last November or so. Before that the boarding passes always said check-in time was 1:00 for everyone.

    Not referring to the group numbers. On all my boarding documents there has been a specific, staggered, boarding time listed, going back years.

    Editing to add that the emails with the boarding times is new; the process is not, however.
