  1. Thanks for this thread it has a lot of helpful info. Do you all purchase a policy for each cruise or do you purchase an annual policy to cover multiple trips?
  2. Interesting that you’re having internet problems. Been on Divina twice and didn’t have any issue with the speed. We always booked the all in drinks and WiFi (browse only) never tried to stream video. Is that where you’re having a problem? Just booked Divina again today for Dec 30th. It’s our favorite ship of any cruise line we’ve been on.
  3. Hi Pat! I hope you and your family are staying well and enjoying your summer! Thank you! I couldn’t remember the details of Steve’s story only tidbits (happening a lot more lately) 🙈 I don’t understand how anyone can enjoy themselves when they know they didn’t pay to be in the YC but they’re using the YC services anyway. All to save a few thousand dollars…hardly seems worth the trouble and angst.
  4. Hmmm my first thought is maybe those folks on deck 9 were moved from YC but are still able to use the YC dining. A longtime member on here had that happen. He booked and paid for YC but was moved to deck 8 (if I remember correctly) but his docs still said YC privileges. His name is Steve CC name divina??? Can’t remember exactly. Anyone else remember this?
  5. We used the Inspire tests for our Bermuda cruise last month on Pearl. No problem at all getting our TA approved so you’ll be fine.
  6. Yes that’s exactly what we did. We purchased the at home tele monitored tests from Inspire and booked an early test appt for Wednesday @8:30 am. Had our results by 8:50ish and immediately uploaded our results to the Bermuda site and by 9:32 we had our TA approved. Be sure to register on the Bermuda site the day you book the cruise. Pay the fee and upload your vaccination cards. They will send you an email confirmation and then 3 days before the sailing they will send you a reminder to get tested and upload results. If you do it that way you won’t have any problems.
  7. We left from Boston on 04/15 at that time only unvaccinated children (and adults who qualify) were being tested again at the pier before embarking. Everyone has to bring proof of a negative Covid test with them to the pier as well (test taken 2-3 days prior depending on vaccination status) Having said that with Covid cases rising again in our area things could change so check the NCL site regularly for updates and even after you book check it daily as it gets closer to your sailing. Some schools here in RI are again requiring masks starting this week 🤦🏻‍♀️
  8. Oh no I’m so sorry. It sounds like you’re having the same symptoms my husband had. My Covid experience was more like a sinus infection but he was down and pretty sick for a couple of weeks. Sending positive healing thoughts your way❤️
  9. That’s really crazy! When we had the free drinks on MSC last November by day 3 I couldn’t drink like I did the first 2 days. When we cruise I like a frozen drink in the afternoon and either a glass of wine or a martini with dinner but that’s about it. I guess for people who drink multiple drinks every day it can come out cheaper but there is no way we spend almost $100 a day on booze. I’d rather eat my calories instead of drink them lol
  10. From what I recall the ship was late getting into Boston for your sailing right? I can’t imagine having to wait 3.5 hrs inside that terminal. I hope your experience in NY is much better and happy cruising!
  11. I have to say Boston looked worse than that on 4/15. Not sure if I took a picture or not I’ll have to go back and look. But I went to use the ladies room which was near the Haven pre boarding area and about 50 people were packed inside this little partitioned off room just to get the free drink and snack🤔. People never cease to amaze me. Pay thousands of dollars to cruise but God forbid they miss out on the free snacks before boarding. lol We were in a suite, waited in the main area and were on the ship by 12:10pm exactly 10 min after the announcement was made that Haven and then Suite guests could start boarding.
  12. Feel better!!! That’s how we felt when we tested positive. I guess the one positive is now we have some extra immunity. 🤞
  13. Hi We used that test when we cruised last November. Our cruise left on a Sunday so we needed to test on Friday. We went on line a little after midnight to take the test (Friday) because we had spent a week in FL before our cruise I wanted enough time to get another test if we had a problem with the proctored test. No appt was required. At that time you could get on to take a test 24 hrs a day. Not sure if they changed that but there should be some info about the hrs of testing on the site. We used the NAVICA app for the proctored test.
  14. Nothing but bullies. Probably raising little bullies as well.
  15. THIS is exactly what I mean when I said NCL is not prepared for this. I am so sorry that they didn’t allow you to isolate with your husband. Being a close contact you should have HAD to isolate anyway. I worked with seniors for a very long time…most of my career so I am very experienced with Alzheimer and Dementia patients and I’m just heartbroken that the medical staff on your cruise didn’t understand your husband’s needs. You should have been with him not only because you were already a close contact but because of his Alzheimer’s. Where are they getting these people from? Unacceptable. I’m sorry this is just so wrong on so many levels. I’m livid.
  16. Well we did get such a thing and I still have them. We had to submit a copy of this to our insurance for reimbursement. Are you sure you ordered these tests? This is what they look like
  17. No they’re not the same. The proctored tests say ag card and you need to purchase them from the company who “prescribes” them to you. I actually received a prescription In each of our names when I ordered them from emed last year.
  18. There should be protocols in place because I guarantee you that not everyone in our situation would care about getting on a packed shuttle exposing the other unsuspecting passengers to Covid. Believe it or not there are people out there that need to be told exactly what to do. Lucky for the other passengers on that shuttle we aren’t “those” people. We actually care about other people not just ourselves. Having worked in a Senior care facility the last 26 years I could tell you dozens of stories of stupidity. We felt like the medical staff on Pearl had zero direction when it came to what to do with passengers who test positive during the cruise. ZERO. It was both pathetic and a little scary at the same time. That’s not a good feeling. I didn’t feel like that after our last cruise 11/2021
  19. Pearl didn’t show signs of enhanced health protocols on our 04/15/2022 sailing. Both of us tested positive for Covid hubby on last night and me two days after. By day 2 my husband said to me “it will be a miracle if we don’t test positive for Covid on this ship”. Crowded elevators, crowded hottubs and pool and crowded family activities with the kids and don’t even get me started about the packed embarkation process in Boston. The entire thing was a mess. It was a FAR cry from the Covid protocols on board MSC Divina in Nov 2021. Only difference was the ships were still under CDC watch back then. We will be hanging up our “cruise shoes” until further notice because it’s clear things are headed in the wrong direction again.
  20. Wow I am so glad your husband insisted that they let you off the ship in Cabo. That sounds like a horrific experience and I’m so happy you received such great care in Cabo. It won’t be long before NCL is shut down again if they continue on this path. I get that they want to go back to normal but clearly what they’re doing isn’t working with so many of us testing positive on their ships.
  21. We received the test results at about 9:30pm on the last night of the cruise so they just had us stay in our room and in the morning we were taken off the ship with our own luggage by 8:15 am. We went through a different area than the other passengers. We parked near the ship and drove home. I took the shuttle alone to get our car and picked up my husband and grandson. Nobody on Pearl told us to do that or even asked how we planned to get to our car. They just asked if we had a flight and when we told them no we live an hour away and drove our own car they just said ok We weren’t impressed with their lack of concern when it came to that.
  22. Kate I wish you the best and you will be in my thoughts for a full recovery❤️ When we were tested on board I asked the nurse who did the test if there were other cases on board and she wouldn’t give us a number just said yes there were. When I tested positive on Saturday night I called NCL with that information but the phone rep didn’t seem to know what to do with it. The interesting thing about this cruise is we live an hour from Boston so we didn’t even have to get on a plane like we have done a dozen other times since 2020 and Covid became a thing. We did a long southwest trip with multiple flights in Sept 2020 before we were vaccinated and didn’t contact Covid. I worked in a Senior living facility until retiring at the end of 2021 and avoided Covid all that time (we were required to be tested twice a week until we had the vaccine then once a week after the vaccine) so I would know if I had Covid before this. My husband is a healthy 58 yr old and I’ve never seen him so sick. We’ve been back 3 weeks tomorrow and he’s still coughing and has zero energy. Just got his taste and smell back this week. I thankfully just felt like I had a sinus infection. We were waiting until Fall to get the second booster and never thought we’d catch it on the Pearl since we cruised so safely in Nov 2021 on Divina. I think you could cruise safely if you wear an N95 mask at all times and avoid large groups. Maybe enjoy your balcony if you have one and don’t go in the crowded hot tubs or elevators. We had our little grandson so we were definitely out and about more than if we hadn’t had him with us. Also you probably wouldn’t have as many kids on your sailing as most schools get out the next week around here. I hope you can enjoy a cruise soon!
  23. Splash Academy is open however it’s limited and an adult/parent must stay with the child. We were told the closure would be lifted April 1st when we booked our cruise in March. It even stated that on their website. Then on April 1st it was changed to dropoff is closed until further notice. I haven’t checked recently to see if they have the June 1st date posted now but I doubt it.
  24. I don’t see them fully opening it again until maybe the Fall or maybe if NCL makes vaccines mandatory for children. They gave my grandson $100 arcade credit on our sailing because drop off was closed. The arcade on Pearl is tiny and it was PACKED every single time we went in there. We went to 1 family activity in Bliss lounge and it was so full there weren’t any seats available. Didn’t feel safe so we left. Went to karaoke one night in Bliss, again so busy it was standing room only and teens and kids were only ones singing. Again we left. Not the kid’s fault, they were looking for stuff to do, I felt sorry for them. I don’t understand the theory that dropoff service remains closed but they fill a lounge with children AND their parents for activities. So double or triple the number of people at an activity? Oh yes NCL that’s much much safer. 🤦🏻‍♀️
