  1. My guess is Regent will never put in an Indian restaurant because too many people dislike Indian food or are not familiar enough with it. There is a reason most specialty restaurants are either Italian, steak houses or possibly French. An Asian fusion type restaurant sometimes works too because it's not too specific and gives people options. Only a mega ship like RCCL or Norwegian where they may have twenty restaurants on board can afford to have something as specific as Indian. jmo.

I ordered an INdia curry several times on Regent cruise last Nov-Dec . IT was billed as "mild" but I asked for SPICY! That's the way I like it! I like almost all veggies.

  2. Hi Travelcat2

1.Regent makes the policie daytime onboard or ashore, and consists of resort-style outfits. Casual wear, including shorts and jeans, is not appropriate after 6:00 pm, with the exception of the final evening of the cruise. On the night prior to disembarkation, guests may need to pack their luggage early due to morning flights the next day. With this in mind odress includes skirt, or slacks with blouse or sweater, pant suit or dress for ladies; slacks and collared shirt for gentlemen. Sport jackets are optional. Jeans, shorts, t-shirts or tennis shoes are not to be worn at dinner. Ties are not required. On sailings of 16 nights or more, Formal and Semi-Formal attire is optional on two evenings. On the two Formal Optional evenings, guests are welcome to dress as per the Elegant Casual dress code or opt for a more formal choice of clothing including gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies; tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits with tie for gentlemen

Unless I have missed something nothing is mentioned about hats.

By the way I would not ware any hat to dinner. Europe.

In the past year we were in Europe 3 different times. 2 times just traveling on our own and once on a river cruise. Wore my cap most of the time during the day. Of coarse when we went into a place of worship I always removed my cap. Never felt out of place anywhere.

    3. By the way my favorite cruise line is Carnival. I really enjoy the Limbo contest!!!

I try not to take much of this stuff or myself very serious. It's not life or death.

Look forward to meeting you in November. Remember I will be the guy with the cap on.

PS On a more serious note what are your thoughts on the shots needed or recommended for Cape Town trip.

    (Partial quote above.)

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL1995-2015 so far 52 pax and crew went overboard on Carnival! Regent ZERO!!!!

Check Events at Sea for the deatils!!!!

  3. If you send me your address, I will send you some of ours. We have to recycle paper every two weeks and I did it this past weekend. In a two week period, we had 11 brochures between Regent and Oceania.

    gnomie. :)

PS - I am not kidding, I will be more than happy to send you some of our catalogs, we have two addresses and get doubles of everything

I think they LIKE you A LOT!~ Perhaps for your birthday they will send a card with a fat OBC included!

  4. DO the Alaskan cruise. I have never seen scenery like that anywhere in the world (and I live IN the alps...) It is majestic. And seen from the water totally awe-inspiring. I think Regent is sending Mariner back to Alaska - we went to Alaska on Mariner on our first Regent cruise (Radisson at the time). We were on the ship when she hit a "growler" and the cruise turned out to be longer than planned. But even with that in mind I would do it again!

Antarctica is much better than Alaska. In Alaska I was underwhelmed!

  5. swabs, tell your TA what category or price suite you desire. TA should know "good" or "bad " suite locations.

Many people want to be low and amidships for less motion. Maybe you want to be near stairs or elevator or not! Tell your TA what situation you want!

    GOOD LUCK and Bon Voyage

  6. Sail7Seas gave you excellent advice - she's an HAL expert!

We've more than 200 wonderful days on various HAL ships and found the food VERY GOOD - especially the cold soups.

HAL ships were getting too large for us so we defected to Regent Seven Seas Cruises' smaller ships . And we love the "All Inclusive." NO bill the day you have to leave the ship.

    Bon Voyage!

  7. A few years ago we sailed Navigator from Cape Town to FLL - and loved every of the 35 days! The standard suites are larger than Mariner's but same as Voyager's.

BTW: Some times the beef was too dry but other times good. I'm reluctant to order rare, now always specify medium rare, still some dry! Filet is my favorite or chateaubriand etc.

More often now I have veggies or spicy curries! (I want to hit a century!)
