We were there in May, asked the kind volunteers at the port the best way into town and were told to take the number 11 bus, they accepts credit cards. Make sure you walk through the group selling the HOHO bus tours, the stop is on the other side of the road just left from the zebra crossing. The stop you need is Princes Street near the Scots monument, you can see the castle from there its a nice uphill. Have a nice day the Royal Mile is amazing. Happy planning Rosalyn

Hi could you please elaborate on which is "the usual part of deck four was closed for quarantine" I am worried that I might be bumped out of my carefully chosen cabin! I don’t know which cruise line you will be on but many offer a sort of sightseeing tour with airport drop-off. We used this in Rome and were very pleased about it no worries about luggage because its with you. Other option is to look for a “day room”, just google it. Happy planning Rosalyn

Miriam, so you did clear the wait list! We will be leaving from Amsterdam on Norwegian Dawn on 24th May then up around Scotland, Kirkwall Orkney’s and via Ireland to Southhampton. We will stay in Richmond with my sister and family and also celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend before flying back to Amsterdam on 5th June. Will keep notes on Portland.
