  1. I'm not sure why but I feel this outcome was predestined....

I can't imagine comparing Carnival with Royal Caribbean, I mean I just feel Carnival are a real step down. Even in the ranks of Carnival Corporation everyone I know believes Carnival to be a step way down from Princess which I would say is more comparable to Royal Caribbean.

Maybe you were just looking for a Carnival cruise in the wrong place.....

  2. That's what we do, we book onboard and then transfer our booking to our TA and get what each offers.

Its true you lose some control over your booking but I feel if you have a good TA this is never a problem, in fact many times they have gotten things done for me that I was never able to accomplish when I booked direct with RC.

The import thing is that you cruise!

  3. What Oasis and Allure have is a thermal suite that is in the spa area. It is on a lower deck (one deck below the fitness center) and not convenient to the pools and whirlpools (pool deck). There is a day fee (possibly $20 or $30?) or a weekly fee. We paid about $200 with tip for a couples' weeklong pass.

There is a small, cramped locker room down the hall from the thermal suite. You trade your seapass for a locker key. Towels and robes are provided. The thermal suite has a small steam room, a small sauna, and a small aromatherapy room. There are heated ceramic loungers and special showers.

The setup on Voyager and Freedom class ships with the larger sauna/steam room in the locker room (which you do not pay extra for) is, in my opinion, far preferable.

So are there showers in the Men's Locker room? If so how many?

    Thanks!

  4. can you buy a bucket of beer, or is that an NCL thing?

I was thinking, buy a bucket and take that back.

Yes they always have bucket deals going on and they only open the first one so you could take the rest to your cabin.

I have even had a warm beer the next day and just go to any of the bars and exchange it with them...doesn't happen very often as I always seem to drink them all...:D

  5. So far what seems to be the consensus is that once all the ships have a Diamond Lounge then this might be the time C&A make the decision. But it seems this will be in 2016....I think....

The vouchers may be a way to alleviate the problem in the meantime.

It's all just hear say at this point....new levels, new system of points, a black card...who knows...

  6. Is there any merit to the concept of more balcony rooms these days? Meaning anytime more people spend more time in their cabin - then ship will feel less crowded.

Is this how Oasis helps manage such high pax counts - many folks take in CP or the water from their balcony?

I think gross tonnage while I understand here a first measurable mark - but it has to be more on amount of public spaces. Just because you add 4 more decks of cabins, if you don't add more pools or lounges - then the displacement of those cabins is going against the formula not with it.

As many people stay glued to the big screen on today's pool decks - I am all for that. Put better TVs/Games in staterooms, and leave more deck room for me.

I totally agree, we have cruised on the Grand Princess and found the space to passenger ratio great and later that same year on the Crown Princess which is basically the same ship but with one more deck of balcony's...it always seemed crowded...it has basically the same common areas but like 700 more passengers.

With RC the Voyager class is great...unless you have bad weather and no one can be outside...then it feels very crowded...
