  1. Having done a westbound 14night from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale some years ago we enjoyed weather from 26 - 28 degrees C (79 - 82 degrees F) after we had crossed the Bay of Biscay. As it will still be summer in Spain and the ship should sail a southerly route to Spain we are expecting it to be even hotter. See you on board!

    That sounds totally awesome!

  2. The interior cabins that sleep 4 use dropdown beds (like bunk beds but without the posts) So everyone has a single bed against the wall.

The first question is if you need to get up at night to pee....this can be very cumbersome in a dark room at 3am.

We traveled with some friends and they were sharing a quad room...they did not enjoy it very much....but it wasn't so much sleeping or the washroom....for them it was no space to put all their clothes, shoes and just general stuff. Especially on the Oasis where cupboard/wardrobe space is very sparse.

We have never had more than just the 2 of us...

  3. The thing about tipping upfront is your only as important as your tip....what I mean is you get to your room and slip the cabin steward a $20....but your neighbor a couple of doors down slips him a $50....

I would guess when Mr.$50 calls he will have the stewards undivided attention...using the logic of the pre-tip...to ensure great service!

We have always had great service, have never pre-tipped and always given extra for exceptional service and it seems to work fine.

    Just an observation

  4. I would say the 50 Million is including repeat customers....just like McDs

They have sold 50 million cruises....

We cruise quite a bit and generally cruise longer itineraries and not many short ones. We find there to be like a 40/60 split with Royal Caribbean, 40% repeat and 60% first timers. This is a very general observation and from info given at the welcome back parties that we have attended.

I think Royal Caribbean has the most repeat customers from any other cruise company. Again just an observation having traveled on many different cruise ship lines.

I believe that the loyalty program has a lot to do with this phenomena.

  5. Hey I just did 2 mock reservations: 1 on the UK website with the all inclusive and 1 on the Canadian website No All inclusive.

I used the Freedom sailing Nov 09 2014 in both cases and a PR Interior Stateroom (the cheapest) and the UK site was $1000 CAD more than the Canadian one so if you add the basic drinks package and the tips it's still cheaper to book out here....and I did not use the resident discount which sometimes makes a small difference.

    Just for your info.

  6. Unfortunately it does very from ship to ship and cruise to cruise but in general I would recommend Chops. Its really a fantastic value for money and especially on a special occasion its lots of fun.

The menu has been updated recently but some ships still offer the old one.

We always go at least once each cruise....guess that's why my pants don't fit so good....:o

    Enjoy!

  7. I was amazed at I guy we know Andrew, on a cruise we did a few months back we saw on the flow rider and he was amazing....I mean better then the instructors. He even has his own board...

I am 48 and never tried it (fear of breaking something) and he is older then me by a bit but seeing him on the board...it looked like he was a teenager...he was doing spins and stuff...very cool!

I think with him its all time spent on cruises, he is a Pinnacle Club member.

We are on the Oasis in September for the TA...who know I might try it...

  8. We have tried both booking 12-18 months out and quite last min. like less then a month out. What I have been seeing lately is some good last min. deals.

The only thing is you need to be flexible with your dates...and not be too picky with the cabins....

Just recently we booked Alaska on the Radiance B2B for under $500 p/p each way. We booked interior but got outside for that price and got $100 OBC each way. It was very last min. less than a month out. Our big advantage was no flight needed as we live in Vancouver.

I hope the same thing happens with Dec.....Good Luck!

  9. I would first try to speak with the Concierge, this is what they are there for...special requests. Would be very surprised if they did not get this handled for you.

If you have no luck the day you board just go to the dining room and check your table...who knows maybe it will be sorted....if not or you are nor happy with it speak with the person at the computer usually on deck 4, they have always been able to get us a table for 2 when we requested it.

I am sure you will get the table you want and have a great cruise.

  10. Bubble liquid is actually not on the prohibited items list, but I would ask you to think about it. Bubble soap is very slippery when dropped/spilled on deck (even though it is your own balcony). Also, should the bubbles burst in another passenger's eye, well, that's not very pleasant, not to mention messy and sticky if they land on windows and railings. :(

To answer your specific question, there is no guideline for open liquids unless it is a beverage of some sort.

I love having fun as much as the next person but I would not bring bubbles onboard a ship.

    .

    OMG!

  11. So Freedom of the Seas holds 3600 PAX at $.75 day tip for 7 days is $18,900per cruise that's collected in tips plus any extras given.... (always assuming everyone tips) This is almost $500,000 every 6 months....

If there are 15 head waiters aboard that's $1260 each week for each head waiter....or $32,760 per 6 month contract plus the base wage they make and please note that all of this is tax free!

If there are 10 head waiters aboard that's $1890 each week for each head waiter....or $49,140 per 6 month contract plus the base wage they make and please note that all of this is tax free!

    I think....:D

  12. Can you get tea, coffee or hot chocolate after hrs. in the windjamer, or do you have to purchase these extra somewhere else on the ship. Thanks.

If you enter the Windjammer on the left hand side (after the washrooms) it is open until quite late or even 24h for coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The Windjammer will be closed but this area stays open.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  13. Some of the things they can do for you is:

give you internet credit if the service is slow....always slow

print out your boarding passes the night before departure

offer you insight, transfer info and restaurant info of the ports you will be visiting

look after any and all issues you might have or come across during your cruise

help you with information and booking of shore excursions (he can print out the vouchers

book specialty restaurants with very short notice...always gets you in

book the spa for you, will usually have special suite deals...

help you plan a party in your suite

can try to arrange a meal at the Captains table on formal night (no guarantee but good chance)

can help you with any special needs you might have or need (pillows/food etc.)

will sent you and email before your cruise introducing themselves and asking if you require anything

    Enjoy your suite! :D

  14. Hi Robert and Ana,

I know you are trying a way to stay on all year. Hope both of you are doing well. Hope to see you next year on Serenade or Jewel.

    Karen

We had a great time on the Radiance....we also hope to see you on the Serenade...I really want to visit New Orleans....but love the Canada run too....maybe we will have to do both....

Enjoy your summer and congrats on the soon to be Pin...hope you get your name first!

    All the best!

    R & A

  15. I still remember our first cruise, Legend of the Seas out of Barcelona in 1998...wow what a time that was...5 course dinners that took over 2 hours...everyone was dressed up. They did cherries jubilee, crepe suzette's the service was impeccable. You had a small ice cream cart that you could serve yourself I think Haagen-Dazs ice cream....mmm, free shuttles at every post, those were the days...but I also remember paying $1950 for 7 days for 2 of us in a outside cabin...my last cruise 17 years later was $1400 for 7 days in a balcony for 2 of us....and we got $200 OBC....on Independence of the Seas.

I think if we put things into perspective we have to agree that cruising with Royal Caribbean is pretty good value for money. I mean one night hotel in a Hampton Inn is over $100 plus tax...and no food, no entertainment, no DL or CL, no casino....no amazing ship to tour...

I think RC do an amazing job! :D

    Just my opinion!

  16. Hey we appreciate the gifts they give us....they make for a nice snack on our flight, that give us absolutely nothing....and my wife uses the brown box to put all her hair stuff during the cruise...its a great organizer....

BTW! When was the last time a business gave you anything for getting what you pay for?

How many times have you shopped at the same supermarket, hairdresser, bought a car or a home and get anything from them...any credits...gifts...drinks from 5-8:30, welcome back parties....

I spend a lot more money buying a car every couple of years then cruising and have never had the MFG send me anything....only surveys of how there doing...

What is it with this entitlement...so big deal you've done 10 cruises....and your entitled...

I think RC are very generous in what they give us loyal cruisers...a lot more then any other cruise line...a lot more.

Anyways I got off topic...RC if your reading this " We love the gift boxes!"
