  1. It worked and my celebrity points carried over to Azamara. In viewing the info it appeared that previously Azamara might have given 1st timers benefits with the exception of free days credits for past cruises. Has any new Azamara cruiser received the other benefits, discounts on specialty dining, internet packages, etc. on the first cruise? It would be nice to know.
  2. I have Discoverer status from past Celebrity sailings. My first Azamara sailing is next month. I realized when doing the check in I didn't have a Le Club # for my wife so attempted to register her and couldn't. Called Azamara and was told we don't have the benefits till after our first cruise when she will be assigned a number. Interesting that I do have a number however probably off one the the previous Azamara cruises that were canceled by the line in 2020 and 2021. Lots of confusion but very happy I can finally cruise. Now to be sure I stay Covid negative so are allowed boarding.
  3. Thanks for the catch. I missed that. 🙂
  4. I am on the Iceland Intensive cruise in Aug 2022. Does anyone have knowledge as to where the ship docs at Skagafjörður? There doesn't seem to be a town but rather it is the name of a fiord. My best guess is port is Sauðárkrókur but can't make plans if I don't know where we will be. Thank you.
  5. Truly there is little logic in using age to delineate if the activity is safe or not. An opinion of when many get into trouble is not the activity but panicking. Snorkeling uses little energy especially off a boat. Being a strong enough swimmer to realize if you can make it through the surf line could be another issue. Standing in line at the buffet could actually be the most dangerous thing we do. That couple behind me looks voraciously hungry. Oops....sorry about getting off topic. There is no restriction for age at the buffet 😁
  6. A spinning bike would give you the same proof of conditioning. I do spin classes 5 days a week. We have lots of seniors at our gym in the class who are in excellent condition. I also see people try the class and quit during or don't return an indication of their level of conditioning. Another great filter and reality check. Was also a lifeguard in college and remember bodysurfing the wedge. Older and wiser I do know my limitations now.
  7. Idea! How about they put us on the treadmill and check out our conditioning. Seems a better way to screen and separate out the capable cruisers and remind those to restrict the difficulty of the excursions chosen. Those in poor conditioning might already be aware based upon their cardiologist appointments. Age is an easy way to filter but is very inaccurate.
  8. How did you check in? I am also on a mid August sailing and check in is not available. Others have not been able to check in only a few weeks prior to their sailing date. Please confirm.
  9. Booking through independent tour operators has not been a problem. Another benefit of going outside the "official cruise line excursions" is smaller groups and better prices.
  10. I am on the Iceland cruise in August. This is my first Azamara cruise and I am already in process of considering a back to back for next year; Azamara, Oceana and Celebrity being the lines considered. I have been following the different cruise lines on the forums and while most sailing Azamara have generally been pleased the back office needs to get their game up as communications with their customers seems to be horrible when compared to their competition. I am in a service business myself and my business today is 90% repeat and referrals. I suspect the cruise business is not much different. I hope someone from Azamara and their owner, Sycamore Partners sees this and takes it seriously.
  11. Azamara has free self serve laundry on board. Why would you want to carry more? Check out Rick Steves video on his site for travelling with less.
  12. This will be my first Azamara cruise. We have done Celebrity in the past and have bought bottle packages where i have found acceptable choices. I understand that per glass many can’t tell the difference between wines other than the color red and white. I have already located wine stores at are debarkation city and plan to buy and bring on for dinner and pay the corkage.
  13. I found this company that you supply your test kit and they proctor the test online for $15 US. https://onpoint-testing.com/product/certified-teleservice-covid-testing/ Would like to know if it is acceptable to Azamara.
  14. Is Azamara accepting web proctored antigen test results? I found https://onpoint-testing.com/ that charges $15 and you use your own test box that is required to be unopened. We will be arriving a week before our cruise in Iceland touring by car and the day of our cruise will be driving 7 hours to back to board the ship from small villages with limited facilities. Otherwise it would have to be done at the port preboarding.
  15. Unfortunately shareholder OBC from RCl is no longer. I tried!.
  16. I believe no limit exists with Azamara. Corkage charged if opened in the dining room.
  17. Royal Caribbean does but here is the latest from RCL's website On January 19th, 2021, the Royal Caribbean Group announced it had entered into a definitive agreement to sell our sister brand Azamara to Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm specializing in consumer, retail and distribution investments. The transaction was completed on March 19th, 2021. As a result of the announcement, Azamara is no longer be part of the MyCruise® Rewards program. Rest assured, as a valued Royal Caribbean Visa Signature cardholder, all other program benefits remain the same including: Double Points on qualifying purchases with Royal Caribbean® and Celebrity Cruises® 1 Point per $1 spent on purchases everywhere else Points expire 5 years after the month they were earned As travel points can be given with many cards from 3-5 pts/$ there are better options out there.
  18. Seems like the answer is no one knows. I will have the same problem as I will be traveling in the remote areas of Iceland. Expect to have internet available but not going to spend my vacation trying to find a printer for documents.
  19. I have a nice wine cellar. Been a serious collector for decades. . I still drink what i define as spaghetti wines for every day drinking I read about ir find at Costco. Not impressed with the upgraded wines in the “ultimate” package. Will see what the ports offer and pay for tge very reasonable corkage. One positive is one in the cabin can upgrade while other cruise lines require both. My wife doesn't drink.
  20. Just kudo's deserved for the effort doing the postings. It gives us something to look forward to when we board next. I will be on the Pursuit in 2 months and wish I was there already. I still have working vacations so the poor internet does give me concern. I have a hotspot I own but need to be close enough to land for reception. So ultimately buy it and try to wake up early when I might grab more band width. While it might be interesting to have a fiber optic cable attached to the cruise ship the reason we cruise is that will never happen. FYI Mussels and Frites are my favorite dinner so just decided we are going out tonight for them while we impatiently wait for our time to board in less than 90 days. .
