  1. Hi

Does anybody know if there is a good beach close by to where the ship docks to snorkel from or have any information on small boats that may take us out to some of the more deserted islands cheaply , we do not want to be paying out a lot for transportation if we can help it , thank you

  2. Hi Paul

We are on the same cruise but only to Auckland , we are going to get a Thomas cook cash card , you can load 13 different most used currencies on to it at one time , we are going to get one each so if you lose one or have it stolen you will still have one , they are free and you can load them online if you need to top up , if you only take one and it is lost or stolen they will wire you cash within 4 hours apparently , it is used like a debit card with a pin number , hope this helps

  3. The fastest and easiest way to get to Oia is by water taxi from the tender dock for €15. Included is a shuttle up into the village and a bus ticket back to Fira.

Please, please don't ride the donkeys and please tell others on your cruise not to ride them. They are terribly abused. They are forced to run up and down all those steps all day long with no breaks for water, shade or rest. The donkey men poke them with sharp sticks or sticks with little metal tips they can conceal in their pockets and insert in the stick ends when necessary to keep these poor animals moving. The saddles chafe their skin and cause open wounds. This is a serious case of animal abuse and everyone who ignores this for the sake of convenience or "fun" is contributing to the perpetuation of the problem.

If you don't believe me do a Google Images search for "Santorini Donkey Abuse". Don't let this define your memory of Santorini!

Totally agree , do not take the donkeys , I also refuse to take any horse and cart/carriage rides for the same reasons in other ports of call

  4. Hi

We know there is a port at Caticlan on the mainland and Cagban Port jetty on Boracay island but not sure which they tender to , does anybody know please ?

    Any help much appreciated

  5. So that would be 5 times the size of my wine box (approx.) well you could try...

Thing is as its for in cabin only could you drink that amount  during a cruise..unless its a worldy I guess..

No problem drinking it Haha , carrying it would be a problem , would weigh a ton and not fit in the fridge either;)

  6. The kettle in the cabin and the mature attitude towards alcohol - both in their pricing and personal consumption - are the main reasons we continue to cruise with P&O (the other is the absence of the enforced gratuity each time you purchase a glass of wine, etc). Small things they may seem, but as always in life, the devil is in the detail.

Incidentally, re: boxes of wine, it's possible to find 2.25 litres now which is 3 bottles; and M&S do a 1.5 litre pouch which is handy to squeeze into a tight space in a suitcase.

We live in the South of France and can buy 10 litre boxes of wine from our local wine merchants , wonder if I could carry one of those on LOL:p

  7. Thank you again

We are tendering in Boracay and not sure if the ship is anchored off Boracay mainland or the island which is where we want to be for the beaches and a sea walk experience and just need to know how quickly we could get off the ship as to what time to book the sea walk for
