  1. You will want the life vest. It’s a strong current.
  2. That’s awesome! Hopefully you also got some “wink wink” lol
  3. You do have a life jacket you use. They insist on it actually. I even held on to the life preserver that was tied up off the back of the boat so that I could stay in one place and put my mask in the water to see everything.
  4. Our flight ended up being delayed and we arrived in Galveston much later than expected. We ended up going to The Spot and had a great burger.
  5. “Sir, we would like to discuss your car’s extended warranty with you”.
  6. I often wonder how ticked the audience would be if someone decides to take the first offer. Lol. There would hardly be any winners from the audience then.
  7. I do play the slots. Not enough money to get offered a free cruise though. That is great for your Mom! I’m glad to hear someone is winning.
  8. The way I look at it, a couple bucks on lottery ticket can win a million. $25 each card, 2 for $40 or 3 for $50 cards for deal or no deal might help you break even or a little better. For me, the fun was sucked out once you realize the cards are stacked against you. At least when I play the lottery I know I have better odds of getting struck by lightning. 🤪
  9. If people want to attend and buy the stuff, knock yourself out. I don’t think they should be kicking people out of venues that are being used however. Ah, nobody is paying for anything in the library so let’s kick them out and use that room. I was about halfway through a 500 piece puzzle so I’m a little salty. There was a group of four ladies working on another that had to break it all up and box it as well.
  10. I also love that the prizes you win, with the exception of cash, are giving it right back to them. Plus the additional hope you might just drop a little more of your money in the casino or to buy more bingo cards. Make all the prizes either cash on your sign and sail card or the free cruise.
  11. Last week the two on-stage winners walked away with about $117 and under $20. I don’t recall the exact amount but those figures are about right. One person won $200 in one game and I believe the first game there was a $100 winner in the audience. The people on the stage of course have the best chance in play. Those of us with cards that have to “match” their suitcases is a joke. On stage there is only one suitcase with each monetary amount but our cards have multiple duplicates of the same amount.
  12. Neither my partner of myself have special needs so I am not sure what you are referring to.
  13. Can someone please, for the love of all that is Holy, please remind me on my next cruise to keep my money for other things. After not learning, the first, second or third cruise to stop making donations, I fell for the hype and did it again. "Now let's see who has won prizes!" Well, of course the lady who had three matches is now the only person to have 4 matches. Nobody won the big prizes in either game? That's a shock. Why does my game board have 4 $25.00 denominations to match when there is only one for the contestant on stage. Ah....I get it Curious, has anyone, or know of anyone that won the free cruise bingo or the $5000 jackpot bingo? Asking for a friend.
  14. For any that are wondering Manawakie park is definitely not accessible. There was lots of uneven ground, steep hill climb, and wood/gravel stairs.
  15. Uber is normally very reliable and I have used that rideshare in other ports and cities without issue. Private transfer shuttles and such are not without their own issues. Waiting around for the last few passengers while others were on time. Etc. We had more than enough time to account for a delay due to the passenger requests. It was a cluster of one failed attempt after another.
  16. In July we had TJ the cruise director on the Sunshine. He has said he is moving to The Vista in March 2023 I believe. He is originally from Houston so quite excited about Galveston. He was fantastic. A real hype man. Everywhere on the ship and always 'on'
  17. Out of the many, MANY, I have asked, one couple knew friends of friends that had bought a piece of art on a cruise ship years ago. The couple said they only bought the art for the free cruise. My reply was "well it wasn't exactly a free cruise now was it?" Apparently the art was destined for the summer yard sale line-up. On the Vista, the line up for the comedy show in the Limelight lounge is outside where the walls are lined with various art selections. I wish I could repeat some of the art 'interpretations' I heard by some of the passengers waiting in line. It could have become a third act in the comedy line-up.
  18. Let me update you all about LEAVING the terminal at Galveston. What a mess! Immediately after coming out the terminal I used the app for a Lyft driver to the airport. After 15m they still had not found a driver so I decided to cancel that. Who knew how far away the driver would be once they actually located one. We decided to ask where Uber picks up. Not too far away so we hauled our luggage across the street by the Railroad Museum. Called an Uber. App said 4 minutes. Driver messages me after 15m wait and says I am dropping cruise passengers off and then I will make my way to you. No dice: we have a plane to catch. Cancel that. Request a ride for another Uber. Says it is 7 minutes away. We then watch the driver get further and further away. 7m goes to 9, 10, 11. Where is this driver going? Had to cancel that one. By now our window is shrinking. Rapidly. We had two and nearly a half hours to get to Hobby originally. Our flight left at 12:30. We were out of the terminal by 9:45. After a few more cancelled Uber rides because the original wait time doubled or tripled, we finally got one. It was 11:17. We made it to Hobby by 12:00 and had to book it through check in and security. The drivers were accepting rides while still having passengers in their cars and were not accounting for traffic and congestion in that area. I expect to have to wait longer because it was a busy area. But don’t show me my wait time is 5m and it suddenly becomes 20. One of the drivers I was waiting on, messaged me and asked me to please cancel because he had accepted another. Fine, I did. I then get a message from Uber telling me I owed him $5.68 cancellation fee for his time. He told me to cancel! I got a hold of them and told them they can refund that right back to me. I don’t know what happened yesterday morning but it was a circus.
  19. The piano bar always had a crowd and appeared to be quite jovial whenever I walked by.
  20. Do they really sell that much? It seems like it is on the “what’s happening” everyday. It’s always using some space or venue up. I ask people we chat with if they ever attend and I’m always told no. So, who is attending and buying this art? Obviously someone is. Our last sea day I was in the library along with numerous other passengers aboard the Vista. The room was filled with families playing games, some doing crossword puzzles or reading, and a number of groups working on puzzles -myself included. A crew member came in and announced the library was closed. It was about 3:15 and she said it closed at 3:00. It wasn’t posted, so nobody knew. She said they had to set up for an art auction. I silently rolled my eyes to myself and thought “another”. Anyway, we all had to leave. I checked the hub app to see that the auction was at 7:00pm. 4 hours to set up?? Why not have it in the conference room I never saw being used? I just find it strange. Am I the only one ?
  21. Not that I noticed. Only there a couple times, but never saw any food.
