  1. thanks for the very clear guidance.  i was super confused before and i had returned my pre-purchase internet.  i have added it back because i do not have status minutes yet.

for my 5 day cruise, the 1 device price was $44.95 US with the 50% discount advertised in the cruise personalizer.

  2. is there anywhere at the front of this ship to observe?  i've only been on grand class and they had the nice observation area at the front of the ship above the bridge.

also do they still do the ship tour?  i'm wondering if the ship tour on a bigger ship would be more interesting?

The new Medallion Class app is now available in the Google Play Store.  It replaces the five clumsy apps they put out before.  Nice looking but not useful just yet as we are still four months out.  As I understand it, I can't link up our booking until we are within 60 days.  Is that what others have found?

as far as i can tell, the medallion class app is just a wrapper that will call up each app from 1 interface.  you still need to have the other apps installed.

  4. i do love the still water on ship and will drink tat, but i do bring on some sparkling water for variation.  i usually put it in a small roller by itself.  this then allows for me to have room when i leave as somehow what i pack going there multiples even though i really don't buy much on the cruise.

i will admit, i am local to port, so weight and number of bags is not an issue,

  5. and not all agencies have the same deals.  i had been using one, but i price matched with a different one and found a better deal.  in fact i had perks i didn't even realize as they threw in a specialty dining experience.

now i've never had something with so much onboard credit, but i do tend to go on the shorter cruises and in balcony cabins.

i will say one benefit i had, and this is likely unique to those of us who live in or near the port town, is that by booking directly, they contacted me directly for a move over offer.  we were able to do this because we just picked a cruise randomly to get out of town.  you will see all kinds of threads on the forums about people missing move over or upgrades via their big box agency because they don't pass onthe offers.

  6. i'd bring my own if you can get to a store on the way to the ship.  i'm spoiled, i live near port, so i just bring a case of sparkling water with me.

also i had no idea tonic water had a diet version, so i learned something, thanks.  i don't particularly like tonic water, so it never occurred to me it had sugar.  i thought it was just carbonated water with quinine added.  i'm still somewhat confused by the different between seltzer and sparkling water, but now i know why tonic is different!

So far in my experience, everything has exceeded expectations when walking in with CC influenced expectations.

i find many of the complaints on the forum amusing.  we truly enjoy going on ship and comparing it to the complaints and laughing.  the epic butter thread was my absolute favorite.  i even took a picture of the butter station and signage while on a kitchen tour. it does shock me sometimes what people complain about.  i guess i'm more of a self contained cruiser and do'nt expect some things that others do.

the only ship on a cruise i have taken so far i have not enjoyed was not a princess ship.  i really did not care for the garish carnival boat i was on. it was like a mardi gras nightmare with neon everywhere, and then there was the abundance of naked lady sphinxes.  i'm no prude, so it wasn't the nudity that offended me, it was th tackiness and excessive displays.

i thought the showers on the star were disappointing.  that's about the worst i can say for a princess ship so far.  i'm about to experience the royal in a month and a half.

We are on the Caribbean now. The rate was better booking on board. Can use 4 devices, only 1 on line at a time for the $9.99/day.

are you elite or not?  i just bought the 1 devide for $9, but if i can get the 4 device for $9 on board i will cancel.

  9. all of the above.  on the ruby, the line started outside the dining room on deck 6, they handed out slips of paper with a number on them.  they called a range of numbers.  i think we waited 20 minutes for our number to be called.  on the ruby, they were handing out cookies and sandwiches while you waited.  but no drinks, they wanted you to buy their bottled water

  10. just off the ruby, i still love her.

speaking to the point that 2 people can have very different cruises, the last night I went tot he bathroom near the aft dining room, which i didn't even know existed even though i've always had this as my dining room.  one stall had an issue.  some lady had turned to me and complained "everything on this ship is falling apart and doesn't work"  i wish i had the though to ask her for an itemized list.  aside from this one stall in a public restroom, i had not noticed anything being broken.  in fact, we kept commenting on how shiny and new everything looked after dry dock. even the muts screen, wasn't awful, yes some wonky pixels, but it did not stop us from enjoying several movies.  i'm wondering if she considered "broken" usual maintenance, like closing the promenade for tender upkeep or painting the rails.

also loved the chili cheese fries and pizza on the lido.  the california toast was also quite nice, the combo of guac and feta was really delicious.

  11. no tv show on demand seemed to have more than 5 episodes on the ruby last week.  live tv was just news channels and espn.  it was kind of disappointing at the lack of live tv options.  there was quite a few shows to choose from, mostly from discovery or animal planet, and some recentish movies.  i was sad the one movie we started watching in the princess theater one day but couldn't finish because we had to get to the wine tasting was never on demand.  the MUTS movies seemed to go on demand the next day.

the thing that really annoyed me was  a lack of sleep timer on the tv.

  12. i have some magnetic hooks and some felt garlands i picked up a few years ago.  looks cute and slightly festive.

i also have fairy lights, but usually i wrap those around the antlers i wear and not decorate the room with me 😄

  13. 2 shrimp cocktails and a soup are pretty typical for me

    🙂

on the flip side, one day i was feeling a little ill and only wanted a baked potato for my mains, and this concerned the guys and they really tried to bring me more food.  but when i was suffering from the after effects of my migraine, i couldn't handle anything but soup and baked potato.  the medication i take really affects my appetite.

  14. there is a setting in some print dialogs, something along the lines of "shrink to fit," "set margins," or "print actual size"  it can be labeled differently depending on context, but that could be why the tags are printing a little smaller

  15. i'm staying at the pike, but i'm taking the blue line to long beach and don't have to worry about my car.

if you are staying in long beach and your port is long beach and not san pedro, then look at the long beach passport.  it is a free bus service that drops you off in the parking lot of the queen mary/cruise port, and it is a short walk across the parking lot to the porters.

  16. the one time i had a super forward cabin, we also skirted a tropical storm and it triggered a migraine.  so i can't tell if it was the migraine or the forward cabin that caused the seasickness.

i've been on a cruise several times since and have always had aft cabins.  i do like being at the back of the boat better.

  17. i'im northeast of downtown and this is a shot from scholl canyon, one of the mountaintop parks in glendale.

probably 8-10 miles north (13 by car with lots of twists and turns)

normally i can see downtown very clearly from this spot.
