  1. well now i am in a pickle. bf's birthday is during the cruise, and the restaurants are marked as a la carte. we were planning on eating in the main dining room except on his birthday.

i'm wondering how expensive the a la carte prices are and if it is better to get the package.

  2. sour cream is something i am sure is on the ship and they should be able to source it for you. if you are at a specialty restaurant, you can give them a heads up so they can have some ready for your reservation.

but i would expect if steak is on the menu so is baked potatoes and those generally have sour cream as a topping.

  3. If I remember right the rolls weren’t all that fabulous either.

Brazilian rolls are not typical bread like diner rolls in america, they are made form tapioca flour. i know this because my gluten intolerant friend can eat and loves the cheese bread from the Brazilian restaurant. they can be a bit gummy because of the tapioca and cheese, so if you aren't expecting that, it can be weird and you might think the rolls are underdone.

they are called Pão de Queijo if you want to look them up.

  4. while i haven't seen the for the record on the ship, i have seen it several times in los angeles, several of the shows including the john huges one, and it is fun.

basically, it is a loose story told by the songs from the movie, it jumps between movies.

if you liked the movies and songs from the movies, you will like this. it is very fun to watch.

  5. The SS Norway was a favorite of ship lovers, in a similar class as the Cunard QE2....so anything associated with it is highly collectible...

i feel lucky my first cruise was on norway, my best friend and i had an awesome time.

I have been collecting the NCL pins for years, both from on the ships and from ebay. It is important to note that there are three different varieties of pins through the years. The first batch were square, or rectangular in shape. The second were round and the third kind (the best in my opinion) are oval with a design that is from the bow of the ship. Make sure you know which version you are purchasing as each of the ships have three variations of lapel pins out there. I have my pins on a pin board hanging up on my living room wall and consists of some of their old ships and the current ships. I am still missing a few, however.

great to know! i will keep looking out for pins form the ships i want and keep in mind the differences.

  6. In November, we took the NCL bus to the port and a taxi from the port to the airport. The taxi was much more convenient and you take $2.70 off of the $27 if you pay in cash.

what about the ncl bus was not good? i was pondering doing the ft lauderdale transfer in january.

  7. I always say "If you want to know where there is free WiFi in any port ask a crew member", they know.

I wonder how people got on with the Sun going to South America on the inaugural run; the crew wouldn't know!!

It will be the same with the opening of the Asia cruises too.

only of if it is a new port* or new to cruising person, it isn't like the wi-fi spots only work for certain boat's crew.

    * i am unfamiliar with this particular cruise so maybe it is new ports

  8. I thought that, if you had cruised once with NCL, you were automatically joined to Latitudes.

I suggest that you sign in to MyNCL, or "join" MyNCL and then check what it says about your Latitude situation.

i thought so too but it can't find my account, and being my last cruise on them was so long ago, i doubt they will give me credit.
