  1. i think the op was on the cruise after, not the one returning late.  but in any case, it's easy to be rude online, i do truly hope they weren't rude on ship. it is an inconvenience for sure, but you may have to rebook or change your plans, but someone else is having a way worse time having a medical issue.  i would hope if i am ever in that situation i could look past my inconvenience and think kindly about the person who needs help.

  2. everyone on that sailing of the grand must have been "great" company as i have seen several negative posts(not all here) about the grand leaving late and no remorse when it is mentioned they arrived and left late due to a medical emergency.  i'm not saying i wouldn't be peeved if i wasn't able to board and get my lunch inthe main dining room and unpack before muster, but i know i would have totally forgotten it by day two and have been thrilled being on a cruise.  especially once i learned why the boat was delayed.    i feel like the people complaining about this are the kind that zoom around people pulling to the side of the road for emergency vehicles.

i feel bad for the crew it these people were as sour on the cruise as they are posting about it online.

  3. giving others unsolicited medical advice when you are not their doctor is not a good idea.

i was taught perfume is for me and shouldn't be normally smelled by others, and certainly shouldn't linger when i leave. i wish more people had that understanding as well. i wear perfume and perfume oils but i make sure its not a cloud around me and you should only smell it if i invite you into my personal space. i've lately been using a scent locket, which doesn't seem to be overpowering to others, but i also only put a drop of oil in the wool pad and do not soak it.

  4. i'm clearly exhausted and ready for my cruise in may because i kept reading this as clown shoes.

i prefer sitting at the rail in the middle and on the aisle, so i aim for 20 minutes before and i'm usually able to score a seat i'm happy with.

  5. i adore my keen sandals for water stuff.  they are not cheap, but if you stalk rei or ross/marshalls/nordstrom rack you can usually find them at a decent price.  they have a good closed toe and dry fast, good arch support.  i use them for mild hiking in the park near my house.

i will say, they will get sand in them if you are walkign across dryu sand, but they are swell for actually being wet or water parks

  6. i've  been suffering with plantar fasciitis, and practically the only shoes that don't cause me pain are my keen sandals, so i wear those.  i have an all black pain, and no one has ever said a thing to me.  i do have some voinic sandals for this next cruise, good arch and heel support and are likely more traditionally acceptable.

  7. please be careful of stigmatizing people who cough.  there are plenty of reasons people may cough that are not infectious such as allergies and various respiratory diseases.  sure some people you see coughing are sick, but others, like  me, have bad allergies which cause me to cough and tear up and no matter how much i cough on you, you can't catch my allergic reactions to pollen, cleansers, and dust.

  8. yeah, i don't play to win.  i play to exercise my brain and groan at the bad jokes.  its a fun community activity.  last time on the royal, we kept sitting in the same area and so did some  ladies, and we loosely became a team.  other people seem to take it too seriously for a crappy bag  or keychain

  9. eh, i expected alaska to cost a lot because it's remote.  we paid the premium for a balcony because this is likely our one time, but also because dad retired and this is his celebration.

until we collectively in all countries vote out politicians who skew the economies for business owner profits and stop de-prioritizing  social services, schools, education, and healthcare, homelessness is a problem everywhere.  if you choose not to see it, that really is on you.countries who do prioritize social services, schools, education, and healthcare have a good quality of living and lower homelessness.

my question is a 7 day doesn't seem like a vacation to me, it just seems exhausting with ports every day and no actual relaxing.  this is why we did the rt from la. (rhetorical, not trying to derail this thread.  i know that is what people want so they keep programming it.  same thing happens in carribbean. )

  10. i just posted on a different thread with questions about the hawaii rt from san pedro, and i highly recommend one with elua on there.

i've yet to be on a HAL, i've heard that is skews older and with less night life, and while i am noght the night owl i like to think i am, i enjoy having things like MUTS and bars open so if i do feel like being up late there is still stuff

  11. ah, but perhaps ask onboard if they charge tax while in port, you may want to wait to buy it at dinner once you have sailed away so you aren't charged port taxes on the package.  it seems the implementation of taxing on drinks or packages while still in port is not consistent according to posts i've seen on this forum. so you won't be able get a definitive response here, but ask before buying onboard,

Boarding times are just a suggestion I usually get to the port around 11 a.m. with the medallion cruises boarding is usually quick.  Regarding teas hot tea bags are available in the buffet area for no extra charge including herbal.  Also at the specialty coffee shop you can purchase some hot teas I believe is the stash brand name.  You can also order hot tea in mdr and room service.  Princess ships also have a daily tea in a mdr each day from 3 to 4 p.m. which includes little sandwiches and scones and other desserts.

maybe it depends on where you cruise, but on my west coast our of san pedro princess cruises, the IC was servicing mighty leaf brand teas, and the buffet and MDR has bigelow for most of the various teas, and some lipton and possibly one other.  but honestly i drink the bigelow orange and lemon like it's going out of style, so i don't know the other varieties.  it is not unusual for me to drink 2 big pots of orange tea during dinner.

  13. agree it can vary, but i have experienced at least 2 trivia's a day on all of my princess cruises.  the hawaii roundtrip should have some enrichment activities including hula, ukulele, lei making (ribbon and flower, these "sell out quick so look for them in patter), and port lectures.  we were on with elua, and they were delightful.  they post their schedule on the forum usually, so maybe look to see if they will be on your cruise.

  14. last time, as we had no flight to catch because we live near the port, we were assigned to self disembark and keep our luggage.  i'm not going to do that again. it was impossible to catch a lift down, and we struggled with our luggage down the stairs.  this time i'm going to make sure we get assigned a luggage tag

I would highly recommend the Auberge Saint - Antoine Hotel. I would also make a reservation for their restaurant for dinner it is amazing an the will be booked up most nights.  The hotel is literally across the street from the dock. We easily walked from the ship to the hotel with our luggage. Rooms are nice and spacious. Also had a very nice bar.

View from our window of the ship.

i can second this.  even the bar/restaurant in the lobby was great.  and the breakfast buffet is totally worth it.  i got upgraded to a terrace suite last time and it was nice, even in December with snow i went out every morning for a few minutes of fresh air.

i can also recommend the PUR in st roch area, a short uber to port, but puts you right in a nice shopping/restaurant nightlife district.

First drink (ordered through Ocean Now) was free on the Regal as well.

Sadly, I didn't get mine. I submitted an order whilst sitting in Club 6 but after 40 mins, the status of my order was still just "submitted". Had to move on so I cancelled the order. Once you do that, you don't get the freebie back.

Oh well. I make the mistakes so that you don't have to! 🙂

we had an issue with our first on on the royal, the waiter came by, we all said we ordered from the app, he looked confused went and checked, it wasn't showing the the bartender, so they made our drinks while futzing with the system. eventually they sorted it out

  17. i didn't notice any issue with the balcony on the royal.*shrug* i sat out there every day and knitted.  always would love more space, but i think some of the negativity to the balcony is exaggerated.

i'm really intrigues by the way celebrity edge has changed their balcony and might seek to try that out at some point.
