I requested a refund for my April cruise April 13th and my June cruise May 7th and of course have not received anything. I cancelled my September cruise a couple weeks ago and just received my deposit refunded to me today. It seems they can pay those much faster??
-
I always used the NCL Mastercard but in the future I will use my American Express also.

Yes, I requested a refund for both my April and June cruises. The FCC remains showing on my account. I figure it will go away once the refund is sent.

I called Bank of America which branded my NCL Mastercard and they said it would take at least 60 days to get anything back and NCL would probably get the money to me faster?? Also, they cannot restore my points I used for an upgrade because they are working remotely at NCL. Maybe when they get back to the office the refunds will come faster.
-
I called and they said they could not do it because they are working remotely. They said when they get back to the office they would be able to do it. Another thing to wait for.

We had booked for April (canceled) but they did change the drink package to include everyone adult in the cabin on that cruise on the Breakaway.

I disputed a cancelled cruise with Amex on 4/14/20. They refunded the entire amount in 2 days and my money was back in my checking account on 4/20. I don't understand what people are waiting for.
Is there any penalty from NCL for disputing the amount?

If you are in the UK your country has laws that actually protect consumers. In the US, not so much.
Has anyone in the US successfully disputed with the CC company?

I am not sure about the insurance (I am guessing no for that), but all the others you tell them no service was provided. It can be done in one single call.
What kind of insurance are you talking about, cancellation insurance?
I had the NCL Platinum insurance. I don't think that covers if they cancel? I really do not understand how that works, but I heard that if they cancel you cannot use the insurance because they are giving you a refund. So I guess it would come into play if I do not get my refund, but I did not apply for that refund until May 7th, so I wont' know until August 7th for sure.

I was considering calling my credit card company, but for both of my cancelled cruises I have several charges. First, my deposits, then my payments and then extras like shore excursions, insurance and add-ons. Do I have to dispute every charge individually?
-
I started this topic to monitor if anyone received a refund from a cruise that was cancelled by NCL and waited to for refund form and requested a refund. So far now one.

How is it possible that no one has gotten any refunds? Are they all just processed and NCL holding the money until the last min. to release all at the same time?
-
I filled out one April 13th and another May 7th. If it really is just taking so long due too the amount of refunds, shouldn't they start trickling out? I mean they should have gotten at least a few done since March?
-
They keep saying it is taking so long because there are so many refunds to process. If that were true some people should have at least started to receive funds

Today is day 30 of my 90 day wait for my April Cruise. Nothing yet. 60 days to go.

Nope, for the whole time only two cruise lines employed "no Chinese on board" method, NCL and RCL. Other cruise lines like Disney and carnival didn't discriminate against Chinese. In those cruise lines it was well accepted that anyone, no matter your nationality, who went to China, HK, Macau for the 30 days (or 90 days) before boarding date cannot be allowed on board. This ruled out many Chinese, but didn't discriminate against us. You could be American and still be denied boarding because you travelled to Asia.
Just think about it, even the crew members who works on board the whole time had to immediately get off the ship if they hold Chinese passports. So disgusting.
I will stay away from NCL and RCL in the future.
For your own situation, my suggestion is to take FCC, because refund process makes your life miserable, not worth it. For every phone call I had, it took 1.5hours. And for the first few days after knowing the policy, I couldn't work just to think of how stupid I am to pay $4000 just to get discrimination. Best off for you to still sail when it is safe to do so. I will fight for my refund, and use that money to purchase cruise of other companies.
I'm sorry, I had no idea that other lines had a different policy. That is unacceptable. Many mistakes were made.

OK, I'll be the different one. I found the port of NOLA to be congested and disorganized. Port Canaveral is very organized and a breeze from parking to boarding. Also, with the exception of the food (which was amazing), I found NOLA to be dirty, over crowded and unsafe. But just my opinion.

I haven't received refund to the cancellation request made on February 7th. On that date, I was denied by their "NO CHINESE NATIONAL ON BOARD" policy. Any person who holds a Chinese/HK/Macau passport are not allowed on board regardless of residency, including guests and crew members. This lasted for about 10days, and my sail date was Feb 15th. So I was denied as a permanent resident in Canada who haven't been to China in years.
They sent me confirmation email on Feb 10th saying cancellation confirmed and refund will be back to my credit card within 7 days. No money on the 8th day, I called again they said oh they meant 7 to 10 business days after the disembarkation date (Feb22nd). Waited another 10days still no refund, I called again and they said please wait another 2 weeks.
No money back and I called again just before the pandemic declared, they said oh the accounting department has sorted out, I will have 4 multiple payments back to my account, each detailed to the $.01 and they add up to the $3906 CAD I paid for my cruise fare, and I will for SURE receive all of them on April 1st.
I was such an April fool! Called again and the response is that any person who have not yet received refund after March 18th (no matter when you applied for refund), will receive refund within the 90 days after March 18th. And don't call again before that date because there is no more information. So the previous phone call about the accounting department was all BS.
I am in the process of searching for legal advise now. I need my money back from this company who discriminates and lies. I highly doubt you could get refund after 90days, you better opt for the FCC. I wish to go on a cruise again after COVID19 settles, but I can't go with NCL because it hates all Chinese, that's why I must get my money back.
This is very discouraging. This gives me even less hope of getting my refunds timely. I cannot speak for NCL but regarding "hates all Chinese" I thought that was because ports would not let ships in if they had anyone with a Chinese passport on board. Many mistakes were made and incorrect assumptions. I hope we can all cruise again soon.

I did that application for a refund on April 15. I'm just trying to give them a reasonable time to process the refund, which I think is 30 days.
I'm hopeful but I don't think 30 days is possible. That is why I started this topic, too see if anyone that requested in March from NCL cancelled cruises received any money yet, and so far no.

Most of us will vote with our feet, which are never stepping on another NCL cruise again..
If I get my refunds as requested and on time, I’ll remain a loyal NCL customer. These are unprecedented times and every company has struggled to adapt.

I got seven (7) emails telling me they got my refund request?
-
This is so strange. I used the link to cancel for the lesser amount and it took me to a customer service page. I filled it out but it did not say cancellation page. It was more of a comment page. It had a place for comments so I typed in request for refund. I waited and did not get an automated response like I did for may April cruise, so I came to CC boards to see what everyone else did. Seems like everyone got different links??? I used the link offered on this page and got the same page that I got in April and put in my cancellation. I really hope these are human errors and not trickery.

My March 14 cruise was canceled late on the 13th. We were already in place to board. I applied for a refund the first morning I was allowed, March 23rd. No refund yet. I'm still within their 90 days I was told I may have to wait.
I did get a refund for my shore excursions. I canceled those on March 10th. I was told 1-2 weeks. After three weeks I called and asked again about the refund. I was told to expect 30 business days. This refund did arrive a week or so after I called.
I did not think of cancelling my shore excursions prior to NCL canceling. That may have been a better idea. Thank you. I am hopeful.

I do not have insurance for my April cruise but I do for my June cruise. I did see this news item but it did not say they were not paying refunds. Even if they file bankruptcy they could still pay out refunds.

It will be on the NCL main page. You will only need your reservation number and date of sailing. Everyone on that reservation will be refunded to the card on file. You should receive an email confirming refund requested. Just a generic email. I got 7 emails but some got more.
