  1. We are typically carribbean cruisers who are used to getting a taxi from the cruise port & going off to the beaches & shopping. After reading all the posts we agree that we may need to rent a car especially for Maui & Kauai & maybe Hilo. It looks like most of the rental companies are at the airport, so Im assuming they have a shuttle that picks you up at the pier & bring you to the airport to get your car. With that said, POA has 2 overnights both in Maui & Kauai so if I was to rent a car overnight where do I park it? Are there any costs involved for parking? Once I park the car, how do I get back to the pier is it within walking distance? Lastly, once you bring the car back to the rental agency at the airport, does the car rental place bring you back to the pier for free or is this another expense by way of taxi?

  2. Wanted to post this question under Pride of America forum, but there was no New Thread button for me to post. Does anyone know if there are any formal nights, by that I mean they used to have something like filet mignon as one formal & lobster as the second when I sailed Norwegian in the past. Trying to pick specialty restaurants. If so can tell me what nights they have them if they still do?

  3. I called Verizon (Internat'l Support dept) about the Travel Pass and they informed me that it will not work on my flip phone as mine is not a smart phone. They mentioned to me that my flip phone is on a different signal than the smart phones. When I asked if I could just use my flip phone and pay as you go, they told me that wont work either because its the signal thats used on my flip phone. The rep told me that short of buying a smart phone, they could send me a loaner phone for $19.95 for the month which would be a smart phone, then I could pay as you go $.50 to sent a text, $.05 to receive a text and phone calls @ $1.79 per minute, or I could get the Travel Pass for the $10.00.

  4. I read an article a few months back that said Carnival was disallowing passengers to bring their own bottled water & soda on board. Does anyone know if RCCL has changed their policy as well? Every year we cruise RCCL, and I bring my own water & soda on board. In fact at RCCL's own Puerto Rico Port they have a small store to purchase water & soda to bring onboard

  5. DH & I booked a 5 day cruise a month ago sailing this Sept & had to make final payment at the time we booked. We wanted to go cheap & booked an inside guaranteed cabin. Within 1 day my room was automatically upgraded to a large inside cabin. Two days ago I noticed my original guaranteed inside cabin was down in price by quite a bit & that the next category Guaranteed Oceanview was only an additional $13.00 ($6.50 pp) total for the entire trip. I called my travel agent who called RCCL & I paid the $13.00. I was pleasantly surprised to find out today that my guaranteed Oceanview room was upgraded to a full window view (no porthole view). Belonging to a website that emails you when the prices go up & down is a real blessing as I dont have the time to always monitor & this has saved me hundred of dollars over the last 6 years..

  6. We typically cruise to carribean in August and weather is hot, so we are used to only bringing shorts. We will be on Grandeur last week in September 2016 and not sure of the air & water temperatures. Dont want to pack pants if all we will need are shorts.

  7. Thanks for the info, I never said in my original post that I would not consider an AI beach club, I'm keeping all options open as I am not familiar with any AIs in Cozumel. Some research I did mentioned more expensive AIs, such as Cozumel El Cid & Iberostar. I don't know if there are any advantages in going to a more expensive AI than Nachi Cocom. I would be happy with Nachi if there is no real difference other than the price. Has anyone been to Nachi and other AIs to compare too?

  8. We want to get a day pass to an AI in Cozumel for our August cruise, w/out going through RCCL. Looking for something that has a pool, beach, food, and unlimited alcohol. Can anyone provide some good recommendations and if possible what we can expect to pay. Also, are the day passes booked directly through the resort or an outside vendor? t

  9. We will be taking one of the recommended by CC transport services from a hotel in Miami to Ft Lauderdale cruise port in August, then on the return from the Ft Lauderdale port to Miami Airport. This will be a shared shuttle. The cost is $56, and $60.00 for the 2 of us. When they quoted the price, the company made a note that the gratuity was not included. Any clue how much to tip?

  10. Our Oasis Cruise departs out of Fort Lauderdale in August 2015, but better airline times favor landing in Miami. So we will arrive in Miami and stay at a Miami hotel. We need a shuttle from Miami hotel to FLL cruise port & then on the way back a shuttle from FLL cruise port to Miami airport. We tried SAS but they do not make either stop due to permit restrictions. Can anyone recommend inexpensive shuttle transportation. Its just the 2 of us.

  11. I have never left from Fort Lauderdale before, so I'm not familiar. We will need a one night stay pre-cruise in August 2015. I have seen many posts for Embassy Suites, and Hyatt Place. Can you book either of these for just one night? I see Embassy offers free breakfast does Hyatt Place? Are either of them close to a beach. We will arrive the Friday before cruise around 12:00 PM, and were not sure what to do on Friday.

  12. I will be traveling on this same itinerary in 2 weeks. Question though another poster who traveled this same itinerary on July 12, 2014 mentioned on a recent thread that RCCL switched ports and that Curacao was Day 5, and Aruba Day 6. Our scheduled itinerary is suppose to be Aruba Day 5, and Curacao Day 6. Can you confirm your ports for Day 5 & Day 6 for me?
