  1. Was wondering about guests getting notification from the cabin upgrade ferry, and I decided to sign in to my RCCL acct & look at my RCCL personal profile. Under my upgrade preferences section, I noticed it was completely left blank. It has many choices such as "I prefer an automatic upgrade", I want an upgrade but have restrictions", etc. So I was wondering do you have to have any of those preferences checked in order for the upgrade ferry to call you? And what would happen if I checked the box that said, "I prefer an automatic upgrade", and an upgrade became available would they contact me to let me know what the upgrade is maybe the upgraded cabin is in a less desirable part of the ship and I would rather keep my existing cabin or would they just upgrade me and give me no choice. Just wondering if it is wise to go in and update the information on my profile.

  2. Mandm, Thanks so much for the info on formal night. One more add'l question if I may. You mentioned they switched the Curacao to (Day 5) and Aruba (Day 6) days on your itinerary. Did they tell you of the switch in ports once on the ship or notify you in advance of your cruise, and did they tell you the reason?. Wondering if they have now changed the itinerary going forward. Reason being, I was planning on eating at a restaurant in Aruba, but if formal night is scheduled for Day 5 (Aruba for us), hubby rather eat on ship. However, if they have now changed the scheduling of the ports and Aruba is day 6 than we can eat in Aruba.

  3. I'm cruising on Jewel of Seas to Southern Caribbean next month, taking itinerary from Puerto Rico traveling to St Thomas, St,Kitts, Aruba, & Curacao. Unable to find recent cruise compass for this itinerary telling me which nights are formal nights. Trying to make specialty restaurant reservations but don't want a conflict with formal night. Can anyone assist who has taken this Jewel itinerary with the formal nights?

  4. My Boyfriend & I are taking RCCL Jewel of the Seas 3rd week August 2014. Boyfriend's back gave way 2 weeks ago (degenerative disk problem), which may require surgery, not sure yet. We both have trip insurance. However, boyfriend does not want me to cancel, and he wont know for sure if he can go until a few weeks before we depart. Does anyone know if RCCL will allow my son to take my boyfriend's place. We could get a note from the Dr & there would be no change to the cabin. Anyone have experience with this & what would be the last date I could make this change with RCCL. Also, anyone know if I can do this on his airline ticket as it has been paid for as well. Thanks

  5. HI, we were suppose to visit Curacau 2 years ago but were derailed by Hurricane Irene & missed the port. At that time, we had a reservation for Breezes, that was an all inclusive. We are going back to Curacau in August 2014 & I was looking into this & found Breezes has closed but was taken over by Sunscape. Sunscape just sent me an email saying their daypass is $109.00 per person.

  6. The bus will let you off right in front of the Marriott, you cross the street and its right there, maybe 50-100 yards. There will be all those little palypa trees already set up with lounge chairs under them, a man will then come up to you & tell you its $25.00, no negotiating, I tried. The bus will then come back on its route and if it sees passengers waiting will stop. I would say the bus is a little inconsistent coming back, it generally runs every 30 minutes. We then went back to the ship showered & changed, & took the bus again, right past Eagle Beach & had a beautiful sun lit dinner on the beach at Passions, it was spectacular.

  7. We just got back from Eagle beach last week. The rental was $25.00 it was for 2 lounge chairs under a Palpaya tree. There is no negotiating, tried but it was $25.00 or nothing, it was worth the $25.00, beach and water was beautiful. We took the bus across the street from the cruise ship to get to Eagles Beach it is the L10, costs was $2.30 round trip per person to get to the beach.

  8. Hi Guys, I'm the poster to this thread, and just want to give you some add'l info. Summertime 2013 (July/August) is the only time we can go, and we wanted to avoid airfare, which means leaving from the New York Port. I know that limits us so we were thinking of the Carnival Splendor, which has 2 different itineraries depending on when you leave either 1) Grant Turk, Half Moon Cay, Nassau, or 2) San Juan, St. Thomas, Grand Turk. Doesn't really matter to us. I'm thinking maybe a suite will be too pricey, and maybe just 2 side by side balconies or a balcony with an inside accross the hall. Let me all know what you think and about the itineraries what you think my 3 boys would like better.

  9. Thank you all for your recent comments using Priceline. I just got the Radisson Ambassador for $75.00. I followed the suggestions regarding free bidding by picking another zone that you already know doesn't offer the star quality you want. I ended up picking 6 zones & only increasing my bid by $2.00 each time, until it finally said you won in San Juan which is of course the city I wanted all along.

  10. Posters have said the shopping is good in St. Thomas. I have never been there so I dont know what I would be shopping for. A friend went & told me to buy the Larimar jewelry as it is very pretty. I have no idea where to get the best bang for my buck. Any suggestions on anything to buy & where to get it?
