  1. Thanks for your report on Harbour Lights. We may consider it. Question about taxi fares: was the $5pp in USD or Barbadian dollars? Thanks, Bill
  2. Thank you for your report on Muara. We will be there in January 2024 and were looking for something to do there. There is a Tours by Locals person but is, IMO, very expensive. But I can see why if only three cruise ships call there each year. We will get off the ship and see what is going on. At least then we can also say we "ticked the ‘travelled to Brunei’ box ". LOL
  3. The baked potato is not what I would call a steakhouse baked potato. It is definitely not a shareable potato. Best if each of you get your own. Order a double serving of asparagus if you like asparagus. This is a seasonal vegetable so don't be disappointed if it not the best you ever had. You can order multiple sides if you wish. The filet is the best cut, IMO. Enjoy.
  4. Thanks for your response. I plan on reserving a car about one month out. That should be enough time to get an automatic, which is what I want. Debating insurance but will probably get it. Bill
  5. Thinking of renting from Jay's next month. Was there any particular paperwork needed, other than a valid drivers license, for example, insurance card, etc.?
  6. Does anyone know if Windstar provides distilled water for CPAP machines? Both my DW and I use the machines. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for your input. We are on a two-week sailing in the Caribbean, Barbados to Aruba. So, the weather will be, hopefully, a bit warmer. Bill
  8. Just hope it is not TOO crowded. We had no problems booking excursions with Windstar yesterday. It seemed that everything, tour wise, is available. Reading other reviews of the Pride on its' Iceland cruises, the ship was at capacity and the main restaurant was full very night and other venues were also.
  9. Is there any way to determine how many will be on the ship, e.g., Star Pride, before sailing? We are on the Pride from Nov. 18-Dec. 5, 2023. Thanks.
  10. Understood and yes, we (4 of us) are on this sailing from Barbados and we will continue on to Aruba. Hope we catch up at one of bars.
  11. Hamrag, are you referring to a White Night on Azamara or on the Star Pride? Asking because we are also on a November cruise on the Pride. Wouldn't want to attend in a different color! Bill
  12. But what is the best way to get there from the cruise port?
  13. We have a day in Barbados on Windstar turn around day. Is Bathsheba worth the effort to get there? If so, what is the best way to get there, taxi or car rental? Once there, what is there to do, walk the beach, eat lunch, etc.? Best place to have lunch is...? Any suggestions are appreciated. Bill
  14. I can see there are not enough bar stools at the bar in Martini's.
  15. Emily, thank you for your suggestions. Can you walk from the ship to these places? Are they near each other, in other words? I am not sure if we tender off the ship or not. Bill
  16. Not really my cup of tea! The DW might be interested however.
  17. I am always amazed at the different flavors of Lays potato chips overseas, especially in Europe. That beer looks delicious.
  18. I just think that ALL cruise ships should have at least one or two local beers on board, that is, in Greece, a few Greek beers or in the Caribbean, a few island beers. I can live without my favorite beer but like to taste/enjoy a local beverage. A part of traveling, as I am sure you are well aware, is trying new things, and that includes beer and wine. I am enjoying your ongoing review. I will be a first time WS cruiser and your insights, etc. are very helpful. Thank you.
  19. We will be in Melaka on the Oceania Riviera on Jan. 23, 2024. This is a replacement port for Yangon, Myanmar. To date, I cannot find anything interesting to do there. Our times there are 11 AM to 6 PM. Does anyone who has been there know of anything interesting to do there? Thanks, Bill
  20. Thank you for the live review. We will be on the Star Pride on Nov. 18-Dec.2 (Caribbean) of this year. I am sure, or someone can correct me, that the menus are basically the same for both ships. The wine list is interesting. The beer selection, not so much. I may have to bring my own beer on board.
  21. If, and you should, get a survey email from Enterprise Rental, tell them in detail what happened. A CSR will most likely call you and give you a pretty good credit for the cost of the rental. It happened to me and I was quiet pleased.
  22. Was the fire at the Damneon Saduak, the largest and most colorful floating market in the Kingdom of Siam? We have a tour that is supposed to go there in February 2024. Thanks.

    Myanmar

Well, at least they cancelled way before final payment for your cruise. The O Riviera cruise this Jan. 2024, Myanmar was not cancelled until last week, after final payment. Now, folks are hustling to get new excursions as some new ports were added, dates at ports changed, and, like Phuket, it is now an overnight. O could have done this months ago. Personally, disappointed we are not stopping in Yangon but the new ports are interesting.
