  1. Haha yea we know all about snow!:p being originally from upstate ny nothing really scares us lol I figured even if it was snowing the morning of, the farther we get south it should be better :)

Just keep in back of your mind. Last year the ice storm we got was in January (we were on the ship exactly 10 days b4 the storm hit and thanked our stars that we were not leaving on the day of the storm or would not have been able to drive from Myrtle to Charleston).

Also personally I love the Fantasy (been on her 5 times with 2 more scheduled - Jan. and March). She is old but, in my opinion, in great shape. I'm really looking forward to Little Stirup Cay this time (never been there).

  2. I was on here this past Jan and she was in great shape. I have 2 more trips planned (Jan and March).

I have only been on 1 other ship (Legend) and will be on Conquest in few weeks, but I LOVE the smaller ship. I don't need all the bells and whistles (I am not someone who will do a ropes course or anything like that. Give me a lounge chair, the water, and relaxation with some casino time and I am 1 happy cruiser.

  3. "I do order all at once but I do not see the extra trips as long as you order the entrée when they bring your app, etc."

The head waiter usually takes your order but the assistants will deliver the food alot of times. So it would take much more if they had to come back

  4. Yes you can use cash. I always use my card because then I charge all my sail and sign to my Carnival credit card and get the extra points. You will need your sign and sail card to get any money on the machine off though so you should probably set up your card the 1st day.

  5. There are many posts about the Fantasy embarkation issues. I have been on her 5 times with 2 more cruises booked. She is old but in great shape. The staff is great and never had any issues with them. The food is the same as other ships and I have never left hungry. I love HMC as a port and can't wait to go back but do remember that is a tender port and if the weather/seas are rough at all it will be cancelled.

The only balconies are suites, if you are interested in that, and they are small. It is a very easy ship to get around and know you will have a great time.

  6. Taking DD on much needed break on Fantasy 9/29. I've read through the last couple of years' posts on this thread and still need answers to a couple of questions.

Exactly what are the amenities in the bathroom?

Is there a regular plug at the desk area where I can plug in a power strip?

Have I understood correctly - we will get both a "room key thing" AND a cruise and sail card? If so, is the "room key thing" just another card or is it a regular key. Can the cards be punched?

    Appreciate any and all help.

The amenities vary by room depending on what they have in stock. As for room key - it is ur sign and sail card.

  7. I live outside of Charleston but we are driving to Jacksonville because the same cruise is $100 per person cheaper. I can't figure out why Charleston is so much more expensive. It's not the port taxes and Jacksonville also only has 1 older ship-Fascination. I don't mind the crummy building-although something newer would be nice-but I do mind the extra cost.

Yes Jacksonville only has 1 ship there but there are still many others in Florida so because of the choices the prices are cheaper. There is no other ship besides the Fantasy unless you go to Florida or up to Baltimore, NY, etc

  8. I have nothing against the Fantasy....Loved the ship. Just didn't care for the terminal. Cannot understand why some locals are complaining /fighting against a new terminal.

It's not the true locals but the notherners who moved their and pretend to be locals. the true locals want the ships. Charleston has ALWAYS been a port city.

  9. I've been out of Charleston 5x with 2 more booked. I actually like the embarkation as it goes fast (they only allow 1 bus at a time so lines are never long). Debarkation is sometimes a pain but I just wait until I'm kicked off and it's a breeze to get through.

I also could not imagine it out of Myrtle with the traffic that is already there especially in the summer.
