  1. Richie & Mary - No didn't really hear anything. Now my friend I was travelling with said that she overhead some older folk and they said it was a boy (well these ladies were well into their 70 maybe even 80) so boy could have been someone 50 to them. I feel for the family though.

Unc1acc - I have never had trouble with the embarkation (this was my 5th time). The 1st 4 we stayed in a hotel in Mt. Pleasant and the cab dropped us right where you get on the shuttle. This last time my dh drove my friend and I to the port and dropped us off. We were in line around 10:45, inside the building around 11:10, and they let us board at 11:30. By 11:45 I had my bowl of stir fry from the Mongolian Grill. Now the people driving themselves were waiting in line to enter the parking building when we past so not sure how long it took them. To enter at this port is different then most since you have to take the shuttle (it's just a temporary port) but it is nice as only about 40 or so people enter the building at a time which makes it easy to check in.

  2. With all these storms we have had across the states the last couple weeks the waters have been rockier than normal. I get on the Fantasy on Wed and hoping for good weather. I have cruised in Nov, Dec, and Feb with no issues just hoping no storms make it crazy out there.

Also when I come home I continue to take my meclazine (generic Bonine) for a couple days until I am sure I have my land legs back. It has always helped.

  3. I love your reviews! We are cruising on the Fantasy in January and I have read all 3 of your Fantasy reviews! I feel like I already know the ship and I haven't even stepped foot on it yet! I like your writing style so much, that when I saw you were writing another review, even though it's not on the Fantasy, I wanted to read it! You definitely keep your readers coming back! Thanks and Keep up the good work!! :)

Amy we will be on the same cruise. This will be my 5th time on the Fantasy.

  4. michelle1836, I had the wok everyday except debarkation day:eek: It was great. Watch out for the HOT stuff!:o it is smoking. I always have them mix the black bean and Thai so its not to hot. Port days there wasn't much of a line. Helpful hint, there is a top row of vegetables that some people miss:DPink

Ahhh come on Pink. Hot is good. lol. I always get the wok on embarkation day (since never a line - we get there early). The veggies on top are great but very hard to see for short people.

  5. we leave on the 14th and I am still having questions. One more please...... the safe in the grand suite, is it a number one or is it one that needs some kind of card with magnetic strip? If you need a card could you explain how it works?

Thanks for all the great answers you have all given.

I stayed in the jr. suite 2x and it had the number safe so pretty sure the grand would be the same

  6. I am not a big a big player in the casino (I play everyday but have to limit what I spend greatly). I have been on 4 cruises in last 2 1/2 years but I received a letter for casino rate on any cruise. It was such a great discount I booked one with a friend in Jan. when I thought it was over got another letter and booked another cruise with my mom and aunt for March. It was such an unexpected and nice surprise to be offered the better rate.

  7. I don't know about the Hampton Inn but we are staying at Best Western @ Patriots Point. The price really couldn't be beat for being that close, plus i can leave my car there for the week. They don't have a shuttle but the person i spoke to said they did call a cab for you.

Best Western @ Patriots Point is a good hotel. I have stayed there several times. We had stayed there when my youngest was having medical issues and was at MUSC plus stayed there on 1st cruise. They do call a cab.

Since the 1st cruise moved over across the street to the Rodeway (we have never had any issues with the hotel or rooms) and the rate is cheaper plus they do pay for the transportation to the port.

  8. the last 2 times my mom and I cruised we stayed at the Rodeway Inn in Mt. Pleasant. It may not be a high end hotel but it was very clean and we had no issues. We drive down the night b4 and leave my car there (it is parked right out front of the lobby). the cost of the park and cruise is only a few dollars more than what I would pay for parking at the port for 7 days. We will be staying there again this time (in December).

  9. Very true. :-) come in august thru Sept. Things start slowing down and become a lot cheaper. After Sept its a ghost town...as you prob know. That's one reason I like Charleston b/c its always busy.

But we are now focusing on the cruise. It seems soooo far away. And me being on here everyday does not make it go any faster. Your review really has me in the cruising spirit. Aaahhhh!!

After Sept. a ghost town???? IN MB? You have got to be kidding me. It sure doesn't seem like a ghost town when I'm trying to get somewhere. Granted it's not like summer but with the retirees here and the golfer there is ALWAYS traffic.
