Received this email from Princess on 5/1/2020

We know you’re waiting for your refund and may be frustrated by how long it’s taking. We hear you and are doing everything in our power to get it to you as soon as possible. Rest assured we’ve received your request, and it’s in our queue.

We ask for your continued patience in affording us the time to work through the refunds properly. Because we are not able to use our usual automated process, our team is manually handling a large volume of requests while working from home. We want to try to make sure each and every guest's booking is handled accurately, and as efficiently as possible and this is taking more time.

As always, we thank you for your understanding and hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe during this difficult time.

Many reported having received that email days ago.  Didn't believe it then, and don't believe it now.  Just platitudes.

With all due respect, you didn't make anything clear in that first post nor was their any semblance of a "how to" message in your first post declaring your "refund".  You didn't mention anything about a CC dispute nor even make any suggestion whatsoever.

Totally agree.  Witness my reply at the time.

  3. Do you think anyone at Princess is monitoring the forums these days?  Surely they must be getting nervous to see all the folks - many Princess loyalists - who are appalled at the way this refund process is going, or should I say not going.

It makes no sense to me that they are dragging their feet and not providing ANY refunds to speak of.  They are in danger of losing their most valuable customers.

The only thing I can think of is that they do not care because they do not intend to resume sailing.

Maybe if we all just understand that when the refund offers started they did say 60-90 days and understand that is what it will take. Almost 60 days for us. If you happen to receive your refund sooner. Great, if not. You all knew how long it might take. So no sense to complain and talk about the cruise line as if they were hiding something or holding our money to benefit them. I am sure they wish this was all over as we all do. Speculation and accusations do nothing to help at all.

Nope.  They first said "up to 60 days" from the date they received our choice.  I have a screenshot from their website.

And now it is a moving target.  We have every right to be upset and I do think they are deliberately dragging their feet.

I will file a cc dispute next Wednesday, 62 days in.

I am, currently on the line with Princess for some answers....30 minutes and counting.....now they are transferring me to customer relations where someone can answer my questions!  Hmmm?  Thought I was talking to customer relations?

Please do let us know if you learn anything at all from Princess.  Hope you do, but doubt you will.

I have read lots of posts where people HAVE received their refund.  All the Princess employees are working from home and have to process each account manually. My understanding is they don't have access to the same computer info as they do when they are physically at work. They have to check the fares, payments made, and how it was paid.

Patience is a virtue (and it is not nice to spread rumors that have no fact basis)

I sure would like to know where you are seeing those posts. I certainly have not seen any such posts except from "dog" and a few others who cancelled before the March 12 pause.

  7. I for one do not give a flying fig about the over $3000 OBC we would have gotten on our B2B 42 day South Pacific and Panama Canal trip.  Did not take the trip, therefore no way to spend the money.  If the TA gets to keep their commission, well, maybe that will help them stay in business.

What I DO give a flying fig for is getting my refund for the cruise.  Partial FCC received, no money.

I just received notice from my Bank this morning that they had also resolved my credit card dispute against Princess in my favor as well, also with the same "provisional" conditions (45 days).  Hopefully, I will get to keep the money which was my final deposit paid in late Jan. for a May 2 sailing on the Royal (cancelled Mar. 6) - bank dispute filed March 31 .  This may be the only money I ever get back and if it holds I will be thrilled to have it.

I am a little confused - you say they "resolved" it but the credit is provisional?  Sounds like they accepted it and are giving you the credit while they work with Princess on it, so it is not finalized.  Or perhaps I am misunderstanding?

I would look at posting your complaint on Princess Facebook page; and their twitter page.  Normally they reply quickly; as they don't want negative publicity.

Well they don't seem to care about the publicity they are getting about not issuing refunds!

I stand by what I and so many others have said:  talk to your credit card company to find out what applies to you and do not accept the idea that there is a 60 day from the time of payment limitation until you know for sure that is the case.   There’s a very good chance it may be something other than that but you need to find out directly from your credit card company and not from online opinions.

    Yes, yes, yes!

  11. I posted this earlier and I say again:  CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY!  Every card is different, so what people say here about their card is not necessarily the way your card works.

Because ours was a B2B totaling 42 days, it was pricey and I used 3 cards as two of them had special offers.  Citi Double Cash told me I had 6 months from billing date to file a dispute, Capital One said 190 days from original charge, and Bank of America visa said  no time limit but had to call if it was after 60 days.

So, my advice is:  call your credit card company!

I've read that Discover and American Express are two card companies that allow disputes that are beyond 60 days from payment. I'm not sure if any other credit card companies follow this policy, and instead, only allow disputes within the 60 days of payment.  Does anyone know if other cards allow disputes over payments made that are older then 60 days from payment? Thanks!

I got a $6100 refund today.  I cancelled my Baltic Cruise  and Easy Air flight scheduled for May 30th on March 18th.  They said expect payment in 30 days.  At thirty days I filed dispute charge on my Chase Sapphire card.  They gave me a conditional credit right away and this morning notified me that they had resolved the charge.  I was refunded all but $100, and as of yet my FCD has not been returned.  I am very happy with the result.  I hope everyone has the same result shortly

So it seems like the only way to get your refund is to file a dispute.  That is just plain wrong.

    Happy for you, though!

We got our FCC, still waiting on refund for option 2.  It's good to see that some people are getting the refunds.

Actually, the only refunds people are getting is for shore excursions and some other prepaid things.

To the best of my knowledge, no one whose cruises were cancelled in the March 12th mass cancellation has reported getting their actual cruise fare refunded.
