I am waiting until 5/5, which is my 60 days, and then I am ready to file a credit card dispute.

I will be a couple of days behind you.

If they would just start issuing ANY refunds, that would show us that they really will give us our money back.  Why do they not understand that?

I would think processing refunds would be a lot less complicated for them than dealing with thousands of credit card disputes.

  2. Amazing.  The very LEAST they should do is get their stories straight.  I have just printed out "Refunds and Future Cruise Credits" from the website which clearly states the up to 60 days from the date "we receive your choice...".

I figure this will be backup documentation when I file my credit card dispute after 60 days.

Perhaps before that 60 days passes someone at Princess will wise up and change it to reference sailing date since that is what some people are being told now.  I now have proof of what they originally said in writing.

Future cruise credits are processed in order of the dates you put your request in.

credit card refunds are processed according to sail date. They said allow 60 days from your SAIL date. So If your cruise was on March 14, expect the refund around May 15.

This is a quote from the Princess website today - document titled "Refunds and Future Cruise Credits":

Given the volume and care being dedicated to make sure each booking is processed accurately, it may take up to 60 days from the date we receive your choice for a refund or Future Cruise Credit.

This does not say anything about sail date, and it agrees with what a Princess rep told me last week - request put in 3/12, expect refund by 5/12.

I think you might need to get a life.  I also think that if you took the time to read other threads regarding cruise fare refunds you might see that you aren't the only one waiting because there are thousands of cases to be resolved and that does take time.  Princess isn't going to cheat anyone because they want everyone that booked a voyage to return.

Check your account within 60 days of cancellation and you'll not be disappointed.

Wow, just wow.  I guess some folks are unfamiliar with the concept of tongue-in-cheek humor.

If you file a dispute with your credit card company will they actually get your money back? Don’t you have to have a card that has travel insurance coverage? The Visa credit card I used (Canada) has an annual fee which covers for insurance but it has a maximum of $1500 each. Our friends used a card that has no insurance coverage. Can they still file a dispute? Are they just completely out of luck if Princess doesn’t come through?

Not sure how it works in Canada, but in the US when you file a dispute, the cc company gives you a provisional credit then they go to the cc company to see what is going on.  If the dispute is resolved in your favor, your temporary credit becomes permanent.  If the vendor "wins" the dispute, the charge goes back on your card.  This process can take a while.

It has nothing to do with insurance.

Now won't it be amazing that they did not have the capacity to process loans in a timely fashion,  that the delay was due to the backlog.  If  everyone starts getting their refund just before 60 days and they are now able to crank them out with the payouts being just before the 60 day point.

That would tell me more than anything else that the delay was planned.  After all how could they go for 60 days with next to nothing getting processed, then have everything start coming through at the same rate as the original cancellations.

Will be interesting to see over the next few days as we hit the 60 day point.

I think the delay IS planned.  I think they will start to process batches of refunds in early May.  They have to know that people are getting (getting?) impatient and the credit card disputes will come flooding in by mid-May if nothing happens.

Several airlines are beginning to require face mask at check-in, on board and deplaning.  Cruise lines could be next.  New normal!

I, for one, will not be strolling around a cruise ship wearing a mask.  I would do it on an airplane if necessary, but that is just a few hours.

I get hot and uncomfortable wearing one just going to the grocery store.

The end of June is way past the original 30 days they stated.  It is really sad to see how corrupt they have become and they have really tarnished their brand beyond repair I think.

Not only that but this facebook post contradicts what is on their webite, which says up to 60 days from the time of cancellation. This is what a Princess rep told me last week, too.

  9. I was told 60 days by a Princess rep last week.  I am hanging my hat on that and the following from the Princess website:

. Given the volume and care being dedicated to make sure each booking is processed accurately, it may take up to 60 days from the date we receive your choice for a refund or Future Cruise Credit. (Underline and bolding mine)

if I do not see a refund by May 12th I will be filing a credit card dispute shortly thereafter.

  10. I think they are simply holding on to the money for as long as they can.  I think (perhaps wishfully) that as of the 60 day point after the mass March 12 cancellations, we will see people getting refunded.

Otherwise I think they will see thousands of chargebacks and they know it.  We will proceed with a dispute on May 15, giving Princess a couple of days extra.

  11. I hope the ships will be sailing soon, too.  But if that form that J8T posted goes into effect, they will be sailing with very few people over 70.

I think the only way most doctors would sign that form would be if it said something to the effect of "as of this date, this person is fit to cruise".  That second paragraph is problematical.
