  1. I took a cruise last fall on the Pearl Mist.  Out of Portland ME we went up into Canada.  Loved the ship, but our weather was bad and two ports - of course the ones in which I had the most interest - had to be cancelled.  Bar Harbor and Campobello Island.  Service great, food great.

@LDVinNC, are you looking at your Travel Summary or other and seeing that the amenities of the ‘plus’ package say ‘compliments of XXX’ which is your travel agency?

This is unfortunately how Princess lists these amenities as they are not ‘gifts’ from your Travel agency. You paid to upgrade or the plus/premier fare when you booked.

I am thinking you upgraded to plus then looked at your travel summary and see the wording saying ‘compliments from XXX’ and think you were gifted from your travel agent?

    Call your TA and verify.

Yes, wallyj, this is indeed what it looks like in the Travel Summary.  If this is the case it should say "compliments of your bank account" and leave the TA out of it!  Hah.  I will check with the TA tomorrow.

Thanks to all for your help.

  3. It breaks it out as Plus Bev Pkg + Juice Bar, Premium Desserts, Medallionnet 1 Device Wifi, Crew Appreciation and 2 Fitness Classes.  Sounds like the Plus Package as it was before the new additions.  No mention of the "free" Room Service or casual dining perk.  Interestingly, the price shown is about $200 more than I just paid.

  4. This morning via the website I added Princess Plus to next summer's Greenland cruise.  Then, meandering around the site, I saw that my TA had already provided it - she had not mentioned it and it is not on my paperwork.  I did not get an error message and it shows pending on my credit card.  Can't find a way to cancel it on the website.  Do you think Princess is "smart" enough to realize I already have it and cancel what I did?  I will, of course, contact my TA tomorrow.

  5. Plymouth is a separate stop, the last day of the cruise.  I just called ACL and the woman I spoke to had no information as to why Newport has been eliminated.  I'd be willing to bet they will get a lot of calls about this.  My first ACL cruise and it is not giving me a good impression.

  6. Now 60 days out, so itinerary and shore excursions have been posted for my Cape Codder cruise.  They have removed Newport!  One of the primary reasons I chose this cruise.  Now, I know they have the right to do this, but I sure am disappointed.  I wonder if previous Cape Codder trips have gone to Newport.

My recommendation:  Go down to dinner promptly(ish), find an empty table, and take a seat.  Couples who really want to be alone will sit somewhere else.  But most other couples won't hesitate to join you.  And other singles too.

    Thanks, Dave.  Make sense.

Will probably be a lot of other singles. Won’t take long for all of you to figure out who is single, so you can join them for dinner.

Unlikely, unfortunately.  The ship holds only about 100 people with only 3 single cabins.  But I hope you are right.  Thanks for responding.

  9. I will be on the Cape Codder cruise next month, traveling on my own now.  I see from the deck plans for the Eagle that most tables are for 4.  Do they make any effort to seat people who are traveling alone?  Awkward - or maybe that is just me - to approach a table with a couple already seated and ask to join them.  On the Pearl Mist last fall, the majority of tables were for 6 (or maybe eight) and it seems less intrusive to join a larger group. Thanks.

  10. A few months ago I took a cruise on Pearl Seas Cruises, which I understand to be part of ACL.  In the lounges, there was always drinks and snacks available - coffee, tea, sodas, water etc and things like cookies and fruit.  In the morning there was OJ (bottled) and pastries.  Good for someone like me who does not always want a full breakfast.  Can anyone tell me if ACL does the same?  I will be on the Cape Codder cruise at the end of August.  Thanks!

  11. I have booked next year's Greenland cruise out of Boston.  I am paying one fare plus approximately 50% of the second fare.  I think that is a pretty good deal, considering...I sure wish the cruise lines would provide more single cabins!  Lots of us who used to travel with partners do not want to stop traveling due to the cost.

  12. People talk about a PVP or CVP.  Can I assume that this means the same thing?  How to you get ahold of one?

When I called to book my 2024 trip I reached someone who asked me no questions, and made assumptions as to what I wanted in terms of bed arrangement, etc.  I had identified the cabin I wanted and she did tell me it was available, but that is all the service she provided, When I asked if I should call her directly with any questions, etc. she said I could but also could talk to anyone. I promptly switched the booking to a TA I used pre-Covid.

  13. I am so sorry to read this and other posts about the mess that AQV seems to have become.  My late husband and I took 5 voyages with them (last one in 2019) and had wonderful times.  For a while there seemed to be someone at AQV who was replying to messages on this site, but have not seen that in a while.  A shame.

Now, this is easy for me to say because it is not my money, but perhaps you could consider staying at the Westin for all three nights then, on the day of sailing, taxi to the designated hotel for check-in and boarding.

  14. Due to the Pandemic and life events, I have been away from Princess and cruising since 2019.  Called Princess the other day to book a 2024 Greenland cruise.  The rep I booked with was nice, but hard to understand and there was a lot of noise in the background that remained even after I mentioned it.  I did all the work, and she did not offer me any of the packages or offer advice of any kind.  I decided to transfer the booking to an agent so called back and the second rep was also hard to understand (though no background voices and noise) and spoke so fast that I could not keep up.  Anyway, the booking is now with a travel agent.

  15. I almost booked a 16 day trip from Boston to Nassau on the Navigator but the lack of laundry - either self service or send-out, stopped me from booking.  Could not possibly go that long without laundry.  But check with the line, it may have changed or I may have been misinformed.
