I did a lot of cruising in the 90's, early 2000's before children. I loved the Baked Alaska parade and music. Makes me a little sad to know it's gone and my kids won't see it. Things do change.

Anyone know if they will do take out?

As a physician, I recommend ignoring all of these posts and just following up with your own doctor. Something cruise-specific is unlikely, but not impossible.

I had the Android app, didn't work for me either. These days, I think it might be better to improve the app as well as keep the website up to date. Not everybody has access to a computer nowadays, and have more access to their phones.
Agreed. These days, if it isn't an app on the phone, it's often out of mind. They are behind the times if they don't invest in a great app. Even MSC's app is better! Ideally, Celebrity's app would be accessible free on the ships' wifi and allow messaging in board to other shipmates using the app. I know, it will never happen.

We were on the same cruise as the OP and our daughters (ages 8 and 5) LOVED the kids club. In fact, my 5 year old cried on the last night because she wasn't going to be attending the last few late night activities (we wanted them to get to bed early). The activities for them throughout the week were great. They are open 9-12pm, closed for 2 hours for lunch, then reopen from 2-5. From 5-7, they can do dinner with the kids club or you can bring them back from 7-10pm. 10pm to 1am is considered "slumber party" and you will be charged $6 per hour unless you have the VIP package which makes it free. The kids are broken down by age (3-5, 6-8, 9-11 and then 12+ are the teens group). My girls loved the activities and they had a 4th of July party which included decorating t-shirts and making hats, a 4th of July parade and a talent show at the end of the cruise. Both got the backstage tour of the theater where they met the entertainers, dancers, band members and tried on costumes. My 8 year old was able to take the tour of the bridge and meet the Captain.
Thanks! Sounds like our kids will really like it. Did your girls have the VIP package?

Some folks simply bring a blow up beach ball...don't fully inflate, and it won't roll around. Makes a great footstool!
Great idea!

Great! Thank you! I'll be interested to see what you think of the MDR, as it gets mixed reviews. Also, anything about the kids club you notice - or at least do kids you see seem happy onboard. Any shore excursions? Your favorite place to curl up with a book or a drink? Have a wonderful cruise!!

Interesting. We have three kids 9-11 that will be on the Equinox soon. We did plan on giving them sign out privileges (so they can go to a short list of places - basically the ocean view cafe for a snack or joining dad and I), so I guess it makes sense that the scavenger hunt groups would be on their own. Besides, they wouldn't have enough staff to send a counselor out with several groups. I'm ok with it, but I am also thinking that if parents don't give sign out privileges, then the kids probably can't go on the hunt. Do you know if his parents gave him sign in/out privileges?

My daughter will be 8yrs and 9months when we sail - looking at these lists I think the Ensigns would be more suitable (9-11yrs)...
Is this possible or is it strictly age based?
I have heard they are pretty strict on the ages, but I'm sure it depends on the staff on board.

We will have two 9 year olds in the kids' camp Aug 6 sailing, so we will let you know. I've read really good things about it.

Following... we will be on the Equinox August 6 with 9 and 11 year olds. I know the MDR has a kids' menu, and you may be able to access that from Luminae. We have one picky eater that will either have to expand her horizons, or eat a lot of burgers from the grill, lol.

I don't think anyone is stupid for spending their money as they like. I didn't read the OP's post to mean that. We all pick what we will spend on. I do think, though, that if Celebrity keeps adding and increasing fees and using more space for special "for fee areas", they will push some of us to other cruise lines. That's sad for us, but perhaps fine with Celebrity. We chose the Equinox in part because the lawn was open to all the glass show included for everyone.

This thread got me thinking back to when I was a kid. Back then, ANY cruise would've COMPLETELY blown me away. How spoiled are we that we can have this discussion of choosing Celebrity or Royal Caribbean?
Either one will be incredible for a first time cruiser!

Totally agree! Any cruise beats driving to a campground in a crowded station wagon without air conditioning, lol. Our kids will never understand.

I originally refrained from commenting on any of the negative posts. I was taken aback at how rude some of the comments were. Since I'm the original poster I will add my two cents. I wasn't looking for anyone's opinion as to if I should take my daughter, I just wanted to know what the policy was on the cruise line. For the record, I am a single mother and I travel and dine with my daughter often. She IS my date! I give her my full attention during dinner. I am working very hard to teach her about how to behave in many different settings, especially at restaurants. I also like to expose her to many different cuisines. She can recognize more herbs than most adults.
I actually feel bad for those people who don't understand the joy a child, especially of her age, can bring to any experience. My daughter, like most children, is full of joy and wonder and notices things that I am no longer sensitive to. She enhances every part of my life.
I specifically was curious about Q'sine because I thought it would be fun for her but I wanted to make sure it wasn't akin to Alinea in Chicago(although I really didn't think it could be). This is a cruise ship and a vacation. It's should be fun.
Thank you to those who came to my defense, I appreciate it.
Lovely reply from a lovely mom. I hope my earlier post seemed supportive. I took my daughter on a solo cruise when she was three and she was a wonderful dinner date every night. Except for the night she stepped on the edge my strapless gown in front of the whole dining room! But that's for another thread. Enjoy your cruise and get lots of photos made!

Celebrity bills itself as open to all ages. I expect to see children, and to hear them. :) That being said, my older kids are also usually well-behaved - and we still aren't bringing them to Murano's. From all accounts, it would be a long meal requiring an awful lot of kids' patience. We are saving that one for "date night".
