  1. Cynthia, good to hear that you made it to Germany with only a few issues. I too have been on a flight where the in seat entertainment didn’t work in spite of reboots. Not good on flights as long as yours. With those other issues, I wonder if  letting the airline know would result in some compensation such as miles.

Both those meals sound delicious. Hope you are able to do some sightseeing before you move on to Lyon.

  2. Melody, I too have a travel pro 21” roll aboard that I have used for several years. It’s still going strong. I also have a Kirkland roll aboard that is older than the travel pro. It is heaver so that is what I use if I’m checking a bag. It also is in great condition Both bags have been on many flights, cruised & other forms that of transportation. Both are the 2 wheel style and have been wheeled on cobblestones etc.  I use one or the other as I don’t have any larger bags.

Good morning, you all may think I have lost my mind but after doing a pre pack trial with the luggage, I just want to use what I already have and I am returning the new one. I love my soft side. It has gone on many cruises with me. It is a deep purple by"Lucas" and has served me well. It even feels easier to lift and that is important to me too😀

Lois, I think you did the right thing-trying it out and deciding it just didn’t work out. Good that it was easy to return and now you are all packed. BTW, I saw your thread about BA seat assignments. Wishing you a smooth check in and a good selection of seats. Should happen since you are in BC.

  4. Hi Lois, don’t you just love those little pods in business class? So nice to be able to sleep comfortably and have some space around you.

I also like the idea that when not flying “business”, a bag like your new one can fit under the seat so no worries if bins are full. Might not work for tall people who need leg room or if you end up in a seat with one of those little boxes that are sometimes under  the seat in front of you.

  5. Lois, I like your new smaller carry on. I too use a similar one when we aren’t planning on carrying on our 21”” bags.

I have also heard about all the airport issues in Europe so making sure you have plenty of time to check in and between connecting flights makes sense.  Wishing our travelers safe, easy flights, train connections and so on.

  7. Sherri, I laughed at your comment about your DH noticing your new “do”. It sounds as if you made a nice update so we shall see.

I bet you have some fun plans for Wildman. As my GF always says, “ I’m strapping on the roller skates and trying to keep up”. Enjoy.

Geez, Kat, you’ve carefully planned out your travel clothing so hope you won’t have too many last minute revisions. Also hope all your accommodations have a/c so you can sleep comfortably. Not much can be done about outdoor actives except hope that temps cool down some. Remind me when you leave.

  8. Hi Lois,

Thinking back on all of Debbie’s many posts, I am sure she will know that we are missing her and hoping that she is doing well. She will know that we haven’t forgotten about her. Interesting how the pandemic brought all of us together and although we have never met, we enjoy keeping in tough and who knows, we might meet one day on a cruise. Threads such as this keep us in touch and we will know if one or more of us has booked the same cruise.

i know you must be very excited anticipating your cruise. Looking forward to something such as this is all part of the enjoyment.

OOTD ankle pants and Talbots tee. Temps here not too bad and tomorrow even cooler!

I clicked on Debbie's screen name and found where she posted on the Celebrity board at the end of May.........I excused myself about barging in on the thread and told her we are all thinking about her and asked her to come say hi to us...........I am just glad I found it. I remember when she told us about her prognosis a while back and  my mind was really going to some dark places.

Hi Lois, yes I too am concerned about Debbie and miss her posts. I hope she sees yours and “drops by” here to let us know how she is doing and how her cruise was.

I hope your testing arrangements work out. So stressful!

We bought our plane tickets for our cruise in December. OMG sticker shock!!

Didn’t expect to pay almost as much for our Southwest flights as we did for the cruise!!  And we have to drive to Denver to get a decent flight time. Did 2 one-way rental cars & that’s cheaper than parking in the airport garage!!  Not really happy about it, but committed to the family cruise.

we paid less for first class out of Colorado Springs to FLL in April (& that was spring break week)

    Melody

Melody, travel is just darn expensive now and could be worse ahead. Flights, hotels, rental cars all so expensive. We have flights booked for August and prices have increased quite a bit since we booked a month or so ago and they were high then.

Were you able to get in on the SWA fare sale? Our DD had decided things were just too pricy for her but then the sale came along and she saved about $150.

  11. Had the same problem planning a visit to Amsterdam to see the tulip fields. Was able to track the blooms and since we can be very flexible with flights, it all worked out for us. Rented a car and saw the fields as well as other sights outside of Amsterdam. Hotels were expensive but we were only staying for a few days.

On another trip we visited Keukenhof Gardens and while their displays are beautiful, nothing beats seeing the fields in bloom.

  12. Hot, hot here today….in the 100’s.  Staying in with a/c on. That is until PG&E can’t handle things. Happened last night and it wasn’t that hot at the time. It was off for almost 3 hours while they “assessed the situation” according to the texts🤫 this outage affected about 3500 homes.

Exciting times, Lois.  Good feeling when the clothes fit that we plan to pack. Sounds like you have your clothes figured out and are prepared for the summer weather.

Hope everyone stays cool and comfortable. I guess the summer heat is just beginning with more ahead.

Hi girls, this was announced today and it should make anyone traveling internationally happy🙂

They are dropping the testing requirements for entry into the US as of Sunday at 12:01am🙂

Here is a link for anyone interested:

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/10/politics/us-to-end-pre-departure-testing-requirement/index.html

Actually one has to wonder just how effective this testing is anyway.  Friends of ours tested negative before  flying back from Canada but the day after returning home came down with Covid.  Most likely positive when they tested but it wasn’t enough viral load to show positive. Who knows if they unknowingly exposed others.
