  1. A bunch of higher up CCL cruisers are ticked that for $50 someone can buy "status" but the fact of the matter is all those $50 a pop cabins with FTTF are subsidizing part of what is given to loyalty guests.

No those $50 a pop are not subsidizing part of what is given to loyalty guest. It cost NOTHING for Carnival to let the Platinum members board first and have their rooms made up first so they can drop their bags of first. It also doesn't coast to let them tender first or have a line at GS. So, yes they are selling off what they do for their loyal guest.

If RCCL uses the discount of drink package that would just be another buy something to get something. Like all the BOGO's in the "benefit" booklet. If you want to reward me just do something less for free than do a bogo or give a price break on the cruise.

  2. A little birdy sung in my ear on the roll call for my cruise in December on Brilliance about the price drop for the Suites.

Going through a new booking process with a JS Guarantee it was a few hundred less than my current room in a Balcony. Gave them a phone call not too long ago and I snatched up the last remaining Guarantee JS for only a $30 difference than my previous room.

Definitely a good bargain for the additional perks that come along with a Suite.

Now I am just waiting for a room assignment. lol

I passed as I was doing 4 b2b. I didn't want to switch rooms for each cruise.

  3. I got that too...the first survey said it was for my sailing on the INDY (which was 2009 & 2010)..thought that was strange..then came the Oops e-mail but this one indicated no ship..so which of the last 4 different ships I've sailed on would they want it to apply ...

BTW: I have no problem taking the time to participate in their surveys...you never know how much it might help to convince them of how important my C&A perks are to me just in case their considering in changing any of them.

I got the Indy and have NEVER been on it. Than the real one which is just trying to figure out what C&A perks they can get ride of with the least upset.

  4. Would I be a bad person if I said that NCL sucks, and I'd FAR rather sail Carnival on the Mexican Riviera than NCL? LOL Seriously though, do you enjoy NCL? My experience with NCL wasn't so fantastic, which is why I kind of decided to stick with Royal and build up points with them.

I am there with you. I really did not like NCL at all and would pick Carnival over then any day.

  5. Is that the "Cruise Documentation" I keep seeing a link to check the "status" of? My SetSail passes are ready to print now (if only my printer agreed!) but the Cruise Documentation has been making me wonder.

Unless, of course, their website is having issues. Like the repeated emails I got THIS month telling me that my final payment was due 1/12/13. Um, January? Hmm. The real due date was 11/12/13 but not according to official emails! So keep track of it on your own.

The "Cruise Documentation" will contain the luggage tag to print but, you can also print it from the set sail page.

I and TA were on the phone for 3 hours trying to find out why docs weren't updated with the upgrades and also why no docs have been generated for two cruises 2 weeks out when they are suppose to be at 49 days. The doc department couldn't get them reissued today and the 2nd cruise of the two still doesn't have docs issued.

I asked what I was suppose to do without the docs. I was told I didn't really need them. So why do they do them??

Also OP I make sure one last time the price hasn't dropped and make final payment at the last minute to get any last deals. Not that is does much good as the deals start after final payment.

  6. My DD lost one Diamond earring in the safe. She called from the airport and was told it was found and would be returned. When it never came she called and was told it was never found???????

I have found item in the safe and have called GS to come empty it. I don't want to be responsible for the items. They sent and officer as one of the things the Stuarts are suppose to do is check the safe.

  7. I had an email survey from Royal in my inbox this morning. All about C&A benefits. There were 13 pages with 5 benefits grouped together, everything from robes in the cabins to upgrades, and they wanted to know which of the five was most important, and which was least important. Every time robes was listed, I put that as least important. Various discounts were most important (stateroom, beverage package, they also included laundry discounts & casino play). They also listed various behind-the-scenes tours, priority boarding, priority wait lists.

There was no mention of reserved seating anywhere as a C&A benefit.

They wanted to know if the Diamond "events" and Welcome Back events were important, and if we liked recognition of cruising levels. (They're not at all important to us, but still more important than robes in the cabin!)

It took about 15 minutes to complete the entire survey.

    Did anyone else receive this?

I got this today also. It is the same survey someone reported getting earlier in this thread after they e-mailed C&A about this topic.

  8. On that subject, I had that for the first time with the new menu last April on Allure. I also thought it was excellent. I'm use to pork chops being hit and miss in restaurants and because of my stomach surgery, I am very sensitive to dry meats like chicken and pork.

When my chop came to me on Majesty last month, it was nearly 2" thick, which just screamed DRY LOOKING. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was not. 2 for 2.

What did you have? I can't figure out how do ask you privately.

  9. Wife booked December cruise in May hoping for promotion, didn't happen.:(

Singles get double points became the new program, so she got her extra credits anyway. :D

I asked my sister to join me on the third. Had I know and had air booked I wouldn't have asked anybody to join me. My DH really didn't want to go but as I was paying 200%. I would have let him off the hook. That is what I get for listening to the LA when I booked.

  10. And the December cruises this year because of all the diamonds who booked thinking there would be a diamonds in December event. We were told that there will be 450 to 650 Diamonds or above on each of the December cruises - not including the holiday cruise.

I know last year they opened up the Pyramid lounge, and Viking crown lounge, and the card rooms as over flow on the Independence of the Seas because I was there.

I'm one here:o I didn't realize they weren't doing it until after I bought air. (My sister was in a hurry to book it and I gave in.) Now stuck doing 4 cruises I would have canceled. Yep, I am only doing Royal for the benefits I thought I would get. Otherwise I would have stayed with the cruise line that did all my laundry for free for me.:D

  11. Really, the overwhelming amount of cruisers we know cruise for the love of it, not points, status, or levels.

While this is why I cruise, above with the rewards is what caused me to switch lines for the most part after traveling with a friend that would only cruise RCCL because of the above.

I was just shy of Diamond when they switched and would have cruised before the switch to get there had I know. I felt I got shafted with the switch and only stayed to cruise with said friend.

I was surprised to see some here concerned about losing the snacks. While on the Explorer doing a 10 day back to back we had them on the first 10 day but on the second, none. We only had peanuts. We were told Diamond no longer get anything but peanuts and the hot snack and fruit on the first was a mistake. So my Diamond friend couldn't even use the lounge due to peanut allergies.

  12. peri-menopause... I am just at that age...grrr...I mean, it's ok, I'm ok w/ this life transition in the span of time, but not so much w/ the affect on my feeling of well being - emotionally/physically... I am at the point where I need a reality check. I was talking w/ a friend who related the experience of an actress - Regina King - who just took control of her health & 're-made' herself...I don't know all the details, but I should research it more...

I was just looking at some ladies this weekend in a DVD series that I'm watching... and most of them were I'd say 45-65 age . And...most of them have that muffin top that comes with that age group! I'm 55... and I have one...and I notice that even when I'm working out, watching my carbs close... the front of my body just does NOT want to work with me!

... so... I'm shopping for some really cute tops!! LOL! :p:D;)

I'm back to moving my bricks around.... and we found a new spot that we are going to pull out the old bricks...lay down some new ones. Spring is the season that we can get busier and longer... the sun stays out longer too!

Had my eggs for breakfast... and keeping the shells to dry and mush up for my garden... It all works together! ;)

    Have a good week !

Yep! I never had any tummy until menopause. All my weight was in my butt! Now muffin top for sure.

  13. Thank you! Headache is gone. Appetitie is also gone thank god! It's all fine. My husband rescued four 2 day old kittens from a garbage truck last Wednesday and I've been bottle feeding them round the clock. They are so cute but I think I might be losing my mind. I left work early to come home "in case" they need me..... They might as well be babies!

I remember the Headaches when starting. Glad they are gone. We have friend that run a "corner store" The found four kittens in their dumpster. Went to dump the trash and hear mewing. She bottle feed them until they were old enough to be on their own. They also had a momma cat get under their poarch at the same time and have five kittens. They asked my hubby to take them, we have three barns. I saw them leaving one day, saw the look on hubbies face, I new that he had done something other than have friends over to see the baby goats:D Found a group that fixes feral cats. They said as I didn't now gender and had ten they would do them for $35 each. Boy did I lucked out as 7 were female. They usually charge $65 for females.

Your a saint to take that task on!

Your lucky, I never get them to turn :(

peri-menopause I am just at that age...grrr...I mean, it's ok, I'm ok w/ this life transition in the span of time, but not so much w/ the affect on my feeling of well being - emotionally/physically... I understand what you are going thru. peri-menopause, than menopause took and health and emotional tool. I was cool with my place in time but, nothing that worked pre including Atkins works to stop the weight gain and the emotions!!!! My Doc doesn't do hormone replacements due to cancer rates. So I was trying to tuff it out. I did have to break down and get help with the emotional issues. The bad thing is the meds cause weight gain. The circle just went round and round. I went thru a few bad years but, thanks to Atkins and Medical help, I have a handle on things now.

  14. Just wanted to stop in and say high! Everything is going smoothly. I am hanging in with our WOE and am at the lowest that I get to and am happy with this weight at this point in my life. Down 80 pounds from where I started four years ago. Good luck to all.

  15. Fake food - yes, the big commercial corps have decided its in their best interest apparently to give us 'fake' foods...ie, you think you are buying ( & paying for) salmon, but 'they' fake us out w/ different fish altogether...in the stores & restaurants...how nice of them... also, olive oil - yes, 'watered' down w/ other lower cost oils & there were/are many more, but those in particular really gets me...grrr

(not to mention the horsemeat 'scandal' in some other countries)

Dash diet - I didn't watch too carefully, but the first two weeks seems awfully close to Atkins, but then it digresses...but it does show that a lot of people - Dr's, nutritionists, lay persons seem to admit that low carb has some tremendous health benefits - who knew?

I have seen a lot on the fake foods lately and yes it is very upsetting they can get away with this. Coffee was a biggie for me for what I pay for my decaf.

I also find it funny how many people doing low carb (gasp, can we say Atkins, but they don't )

Hey all! Jumping onto this thread ... nice to see all the low carbers here! The first time I did Atkins, it was from Jan to Mar before our Spring Break cruise in 2007. I lost 26 pounds in three months. Since then, I've tried Weight Watchers along with good, old fashioned exercise. The weight just didn't come off. Soooooo back to low carb I go! I don't know about all of you, but sometimes when people ask me what diet I'm on, I get a disgusted look back from them and an "OHHHHHHHH". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Do people think low carbers eat a pound of bacon at every sitting???

I hear yeah! I Did Atkins for the first time in '03. I Lost 17 pounds in 17 Days and 30 in three months and 60 in six months. My doctor was dead set against Atkins. She realized I was going to give up on the first thing that worked so she did the labs. After the first year down 60 pounds and GREAT labs, she just shrugged and said keep it up. I did for two year until I gave in to the carb Monster. I thought I could handle it. A "healthy diet" and exercise didn't work for me. I use to run 3-4 miles 5-7 days a weeks and just had wreaked knees to show for it.

As you can see from prior post, I started back hard core last January with good hard work (yard work and swimming) and lost 60 last year. Went off the deep end for 5 weeks and gained 30 back. Knuckled down this January and all 30 are gone. I am now back to a set point I haven't broken in 31 year since the birth of the second DD. (except during a divorce 18 years ago for a few months.)

  16. Well, sticks have been on & off purple ( I recently started checking ever so often, esp since I got my new scales), & I definitely feel better & 'cleaner'.

Why do we sometimes get so off course w/ our WOE...it is so self-defeating...I know 'life' gets in the way sometimes, but I try to remember we can eat so well, just not 'their' WOE...:D

Lucky you I never have seen purple, once or twice I have seen the lightest color change and have been doing this for years. I have gone off course over the years and gained it all back twice. I guess I life in denial. Than I get my head right and realize this is the only way I can go it. I'm back to the lowest I have been in about 15 years.

I'm back on board ;), down 3- I was low carbing it in between cruises last year and dropped 30 in four months and then headed into a 6 week stall, then a cruise. Cruise was a carb fest and then headed into the holidays. Gained 20 back. So here I am, not as bad as this time last year but looking to lose 40! Glad to see your post cerebella- lets do this thing! It's one week of purple for me.

I hear ya! I cruised 3 week in December and came home to Christmas and New Years. Talk about Carb feast. I gained back 30 of the 60 I lost over all laste year. But, I can say all 30 are back off as of yesterday!

  17. I am back down to pre cruising weight. Now I can work on getting back to the next goal. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can get back to working outside. I did really well losing last year. If I lose half as much this year I'll be very happy.
