1. I called hoping to get this same rate but for the Feb 13th date. On the day I called they had neither rate and the lowest was $421 (incl taxes and port charge) on 2/6/2012 so I took that. 3 days later they lowered the price of the 2/13/2012 date that I originally wanted to (U guessed it!!!) $311 total. Its not that the $421 price is bad but when you add curise line air, shuttle fees, insurance ect my total bill was almost $1000 so it would have been nice for it to be $110 less. I called and asked about this but was told there was no discount I could receive because the date I booked (because I was told it was cheaper than my originally requested 2/13/2012) was still $421. Next time I hear about a great deal, but they tell me its not available, I will wait and watch for a few days before booking. :p Anyway, It will still be a blast. (THERES NO SUCH THING AS A BAD CRUISE!!!) :D In any event, I will also be on the 2/6/2012 Monarch cruise to Nassau so I'll see you there.

Looks like the Monarch 1/30 & 2/20 will have a 150% sup on the Monday sale for C&A.

2. Hi, we are planning a cruise in September. Our flight will leave FL for Los Angeles at 7pm. The cruise ship arrives at 7.00am. I am not sure what time we would expect to get off the ship but it will be quite a few hours before we need to get to the airport. Any suggestions what to do with our luggage? We have never been to the USA before so are not familiar with FL. We are happy just to walk around the town, shop, eat and maybe go to the beach for the day but the problem is our luggage. How far is it to the airport from the RCI cruise terminal? Is it worth it for us to hire a car for the day? How much is average car hire? Apologies for all the questions. Thank you for your help!:)

If you rent a car, you can leave the luggage in the trunk. Not sure what the prices are at the port. It would be worth it to me.

3. Hi Karen! I am also in your shoes but, older. I am married. My DH has cruised with me and likes it, OK. We have a small farm with animals inside and out. He doesn't like to leave them to the care of others.

I have cruised ;

with the DH

with the whole family

with just one of the daughters

with friends I have met here on CC

with daughters friends

and when I can't get anyone to go with me, I GO SOLO!

My husband is GREAT he knows how much I love to cruise and sends me on my way. I will be solo this 2/9, 2/13 & 2/18. These are my V-day and B-day presents:D I was thinking of taking the three year old grandson but, two weeks might be to long for him.;)

4. I had 4 day out the door for $435 and 5 day for $576 on LIberty OTS Jan 26 and 30 but, just as I went to book I remember my DD gave me a Mom & daughter weekend 2/4 for Christmas. So I ended up getting 2/9 for $573 & 2/13 for $655.5.

I'm not sure why on this ship the 5 day that does Belize and Coz is $1090. Oh well the cheaper air for stay in third cruise makes up for some of it. Sure wish I had a roomie for that one though.

5. Yes I agree Carnival solo sailings have got costly. As you can see by my past cruise list Carnival was my line of choice then there prices hit the fan. Still like there food and entertainment.

I so agree with you!

Not sure how this http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/R...ales_event.pdf link works but I have book marked it. When I open it next Tuesday will it have new offers?

If there is a last minute site I can be ready in week as that was all the time I had for Voyager of Seas in Dec.

This link is actually a TA link to RCCL. C&A members of a certain level can see on Monday what will be offered on Tuesday. If you go to this link on Tuesday and see a deal you want, you can either call your TA, PVP or RCCL or book that deal. Also I have seen in the past that the update wasn’t at the same time every week. Keep checking until you see the current date.

As far as Alaska goes, a couple years ago I was getting deal from HAL almost giving cruises away. I haven't seen anything like it resently.

6. That rate's not bad at all. Anything $100./night or less for a single is good. I haven't had much luck with Carnival since 2010. The rates have gone up quite a bit. I got some great specials back in May 2010 on the Miracle and again in September on the Valor but nothing. The same cruise I took on the Miracle for $800. is now going for $1,800. Although, I got the rate as a last minute special but still another $1,000.?!!! Are they nuts? I guess it's all based on what they figure they can get.

Yep, I used to always solo on Carnival until they changed how they figure the rate. Used to be the 1A at 150% was a good deal. Now the 150% is on a different "base number' and you don't save much. I have found some sailing on RCCL with a single sup at 150 and 175 and it comes out better. That is part of the reason I have so many RCCL cruises lately. Carnival used to have the best deal going for Solos on a constant basis.

Oh, well....

7. I am thinking that the best way to do it is to get a hotel with a shuttle from the airport and then get a quick cab ride to the port. The only thing that might put a wrench in my gears is if the taxi fare from the port to the airport will be high.

any advice on that? should we just book a transfer company to grab us at the hotel and then pick us up after the cruise? thanks again.

I just got off the Liberty OTS a couple weeks ago. There where taxis/vans at the port. A guy asked if we wanted a ride for $11pp. We went up to them and along with six other people off to FLL we went. Easy, breezy. This WASN"T a metered taxi. I do believe a taxi could have been less BUT if there is a clitch in traffice the meter can get high fast. It seems every time I take the "$15" taxi ride it ends up being $25 or more.

8. I found a "new" link for them:

http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Multi_Dest/Special_Offers/rci_sales_event.pdf

Sorry you missed today's special.

Thanks, yes I just missed a great deal on two of the three cruises:( I want to book. I wonder the odds they will show up net tuesday. As a Emerald C&A. I'm suppose to see the deals on Monday but, it doesn't take you to that site/offers so, I missed them.

Thanks for the link it is now bookmarked.:D

9. This isn't the first time this has happened. Someone posted a great rate for a cruise on this thread. When the "special" was offered the rate was higher. Luckily my t/a blocked space for me yesterday and put it on hold so I got the lower rate. He wanted to see what would happen today. Unfortunately, the airfare went up about $50. The funny thing too is RCCL had specials for the Liberty and they want about $100. more.

I've been looking for deals on Liberty. How do you find deals for single supplement? I can't seem to find the Tuesday deals anymore either.

10. Can anyone tell me if Carnival has dropped the Single 150% rate? When I look it up, in the 1A cat, I get one rate and when I go to book it doubles the single rate and only saves the taxes on one person. Did I miss something? I haven't been able to cruise since my Brother and Dad had cancer. I have lost them both and need to take a cruise.

11. Hi! I haven't been here in a while. I have been buzy on the Obesityhelp.com boards. I went and got a Lap Band. The diet I was told to follow is so Atkins. I was hoping the band would give me the extra help I needed to say with it. Now I'm having trouble getting in solid protein. Hopefully I be back to normal in a couple days.

I lost 60 pounds the first year I did Atkins, gained and lost 20 the second year and kept the 60 off the third year. I was totally happy with the life. Than life happened and I fell out of the life style. I know it works. I went back on while I was waiting for surgery and was able to lose 20 pounds. Including thru the holidays and several cruise.
12.
My husband had the nerve to have bought some Heath Klondike bars (my favorite) and they were calling me from the freezer. He ate one right in front of me, but I didn't cave. I just got my jello and cool whip and remembered my jeans and I was okay with it.

What a little brat!

I've done Atkins (mostly) on the ship twice. The first time I lost weight and NEVER went without. The second I came off at the same wieght I went on. They had a low carb cheese cake that was good on the last ship. I had cheese for dessert everynight and keep wishing I could get the cheese cake. The last four nights they had it for me. :)
13.
Just noticed your member name on today's birthday list.

Happy Birthday!! :D
WOW! Thank You! I didn't know anyone read thru that looooong list.

I went on a scrapbook weekend with some friends. We were all on some kind of diet, and I walked with a friend 10 min every hour. Thought I'd lose but I gained. I think it was because I didn't get in enough water.

I am getting closer and closer everyday to a lower carb diet. I'm getting 60-80 grams protein a day now just have to get the carbs to 20 a day.
14. Just stopped in to say hi! I read up on all the pages since my last post. I love all the recipies being shared along with support. Good luck to everyone. I still have the health issues that are keeping me for doing all out Atkins. They have me on a high protein diet but, it is way to high in Carbs to do me any good. I lost 30 pounds on Atkins from May to Feb. That included the Holidays and going to Disney and three cruises. Now if I could get it going on again
15. Pineview - Hang in here with us....so we know how your doing!;)

I'm hanging here! Had pre-admit yesterday and found out I had three major health issues I wasn't even aware of. He also changed my meds to ones that make me gain weight. I'm staying here even if I can't get back to my WOE for a month or so.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

I was checking to see how everyone is doing. I too was doing great until doc put me on a luquid diet pre-op and I gained 2 pounds in 3 days. The diet is waaaay to high in carbs. Can't wait to get back on Atkins after surgery.

Since May I had lost 20 pounds and that included making it thru the Holidays and a 10 day cruise.

Those are great ideas for fast breakfast.

17. Pineview, hmmmm I think I have cruise envy, my my my...you probably have some tales to tell about cruise food too!! Do share!!

I find that sticking to Atkins WOE is very cruise friendly!! But for many, the saying is true -get on ship-shape, get off the shape of the ship!!:p

Yes, I have lots of tells of cruise food and that is why I'm in trouble and am back here so I'll stay on track.

Yes, if you make up you mind to stay with Atkins it is easy on a cruise.

18. Hi everyone!

I've been reading your thread. I was on Atkins in 1/1/03 and kept with it for three years. In'05 I went off Atkins "just for the holidays". My DH and I went thru surgeries in '06 and I ended in a wheel chair for 3 months. During that year I managed to gain everything back and left the WOL like deckguys wife.

I went back on Atkins before the Holidays this year. I am down 15 pounds even after the 10 days of cruising I just got off from.

I was on another thread from 04/05 that went away with the OP. I see the OP of this thread is no longer around. It is to bad I'd like to know how she is doing.

Well that is all about me;) Good luck everyone!
