  1. I agree completely with florisdekort - the dress code on the Seabourn website clearly states that formal attire for men is "tuxedo, suit or sport coat and slacks" when dining in the Restaurant. Others have gone on and on about black tie - sorry, no mention anywhere on the Seabourn site. The rest of the nights and anywhere else on the ship, "country club casual" is a great description of reality. And a tie is rarely seen.
  2. Back to the original focus of the thread. I found a better picture of the cabana space, including the common area space on Koningsdam. Very little extra space, even in the common area for extra people (But there is room for a big green rabbit!). This gives you a better idea of the limited space in each cabana. The one in the corner is a family cabana - bigger, but still not large.
  3. Yes. Prices will vary depending on the type of ship and length of cruise. Generally $15 to $25 per person per day.Pinnacle class with the separate dining space is the higher price.
  4. I never said we were not escorted. My point is that suites don't all get to be in group A, contrary to what some believe. There are suites in each boarding group.
  5. Unfortunately, even if the staff is very careful, you've got guests as well, who might not be aware of those just below. Hope all are considerate! Some nice soft feet on chairs and tables certainly would help.
  6. Yes, the amenities you listed are included, along with lunch service, plus other treats throughout the day. I suggest you call again and speak to someone else who has actual knowledge of the Retreat cabana area.
  7. I'm posting a photo of the size of a typical cabana, which can honestly fit only two adults. Some cabanas can have the partitions between them removed to create a bigger space. But I think you would be very hard pressed to fit 7 adults unless you booked a family cabana and another one side by side. The cabana space is really quite small and additional seating won't fit. The family design is larger with a table with four chairs, plus a couple of loungers and a couple more padded chairs.
  8. Interesting to read people's perception of when suites board compared to reality. At least a couple of weeks ago for our Alaska cruise, HAL was still asking all guests NOT to arrive before your assigned boarding group. Group A, Group B, etc. listed on your boarding pass. Once you enter the main area, suites and high star Mariners are directed to a (usually shorter) dedicated line. HAL keeps trying to better control the crowds and make the check-in as painless by trying to space out the arrivals. They are constantly sabotaged by those who decide the assigned times don't apply to them. Really? That attitude makes it harder for the rest of us. By the way, we were in a Pinnacle Suite, 4 star and were in Group D. We arrived and got on at our assigned time. No problem. And had a great cruise!
  9. We've done a transatlantic a bit later in November from Barcelona to Miami. Definitely cold until we arrived in Madera. Then warm all the way to Miami. We didn't expect warm weather so soon, and hadn't even packed shorts. Lesson learned.
  10. But Seabourn notified everyone of the 100% no-smoking policy back in December, 2021. Those with a smoking addiction had plenty of time to plan or cancel. Why has Seabourn become the enabler? This is not the 1950s. Looking at the picture of the Sky Bar, it's a joke to think that smoke will stay just on the starboard side. Disgusting!
  11. Interesting that guests on the current cruise claim to have been "misinformed". We received a notice from Seabourn on Dec. 1, 2021 that both expedition ships were to be 100% non-smoking. Perhaps these guests chose not to read notices or think it didn't apply to them. They DID receive a notice with plenty of time to cancel or make proper arrangements as others on the cruise made. And certainly not a legitimate reason to downgrade Seabourn's no-smoking policy.
  12. No, the revised smoking policy sent to me from Seabourn is for ALL future cruises! As I posted, I was promised verbally two days ago that there would be no smoking permitted in Antarctica. However, nothing in writing about any restriction - and she specifically referenced our 21-day Antarctica cruise in her letter.
  13. I was disgusted to read that smoking of both cigarettes and cigars is now allowed on Venture! This ship has been and is marketed as a 100% no-smoking ship. Why in the world in 2022 would management cave to the addictions of a small vocal minority and negatively impact the comfort and health of all the other guests and crew? Don't use the excuse that people have vices or compare smoking to alcohol consumption. No other vice forces others to risk their health. I should not be forced to avoid areas of a 100% smoke-free ship. And crew members who signed on to a smoke-free ship are now forced to endure second-hand smoke for months. I find this change completely unacceptable and have let Seabourn know, but management needs feedback from other Seabourn guests as well. guestservices@seabourn.com and officeofthepresident@seabourn.com would be good starting points. Thanks!
  14. The Ovation is the sister ship to the Encore and the spa layout appears to be the same. On the Ovation, there is a medium sized sauna and showers in the men's locker area, but no steam room. I presume the women's area is similar. These areas are open to all guests without charge.
  15. Yes, they still have it. We were on three weeks ago. We are both vegetarian. The veggie options on the regular menu are now more creative than we remember in the past. To make our choices they offered us both the veggie menu and the next day's MDR menu at the end of each dinner.
  16. Very disappointed to read from current guests on Venture that Seabourn has caved to the complaints of a small vocal minorty and the 100% non-smoking policy is no more, except in areas deemed invironmently fragile, like Antarctica. Here I was applauding them for leading the charge for a cleaner and more healthy eunvironment for all. No more... ☚ī¸
  17. The NCL jewel class of ship, like the Pearl, did have a decent sized hot tub which I have enjoyed with others in the past in the extra charge men's only area that is totally clothing optional. But I remember recent posts where the hot tub may have been replaced with a one person? hot tub or removed completely. Hope others with recent experience will comment.
  18. Damn, hate it when work gets in the way! We'll have to make up for it in November. 😁 Anyone else out there joining us? Three sea days and the free men's sauna has a nice big window out to the ocean...
  19. Ha! 17 days starting in Barbados - some Caribbean islands including the ABCs over Christmas. They've still got some verandas available... SO looking forward to Thanksgiving!!!
  20. Never knew that was an option on Seabourn. We're on Seabourn Ovation in December. Got to check it out!
  21. Bummer...same thing just happened with me on the Eurodam. Even with several sea days. Looking forward to a much better cruise on Koningsdam this Thanksgiving. Really need this!
  22. Taking a second look at the pictures, I think you're right about the layout. Hope so - and hope it's as busy for you as the M class ships on Celebrity used to be. Enjoy November!
  23. I'm reposting some photos I posted a couple years ago. Perhaps STLCRUSIN can confirm if the Summit has a similar layout. Someone else had posted the positioning of the glass-walled sauna across from the showers didn't provide the ideal setup, but at least there still is one.
  24. Yes, all Celebrity ships except the Edge class have free saunas. Give us an update if you go in the near future. I think that big round window is gone if I remember correctly, but a smaller sauna still exists. I'm on Summit next May out of New Jersey
